Possible Naxx Pricing Structure Leak
This information has not been officially announced by Blizzard. Also important to note that the information about the last wing also does not match previous information. The image is circulating Chinese sites. Please keep in mind none of this information is verified.
Update:
Quote from @ZeriyahWe haven't announced anything just yet regarding pricing for Naxx. Once we have details to share, we'll discuss them on official channels.

We understand that a lot of people are excited for the release of Curse of Naxxramas — we are too! However, we haven't announced anything just yet regarding pricing for the upcoming Adventure. Once we have further details to share, including pricing, we'll let everyone know via our official channels.
A wild slide has appeared! A number of websites in China have picked up an image of a slide which contains the pricing information for the upcoming Hearthstone adventure, the Curse of Naxxramas.
According to the image, all of Naxxramas will cost 5,000 Gold, or $90 USD (¥558). The image also states that wing prices will decrease by 100 gold by completing objectives in a previous wing. See below for a wing price breakdown.
Wing | Bosses | New Cards | Gold Price | USD Price | Yuan Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Arachnid Quarter | 3 | 4 | Free | Free | Free |
Plague Quarter | 3 | 4 | 500 | $9 | ¥55.8 |
Contruct Quarter | 4 | 6 | 1,000 | $18 | ¥111.6 |
Military Quarter | 3 | 5 | 1,500 | $27 | ¥167.4 |
Frostwyrm Lair | 2 | 6 | 2,000 | $36 | ¥223.2 |
Naxxramas pricing seems much higher than the community feels it should be. What's your take on it?
Keep in mind guys, that if this post is accurate, the price won't really be 5k for all wings. The price could be reduced for each wing based on previous objective completion. It may turn out to be the ~2.5k we were expecting, should you complete the bonus/class objectives, etc.
I tend to not be a cheap person, as I've already sunk hundreds into this game. However, $90 just seems a little high.
Second this.
Alot of people here have no conception of card games. I was fully expecting 1000g per wing, so my estimations were about 1000g off, but that is besides the point. When a IRL TCG launches a new expansion it cost $60 USD for a box a cards, and one box does not even get your close to getting all the cards in the set, it cost hundreds of dollars to complete new expansion card sets.
And hearthstone lets you earn it all for just in game gold. I guess many of you do not like hearthstone much because you want it fail. Hearthstone is unique, they give great artwork, animation, and voice acting for each card, as well as, all the work that goes into design and balance, and you want it all for pennies.
Blizzard makes no money off of this game besides the selling of new cards, and they probably do not bring out any new cards for this game but every 6+months, meaning the only way to pay the development team and make money is to sell the cards they do have, while they work on new ones for the next xpac.
Dude, just....stop. This isn't an expansion, and this isn't a physical card game, and this isn't MtG. Boxes in Mtg cost that price because you can actually sell and trade the cards you get. That's not possible in HS. And this isn't an expansion. It's not 200 new cards with new mechanics that you buy booster packs to hopefully get. It's an adventure mode that, as a reward, gives you 30 cards once you complete it.
They just aren't comparable at all.
My point was that it cost Hundreds of dollars to complete a set of IRL card games. While this game is not IRL, I am fully aware of that, it is STILL a card game, a card collecting game, and in comparison it is worlds cheaper, and all the cards can even be earned for free. What do you not understand about this comparison?
Blizzard intends on this to be expensive, it suppose to provide a long time consuming challenge, to hold you off until the next expansion.
"in the end the market decides whether or not a product is worth its price... and Hearthstone's target demographic very obviously is the F2P video game market."
Now this statement I cannot argue with, but I was trying to bring perspective in for those that may be naive about card collecting games, and Blizzard only really has other card game markets value to base their prices on, without any real test on what people are willing to pay for their game, this is the first expansion.
But with the F2P label people automatically think they get a game, that dozens of people have slaved over and polished, for "free". It is no easy task to develop, balance, create artwork, voice acting and polish a game as Hearthstone, and not expect to be reward with profit for it. I just think people misunderstand the F2P model. $90 may be a little high, but to me it is not so insanely unrealistic as people are making it out to be.
That only list 25 cards. There are 5 cards are missing.
Um, can you even READ Chinese? The text says "100 gold will be rewarded after the completion of construct and frost lair", it said NOTHING about the price decreasing. Learn to read noob.
Also, the price of the plague, military, and construct quarters are 500/1000/1500, meaning whichever of the three you choose first will cost 500, second will cost 1000 and so on. Please get your info straight before posting BS.
I'm saddened that people find these prices (in gold) ridiculous... game's not that hard. 500g per wing is easy, I can make 1000g a week playing arena for fun. If getting the gold for these wings seems hard, chances are you don't have most of the cards already anyways, take your time, content isn't going anywhere and if you're not competitive, you don't need to get all the cards right away.
Probaby an intentional leak.
But anyway, this is IMO way too much.
I was waiting for the first patch to get an idea if I would keep playing that game and if it goes that way, I obviously won't.
They stil have to give some hope to those f2p players, don't they? The game just doesn't have the depth of MTG and can't expect all players to be willing to pay that much for a F2P. I won't pay 36$ for this and 5000 gold is a lot, even for someone who plays a lot.
If they are expecting players to pay 15$ a month like their MMO, I think it's way too ambitious for that kind of game.
I find the pricing here unlikely. Though that said since I started saving gold when naxx was first announced (which was unfortunately after I had just spent all the gold I had save up buying 36 packs) I am sitting pretty good at 4k gold from just dailies as that is all I have had time to play.
Am I the only one noticing it goes up $9 each time? I'm thinking it's a linear progression. To break it down for you it isn't 9+18+27+36 = $90 It's more like $9= wing 1, $9= wing 2 (total 18), $9 = wing 3 (total 27), $9 = wing 4 (total 36).
I agree, I think it's cumulative. For everyone thinking it's going to cost $90 US Dollars for all the wings, first of all, that's a price not even Blizzard could justify, and second: learn to Maths...
The price won't fit, ever. Simply because 30 cards are not worth that much. Them are basic soulbound cards, given only a rarity to be able to be implemented properly into arena, no other reason is there. Blizzard would be brain damaged to leave out the majority of their customers from a new feature. It is "not fun" to need to store gold for months to be able to gain access to few cards and that them try to prevent as they mentioned a lot.
The prices look real and are about as expensive as expected (I was one of those who said it would be 1000-1500 per wing from the start). I don't understand why people are so optimistic about the prices.
I don't think the prices are real at all, I don't expect anything more than 3-4 times more than a arena run.
Lol these gold prices are ridiculous. They really really need to increase the gold income from quests/winning 3 games if these prices are even close to being true ;_;
people i think 2000 is the total nongolden price and 5000 the total golden
This makes sense. 2000 is right around the pricing I would have figured for three wings. $90 for Naxx would be ridiculous. I don't see how Blizzard could rationalize that.
