By turn 10 I have tops two cards in my hand so this is gonna be useful.
Also, by turn 10 my hp is usually quite low, so playing a 10 mana 8/8 that does something next turn is kinda bad.
Who comes up with this shit?
The devs, that know what the rest of the set will be, and at least two other expansions. This probably won't make sense inmediatelly, but most likely will be a must in hunter decks in future expansions, just like Raza didn't saw play until the KotFT came along, an after that it was so strong that it needed to be nerfed.
Sorry, you're implying Blizzard cares enough about the Hunter class to design viable synergy between their expansion legendary and the same expansion's mechanics instead of being a clunky piece of crap that only gives the buff to the original Mastiff while its echos continue to be overpriced terrible removal.
So, they're trying to push the Control Hunter archetype this time. I'm not opposed, since I like control decks, but Hunter's gonna need some more tools to make that happen. Most successful Control decks come with powerful removal spells. Hunter's most powerful spells are Spellstone to make guys, Flanking Strike which deals dmg and makes a guy, and what else? Kill Command? The only hard removal they have isDeadly Shot and Crushing Walls, which is a small AOE too I guess. Not much other AOE to speak of. Maybe Cave Hydra and the new legendary Houndmaster? Wandering Monster and Freezing Trap can protect your life total too I suppose. Generally, there's not a lot of really good tools for control Hunter, but I guess you could build a low tier deck for fun. The archetype will need a bit more tools, but maybe the rush cards will give us minion removal tools over spells, which could work well in the late game with Emeriss. We'll have to see, I guess.
If it was "... of all minions in your deck", maybe, but you also have to have a decent hand of cards by turn 10 as hunter, nope.
Actually, I play a dragon/beast hunter in wild and get regularly to turn 10. I play with lots of card generating cards (Jeweled Macaw,Netherspite Historian, Stonehill Defender and of course Deathstalker Rexxar) so my hand rarely get's empty. Overall the deck works pretty well, but I'm not sure if this card will work out in my deck. But I like the overall dragon support for hunter and I hope I can make this card work :D
Edit: And you are right, " ... of all minions in your deck" would be great and not really overpowered for 10 mana...
yeah you're thinking about the aggro and tempo archetypes, of course this card won't work there, but in a possible control hunter and Deathstalker Rexxar it might see play, but probably not a competitive card.
"Deck and hand" would have been much better.
Hmmmm.... let's see how the Full Reveal pans out. Could be fun!
Love this optimism!
Beside saving Ysera for obvious reasons in this deck.. How long can you keep your cards in your hand to buff with Emeriss . It's really optimistic idea.
Overall, I don't see the original decklist creatures getting a lot of buffs, and realistically I don't think you should be looking for a "Smuggler's Run" level of minions in hand. Very few decks accomplish that by turn 10, unless they're generating them as the game progresses.
We stave off playing some of our minions via cards like Flanking Strike and Emerald Spellstone/Secrets, and this can keep at least a few in-hand till the end. I figure that with the control cards available (at this moment) we can expect 2-3 other minions in-hand when we drop Emeriss.
The big card here is DK Rexxar. Generating a strong or "cheap-but-fast" minion every turn can be pretty nuts, and dropping Emeriss after you've had a few turns to do this can result in an entirely different handful, so to speak. I think Emeriss will see play, though I'm counting on the Devs to have created a few more supporting Control OR Minion Creation archetype cards that Hunter can use.
We'll see!
Effect doesn't follow lore.
boring.
16/16 King Krush yessir :D
Amazing effect, but it's 10 mana and a hunter card. I guess well see. Look forward to crafting this. :)
As Ben Brode said many times, not all cards have to be ultra efficient and competitive, a lot of cards are designed just for the memes. I can see Thijs and Savjz doing some cool things with Deathstalker Rexxar and this card in a control hunter.
8/8 is nothing?
Definitely Hunter is being groomed for even-costed decks. I think I should craft the DK tho. Good card btw
Is Dragon Hunter going to be a thing this expansion? The effect is nice, but Hunter rarely goes to turn 10. Maybe if Dragon Hunter became a thing it would?
