Shielded Minibot was the best 2-drop and might still be.
In a decent Dragon Paladin shell, this could be a staple. Would be awesome to get Control Paladin back!
People need to stop evaluating this card on current meta. Yeah it's hard to make a dragon deck for paladins right at this exact moment but only 3 of the 10 cards paladin cards have been revealed and the Marjory of the 45 neutral cards have not been revealed. If Paladin gets access to good Dragon Cards at any point in the next 2 years this card will become pretty good.
prepared for this card to be dusted with in a matter of two seconds... unless i plan on playing wild dragon paladin.
I do not know what a miracle but that nobody noticed the similarity before to Frostwolf Grunt I'm going to the fact that I have no idea why this card is an epic. That they added Divine Shield makes it worth so much, you also have to fulfill the condition, and you know that now you should be after removing a lot of noteworthy dragons.
We all know how annoying righteous protector is for aggro and control decks alike to get through. This is a conditional more expensive righteous protector that can actually make trades. Seems good to me IF they release some drakonid operator level dragons for paladin, but I doubt that'll happen.
Hello! Hello! Hello!
This is such a strange expansion and I'm not sure whether I like or dislike that.
So far, we've gotten (among other things) odd-even conditional effects, Start of Game effects, one new Shaman hero, Echo and Rush mechanics, Hand Druid synergy, A 10 Mana Handbuff Dragon for Hunter, a 7 Mana 4/4 with Battlecry: Twisting Nether, an all-tribal minion, minions that swap stats while in hand, and commons pretending to be old Legendary minions.
And now, one support card for Dragon Paladin.
This is one of the most experimental Hearthstone expansions to date. Lots of old mechanics being retooled, twisted, and amalgamated. Gonna have to wait until the expansion hits to see whether that's a positive or negative.
I like the fakt that they print all sort of cards to support future archtypes. This will be the biggest year in terms of card collection in standard (6 full expansions). Printing specific powerful cards for unique archetypes suck in the long run for all bad cards. With this method they can make every card of every expansion at least shine once in their standard rotation. And best thing: skill in deck building. Maybe you have all tier one legendary, next expansion the others are tier one and a lot of people miss out on them because you cant craft them all. Hopefully mote diverse metas.
Hm - I like the effect, but it's hard to create a deck around it. Twilight Drake could be considered. Maybe Ebon Dragonsmith or Cobalt Scalebane. Anyhow it's hard to create a consistent curve with dragons.
Really shows how powerful Righteous Protector is
While this looks a little underwhelming at first, keep note:
We haven't seen any paladin legendaries from this expansion yet.
this doesn't work with call to arms, hello? it says battlecry, not inspire or some other garbage. if call to arms'd it's just a 2/2.
call to arms pulling 3 cards from your deck and playing them for 4 mana is still good, no matter what the cards are
Shield Mini-bot with taunt... so annoying. Just wait until paladin got strong dragon synergy =S
I actually really like this. Instead of being a "hnnngh, put in deck with Call 2 Arms and it slap face" minion like Shielded Minibot which coincidentally also got put into every Paladin deck ever because it's a generic beatstick, this is potentially far more powerful but requires a deck built around making it that powerful. I've come to dislike a lot of the cards that are just powerful on their own, require no thinking in deck construction and no synergy and are just "hurr durr best drop in this mana slot", like Shielded Minibot, Sylvanas, Rag, Dr. Boom or Lich King. This goes directly against the established default Call to Arms Paladin strategy (just like Odd Paladin if that becomes a viable option) while potentially offering enough power to compete if followed by similarly powerful synergistic cards. The card might not end up finding a home but I really like the design direction it's going in.
Minibot on Steroids.. nice!
we will have to wait for the rest of the cards...
Coghammer bird
Keep in mind, this is only the 3rd Paladin card we’ve seen so far. Blizzard surely made extra support for this card that we just haven’t seen yet.
So. Do we get more dragons?
