Showdown at Blackrock Mountain is This Week's Tavern Brawl
These two epic bosses of Blackrock Mountain are settling things once and for all... with your help!
Trivia
- This is the fourth time we've seen this brawl.
- This brawl made its debut on June 17, 2015.
- This brawl was the first ever Tavern Brawl! You're playing history!
- Games take place on the Blackrock Mountain gameboard with Molten Core card backs
How it Works
- Queue up and receive either Nefarian or Ragnaros as your hero.
- Ragnaros starts with 60 Health. His hero power is Molten Rage when initially summoned, which switches to DIE, INSECT! after Sulfuras has been destroyed.
- Nefarian starts with 30 Health and 30 Armor. His hero power is Wild Magic.
- Each deck contains very special cards with unique playstyles.
- Nefarian has an early game advantage in that he starts with extra mana crystals (4) and he can drop some great minions. Tons of RNG through his hero power though, so hope for the best!
- Ragnaros is weaker early game but if you get to turn 6 after always using your weapon, you get an amazing hero power. Make sure you mulligan for cheap cards to help!

Discuss this Week's Brawl
Head on over to our brawl forum to talk about the brawl.
Thx Blizz! :D
go play lottery dude wtf this pack
Me 2 ^^
I didn't know the heroes are so unbalanced, I just won with Nefarian on my first try, took my pack, and never looked back.
All you need is an aggressive starting hand to pull a win with Nefarian... that and a whole lots of favorable RNG with your Hero Power ...
Not impossible, just a little trickier
The brawl is nice ... but the two heros are too unbalanced - I gort the 5 brawls quest:
1) Nefarian LOST
2) Nefarian LOST
3) Nefarian LOST
4) Ragnaros WON
5) Ragnaros WON
6) Nefarian - I conceded immediately (no time to loose)
7) Ragnaros WON
8) Ragnaros WON (enemy onceded immediately)
9) Nefarian - I conceded immediately (no time to loose)
10) Ragnaros WON
Just played Coren Direbrew vs Coren Direbrew and I brawled and his Coren Direbrew won.... twice..... wtf
I seem to have a knack for getting unplayable spells when playing as Nef 90% of the time. Bestial Wrath...Shatter...Dinomancy...pure pain.
most inbalanced tavernbrawl ever
sit there and get your face beat on while waiting for much needed cards to never come
just like regular play...
sh1tty brawl but i love it! <3
Is it some kind of bug,or why am i getting rag all the time?Played about 15 times and never got nefarian.
Rag might be more consistent, but Nefarian is still OP. Mainly due to people not knowing how to play Rag.
Nefarian can be both good and bad, it's RNG fiesta.
As Rag you just need to get rid of the weapon asap, after that you can easily kill everything that Nef puts on the table.
So I had a game where the first minion that was played (which was by myself) was Atramedes. That was a one sided game from the start.
oponent plays 20/20 dude for 0mana, i got random spell from hero power for 0 mana - polymorph
gg wp
Too many comments saying the same thing, can't answer each so I'll answer it here:
1) Yes, it's the 4th time, but it's a classic and I'm not sure how many people have been here 3 years ago when it first appeared. It's also 8 months since the last time and still one of the best brawls ever imho.
2) Yes, Nefarian is favoured, if and only if you get some really great counters through your spell generation. That, or you're playing all the people here that think since a Magma Rager is a terrible card it's not even worth getting it a) Against a deck that Has hardly any way to deal with it b) When it costs 2 instead of 3 and c) When it doesn't waste you a card and can be played repeatedly.
Sure, you can lose to Nefarian by turn 4 sometimes, but you have to be very unlucky to lose more then you win with Rag if you just know how to play him.
Nefarian still too broken.....
Only if you get super lucky with the random spells. Having no reasonable way to deal with a 5/1 nearly every turn in the early game (and if you don't use the hero power, you're playing it wrong) actually makes Ragnaros the better consistent hero.
I lost to nefarian when the first spell he got was Upgrade! and there's no going back from losing 3 ragers for no mana, but I still won against one that got a Razorpetal Volley
