Showdown at Blackrock Mountain is This Week's Tavern Brawl
These two epic bosses of Blackrock Mountain are settling things once and for all... with your help!
Trivia
- This is the fourth time we've seen this brawl.
- This brawl made its debut on June 17, 2015.
- This brawl was the first ever Tavern Brawl! You're playing history!
- Games take place on the Blackrock Mountain gameboard with Molten Core card backs
How it Works
- Queue up and receive either Nefarian or Ragnaros as your hero.
- Ragnaros starts with 60 Health. His hero power is Molten Rage when initially summoned, which switches to DIE, INSECT! after Sulfuras has been destroyed.
- Nefarian starts with 30 Health and 30 Armor. His hero power is Wild Magic.
- Each deck contains very special cards with unique playstyles.
- Nefarian has an early game advantage in that he starts with extra mana crystals (4) and he can drop some great minions. Tons of RNG through his hero power though, so hope for the best!
- Ragnaros is weaker early game but if you get to turn 6 after always using your weapon, you get an amazing hero power. Make sure you mulligan for cheap cards to help!

Discuss this Week's Brawl
Head on over to our brawl forum to talk about the brawl.
PACK's PLS! wtf
First Brawl ever !!!
it's a good brawl yes, but i don't feel it as a "Wildfest Brawl", i mean, blizzard used this brawl in the past when nothing was going on, like rafaam vs KT, and we probably will have it again out of the wildfest, but well, is done.
Was not thrilled to see this brawl again... but the free pack had a golden Prophet Velen so I’ve warmed up to it.
showing off is mean
Still love this brawl :)
Love playing Rag as opposed to lots of people it seems :D
Rag's the better deck after T5. So, I don't see why so many people hate him.
Rag is way better if you attack since turn 1, the hero power its really op
Rag has a great deck - plus the attitude - as opposed to Nef that mostly relies on RNG to get a win ...
Just like in wild : Ragnaros the Firelord > Nefarian
Well that's it. It's a basic situational awareness thing. If you know after 6 swings, your hero power will be bananas good, you should be going full tilt on that puppy.
this is the first brawl blizzard has ever made.
Is it just me or does Rag really suck? Neferian feels like the easiest wins of my life
Ok... this again...
Not complaining or anything but the announcement of an annoucement for the oficial annoucement of the new expansion don't take too long this time?
Gotta love my luck. Playing as Rag, I play Living Bomb and they Wild Magic into Silence... Okay, so I'm playing as Nef, I Wild Magic twice in a row for Cryostasis... This kind of awesomeness happened to me for six straight games. Yeah, fun brawl.
I hate this Brawl soooooo much.
Man I love the brawls where we get to play as new characters.
Oh, and I just noticed the Legendary gems on the non-collectable legendaries are gone in the Brawl. When Blizz said they'd make that more consistent, they weren't kidding. I'm impressed.
While a decent brawl, I still don't think that it's particularly well balanced. Nefarian's early mana advantage evaporates very quickly. Unless you hit really good spells off of his hero power, or your Ragnaros opponent plays into things in silly fashion, you're getting out-valued fairly quickly.
I was down early as Ragnaros but managed to stabilize and counter with really scary strong efficiency. Rags' deck has a ton of removal and that his hero power flips over to your standard random-8 after the hammer goes down, a hammer with 2 power and 6 swings to help on board control or go face, is really brutal to overcome.
I think it's a well thought out brawl, but they need to do something here. Either up the strength of Nef's deck and lower his mana advantage, or give Rags' a bit of a power down. Otherwise, unless Nef has a serious advantage at 5, he's pretty well hosed.
It’s funny because I normally see it go the other way. A lot of times I see Nef snowball before Rag has any sort of chance.
I noticed the same thing. I don't remember Nefarian being quite so underpowered in the previous brawls, but in the few games that I played this time, Rag won them all easily.
