What about dragons? No connection.
But turn 8 - Silver Sword, turn 9 - Onyxia...
Dont wanna play it even for 6, because 4-drops are charged with megasaurs or stegodons.
I don't know why everyone thinks the cards they get better have perfect synergy? There will be 1 deck type per class if you do that. Also I'm perfectly fine with Blizzard making cards that add to people's Wild decks.
Dragon Pally with Onyxia :PogChamp:
Not so crazy about the mana cost, but Dragon Paladin will definitely be a thing :P
May be viable in wild soon. At least I'll try =]
Silver Sword is a really strange card. As several people have pointed out, between the obvious synergy with Ebon Dragonsmith and the recently announced Cathedral Gargoyle, it feels like there might be a midrange or control Dragon Paladin deck that could support the sword. That kind of makes sense - the synergies are interesting, and most of the dragons Paladin has access to are bigger and skew toward tempo or control play (Twilight Drake, Cobalt Scalebane, Primordial Drake, etc.).
But the effect of Silver Sword doesn't match that play style very well. When you look at the broad +1/+1 effects that have seen play in recent history (Mark of the Lotus and Power of the Wild in Druid, Lightfused Stegodon and Gentle Megasaur into Volcanic Might), these effects go in aggressive decks where it's pretty easy to build a big board, and where the incremental 2 stats is massive percentage-wise (e.g. turning a 1/1 into a 2/2 is way better than making a 4/8 into a 5/9). By turn 8 you've either won the game, or you're busy reflooding the board. If you discount the weapon once and play it on 6, it's still probably worse than Sunkeeper Tarim in terms of closing out the game.
So maybe the right question to ask when you want know whether Silver Sword will see play is "can there be a Dragon Paladin that skews aggressive instead of control?" There are still a three non-legendary Paladin cards left to be revealed; some of those might be dragons, but I'd bet at least one is a secret, so that doesn't leave a lot of room for more dragon class synergies.
id say it would maybe work better in a control dragon pally but mid-range could work
A control deck wouldn't care for +1/+1 for the minions on their board.
That's odd, this card isn't on the reveal schedule : https://www.hearthpwn.com/news/4475-the-witchwood-week-1-2-card-reveal-schedule
A couple of other cards before revealed before this were not shown in the reveal schedule. Off the top of my head, I can only name Rat Trap as one of them.
Now I know what Ebon Dragonsmith is for. Throw that in a deck with this weapon and cathedral gargoyle and we may have something going.
Might be solid once Tarim rotates, since it kinda does something similar: a bit of removal, and buffing your own minions.
On value, this is 4x Mark of the Lotus and an Assassin's Blade for one mana cheaper than the sticker price. Anyhow, it's kinda cool and big. Might not see a tonne of play, but it'd certainly be an interesting card to randomly pull in a game somehow.
This is the most win-more card in the set so far
Emeriss isn't even a win-more card. It's a "Are you winning? Playing this is how you might lose" card.
I hope that we will have a card that "gives your hero windfury this turn" to synergy with this. Normally, this is a win more card since 8 mana is a lots. However, if you attack with this weapon after Sunkeeper Tarim, you will have a board of 4/4 and 4/8 taunt. 3 attack also can trades perfectly into 3/3 enemy minions. It is not as bad as it seem though considering how good Paladin is at flooding the board.
On the other hand, Paladin have a problem with weapons at the moment. Rallying Blade is going to move to wild which leaves the current Paladin's arsenal a whole of high cost and high durability weapons. Tirion Fordring, Uther of the Ebon Blade and Vinecleaver are all high cost weapon and all of them have 3 durability. The lowest cost at the moment is in the basic set: Light's Justice (see no play) and Truesilver Champion. Paladin is lacking of removal though, Equality and Consecration are not enough for early game removal at the moment if you are not playing an aggro deck
You forgot about Unidentified Maul, which sees play in aggressive Paladin decks.
I think this weapon will fit the dragon din. Maybe that dragon that reduces the cost of a weapon was created to make this weapon viable
Paladin had only 6 card made that cost more then 8 mana and the all "WOW!" cards that change that tide for the match. This card has a lot to prove
Oh boy... Wild Dude Paly is gonna be terrifying...
So I made a comment on Cathedral Gargoyle post:
"So this is mostly Aggro Paladin focused, yea? That's generally where Shielded Minibot went, right?
Their activators are... Cobalt Scalebane and the new Nightmare Amalgam.
Guess Ebon Dragonsmith could get some use now."
Well this is where Ebon Dragonsmith would come in handy. 6 3/4 give your minions +1/+1 is pretty playable, yea?
