Hearthstone Update for February Contains New Events, Possible Balance Changes
A new patch has been confirmed for next month which at the very least will contain some new "cool" events Ben Brode has confirmed earlier today via Twitter.
- If the team decides to make balance changes, that is the earliest any will happen.
- We wonder if this will include the arena-only cards for future usage.
Is there anything specific you'd like to see changed in a possible balance update?
Quote from Ben BrodeBeen reading discussions about balance; we have an update coming next month which includes some cool events, and that is when any balance changes would happen. We'll be sure to announce any changes as the patch gets closer. See you at the HCT World Championship next week!
So send Doomguard to the HOF two months before the rotation when cards are actually sent to the HOF. Yea that makes sense. Trust me, we can wait two months if it is going to happen.
They have used tentative and accommodating language in the past about the HoF timeframe. They may surprise everyone. It's going to be an early spring this year and a meta shakeup might be what they need to keep people playing the game longer.
No, they have always said moving cards to HoF is only gonna happen at the same time as the rotations. There was no "tentative" language there.
Judging by these comments half of the Hearthpwn users dont know how the game works at all. They just want to nerf cards that they dont like play against. Im suprised someone havent suggested a Prince Keleseth nerf. Or you know, "that OP Bittertide Hydra" because i dont like loosing against hunters. Boohooo xDDDDDDD
Nerf my life into pieces, this is my last retort.... Hex
"Balance" of course means "nerf". I find it somewhat silly how they like to talk about "balancing" when they stated multiple times they would never buff underplayed/underpowered cards.
Anyways, a nerf at this point would only highlight the problem once more that expansions and rotations happen all too slow. I suppose they would want to hit Priest, Paladin and perhaps Warlock or Rogue, but most of these decks will partially or entirely disappear after rotation anyway. Cubelock would mostly survive, but that's where the first expansion 2018 can change everything again.
In other words, a nerf at this point would only help for the next 3 months and likely turns another couple cards unplayable as usual. I wish, Team 5 would start reconsidering their strategy.
My guess is Corridor Creeper nerf and maybe something that will address the tier 1 contenders right now.
I'd say Doomguard for cubelock since that's the only high tier deck that will maintain almost all of its cards when the new standard rotation comes around.
tho it's probly safer to guess that Doomguard will become a hall of fame card with the next rotation.
Doom guard won't get changed. They could make it a 4/7. Which is buff cause priest. Changing the cost doesnt matter because Cubelock only uses it as it can be cheated out with skull or Lackey. The only thing they could do is remove the demon tag which makes no sense.
"tho it's probly safer to guess that Doomguard will become a hall of fame card with the next rotation."
mate
I doubt we'll see any changes to Highlander Priest. The deck is basically the same as it's been since mid-KFT meta and they didn't do anything about it then. They did gain Psychic Scream, which is annoying, but at this point I think it's clear Blizzard is willing to let this one ride until rotation.
Cubelock doesn't lose much at rotation, so I could see something from this deck getting weakened. However, I have no idea what card(s) that would be. The deck is very high power level though and will be even more powerful (in comparison to other decks) once rotation happens as basically every other deck loses a bunch of cards, but Cubelock loses very little that actually matters. Yes, new cards will come in when others go out and thus answers may be introduced, but this deck will continue to grow in power as Standard gets larger again over the course of next year and that could be an issue.
As far as specific cards, I could see Corridor Creeper getting weakened a bit. It's not quite as obnoxious as it was the first week after K&C release since the meta has adapted to it, but it is still very powerful and can seemingly go in almost any deck. After that nothing stands out to me as something that MUST be changed. I see a lot of calls for Bonemare, but if we didn't see a nerf to it over the Fall, I doubt we're going to see one now as it gets played less now than it was back then. Any changes to Classic/Basic cards most likely won't happen until rotation which is when they seem to like to make changes to older cards and utilize the Hall of Fame.
It'd be nice if Blizzard stops blaming the Classic and Basic sets for all the overpowered and forced archetypes they launch.
(See Spreading Plague, Jade Idol, Ultimate Infestation but nerfing Innervate instead)
Spreading Plague's nerf was a joke.
But at least they wisely nerfed Hex - overplayed card in every Shaman deck which was ruling the ladder before the nerf, and continues to dominate unabated.
Nice irony there
Ice Block and Shadowstep to HoF. They limit design space the most and heavily promote uninteractive gameplay.
I got golden Jaina with old freeze mage and Valeera with old miracoli. I don't like you comment.
Velen and Mindblast don't need nerf. You're already asking for a Raza nerf which would probably kill Razakus making Velen and Mindblast as playable as in the past (almost unplayable).
This is actually super hilarious. Forever rank 18 player right here.
"you know the good cards? make them not good"
