When I included Spiteful in the name I was considering a low number of high mana spells in the deck just like spiteful priest... and this of course has a good synergy with Book of Spectres
Thats exactly what I understood. While Priest can survive with no card draw because it has value generation (Historian, Glimmerroot and Operative), Mage does not have such value generation thus it needs necessarily some form of card draw (Spiteful Druid has the UI) and the new Book of Spectres seems like a taylor-made solution. What I worry is that Spiteful Mage needs its big spells (I'm guessing Pyroblast will be auto-include, maybe they release another big one) to finish off the opponent, and with the Book of Spectres there exists the possibility of burning the spells (I don't trust the Archivist to fire Pyroblast on the opponent). I guess we will see if such a deck gets good support (another issue is lack of learly board wipe like Duskbreaker).
Looking forward to trying to build a minion-heavy Elemental Mage deck with Bonfire Elemental, Archmage Arugal, and Book of Specters. Hopefully Mage will get another Elemental synergy card or two in the last four Mage cards to be revealed ^.^
i bet this looks sick in golden
People comparing this to azure drake is so lol. I mean azure drake was good because it had +1 spell damage and drew a card no matter what. This one needs to have an elemental played earlier on and has 5/5 stats. I mean sure it is good but azure drake is still way better
Finally! I love this card. My favourite for mage so far.
Now, we just need a 3/5 mana board clear for Mage and a 1 mana drop that draws you an elemental and My Baku mage is gonna be unstoppable.
I think that a spell-less mage will have to contain Spiteful Summoner so there can be an anti-synergy with Baku; Genn, on the other hand, could make a nice spiteful mage deck (1-mana ping is pretty ok i guess)
This card is really good... it is however not Drakonoid Operative... still this might carry elemental mage or semi-elemental (playing some elementals just like some dragons are in most priest decks) to be a really good deck.
seeing that full azure drake art has changed my perspective in life. Just like when I saw how ugly and wrinkly ysera is up close
One of the few issues with Elemental Mage in the past is not finding Frost Lich Jaina in time. With Bonfire Golem and Book of Specters you have a pretty good chance of it. Also Archmage Arugal can help gain a lot of value to hold out.
Well this is just a great card, Elemental mage might actually see some play now
OP as fuck
Best card of the set
The art is amazing !!
azure drake is back
Mr Admin the card revealed from Tylerootd and not from Tyelerrootd:)
Fun fact: This is the first "Played an Elemental last turn" synergy card released since Un'Goro. Nice to see Blizzard isn't ditching the mechanic.
