Rebirth Renamed to Reincarnate After Feedback
Blizzard has made the decision to change the name of the recently revealed Shaman card, Rebirth, to Reincarnate. The spell itself is not changing, only the name. For a full list of currently released Curse of Naxxramas cards, see this post.
Quote from ZeriyahWe decided to change the name of the new Shaman Naxx card "Rebirth" to "Reincarnate". Thanks for the feedback!
The new warlock card will be awesome at summoning Jaraxxus, I wonder if this card can kill Jaraxxus just like Sacrificial Pack card that destroy target demon.
I'm not sure how this happened in the first place, but I'm glad they are fixing it!
Not terrible.
Now they can make the next new druid spell rebirth and confuse us all.
Should have been called Ankh, because that is what everyone calls the spell in wow
well if its re-incarnation is shoudl respawn as another minion from your deck... just saying
Just as long as I don't need a stack of Ankhs to cast it, I approve.
I don't even know if I was the first guy to say reincarnation out loud but even if I wasn't I fell so odd that I was one of the first to suggest something to a major company and to be taken seriously :D Awsome Blizzard
Reynad? Is that you?
who is reynad? and whats with all the negative votes? I didn't even assume I was the first person to say it I said one of the first. Plus Can't I feel overjoyed about something without getting nagative votes :D
That's a lot better, now it fits with shaman lore.
you mean, you actually gave it a shaman spell name and not the name from another class? you'd think you guys naming the cards don't know how to look at the WoWTCG or the warcraft wikis about the spell names.
that's not a precurse to feedback, that's fixing a BLATANT error.
Yea, the person who thought up the spell name probably didn't realize it was already a druid spell. Not that reincarnate in WoW really makes much sense as it is, seeing as it typically means a new body unlike the old one which could be a different species. Although reincarnate does indicate a freeing of the ailments and accomplishments of a past self, which this spell does do by removing silence and buffs.
If we were to follow closer to what reincarnate means: the card would read:
When a friendly minion dies, put another random minion from your deck to take its place.
That being said, for the current spell mechanic, reincarnate is probably the closest WoW spell.
Cool,it was bugging me.
Good to see Blizzard listens to the community.
Oh man, for a name change. Now if only we could get them to listen to us for the good ideas.
For anyone wondering, the rename was prompted because the spell 'Rebirth' is a Druid spell in World of Warcraft which brings a character back to life, whereas 'Reincarnate' is the Shaman ability which causes the Shaman to self-resurrect. Rebirth makes more sense based on what the card does, but Reincarnate is more thematically correct.
Ahh. That makes far more sense. Not being a player of WoW I would never of known the lore aspect behind this decision.
Blizzard probably should have added another sentence into this announcement to explain the change for those of us who didn't care enough to follow the community feedback on it.
This... is just stupid. So now the word "birth" is offensive? WTF?!
It's because Rebirth is a druid spell in WoW, and this is a shaman card..............
