Hearthstone Update for February Contains New Events, Possible Balance Changes
A new patch has been confirmed for next month which at the very least will contain some new "cool" events Ben Brode has confirmed earlier today via Twitter.
- If the team decides to make balance changes, that is the earliest any will happen.
- We wonder if this will include the arena-only cards for future usage.
Is there anything specific you'd like to see changed in a possible balance update?
Quote from Ben BrodeBeen reading discussions about balance; we have an update coming next month which includes some cool events, and that is when any balance changes would happen. We'll be sure to announce any changes as the patch gets closer. See you at the HCT World Championship next week!
The two cards I would nerf are:
Corridor Creeper
And;
Another nerf to Spreading Plague - it's the one card I feel bad when it's played against me. Especially with arcane tyrant.
Dude, why waste your time type it all up in here?
All I see here are happy faces because they think that blizzard will actually nerf the new problematic cards such as Corridor Creeper when they'll just nerf some basic/classic cards that didn't deserve it (Power Word: Shield to 2 mana or something ridiculous like that).
The sad thing is with all the combo priest recently I could actually see this as a logical nerf for Blizzard's reasoning
See, that's precisely why it shouldn't be nerfed. Power Word: Shield wasn't a problematic card in the first place so it shouldn't be changed. Instead you should target new cards that ideally only combo priest runs for nerfs to not nerf the whole class, as well as deleting some decks forever. A clear example of this was the Innervate nerf, which makes it impossible to play any old deck that uses it in the same way as before such as Astral Communion Druid, one of my favourite decks. What's the point of wild if I can't play my old decks because some stupid new cards are breaking standard and they don't want to nerf them?
Gadgetzan Auctioneer balanced ... mhm yeah right what about miracle rogue ... tha't also is not funny at all play against ... and see how the other player cycle the whole deck and drawing all his win conditions
Pretty much agree with your points. The Corridor Creeper change is quite likely I agree. Making it enemy minions that die would make it a worse card, as Creeper is (currently at least) an aggro tool that would punish a Control player's board clear. But any change is worth getting excited about.
2 adjustments I'd like to see are:
Sorcerer's Apprentice - Reduce cost of spells by 1 and NOT to be a stacked benefit. It's always been OP but now Open The Waygate means that this card enables an utterly ridiculous deck.
The Darkness - Make it so the candles can't be burnt. This would make it a more viable legendary.
Well quest mage is not OP at all, unless you play rank 25.
They weren't trying to be constructive, or insult you. They're just glad you're not in charge
Tbh, keeping in mind we are approaching to Rotation, i don't feel we really need any nerf.
If i had to bet, i would point to minor nerfs on either Creeper or Bonemare.
I would not know how to fix Doomguard without ruining the card, and i actually think Zoolock is not as oppressing as, say, pre-nerf Jade Druid or Pirate Warrior. At least not yet.
I am also worried for Wild, but the fact that Cubelock can't deal with Razakus means nothing. Leave Cubelock where it is.
DK Anduin can't be nerfed, because Standard and Rotation.
And the only way to touch Raza without casting it into oblivion is making it discount only the CURRENT hero power: that way Razakus becomes more strictly a combo deck, where order matters.
Well, we'll see...
Nobody would have a problem with Doomguard if it wasn't so easy to duplicate them. The fact that they can be duplicated so easily on a swing turn with Skull and Cube + Dark Pact on curve at times (T5 Skull, T6 Cube + Dark Pact) is where the problem lies. Increase the cost of cube, which to me was always undercosted and the combo immediately becomes less swingy and instead late game-y.
Priest on the other hand. Anyone asking for Priest nerfs and namely Highlander Priest is asking for the impossible. The strength of the deck comes mainly from 2 cards, Raza and Shadowreaper. Mindblast + Velen has always been around, so you can't say you want nerfs on that when before Highlander you've never had a problem with it. If almost every other card in their deck is meant to stall until the combo is out, there is nothing that can be balanced without ruining the decktype. One thing you could do is reduce the power of their stabilizing spells and stalls so they have a rougher time getting to the combo, but you realize that involves nerfing a number of cards, which will not happen.
Make Raza more expensive, you'll only gib a few turns of free healing until your big threats are blown away by Shadowreaper's Battlecry. Waiting until the battlecry is out is waiting till after turn 8 to play any big threats with more than 5 attack. Play any threats less than 5 attack to rush them down is not fast enough as they have a variety of spells to both stabilize and board clear.
Of course, if they don't draw Shadowreaper you're lucky and will probably destroy them. But relying on draw to determine success or failure isn't putting much decision making in the hands of BOTH opponents, so I'm not so sure how I even feel with that victory. Though you could argue that's how combo decks function.
So there's not much wiggle room to balance Priest until Raza rotates, which is probably what Blizzard will wait for in terms of balancing the class.
Haha just cause I said there's no way to nerf it doesn't mean I play the class. I actually play Warlock (see my collection). I actually dislike the Priest matchup, but I can be fair enough to see that Highlander Priest can't be safely nerfed at this point. And honestly I'd welcome the change to Cube, I prefer Control Warlock to Cubelock anyday. Way more fun.
