Deck Spotlight: Stancifka's StarLadder Hunter ft. Spiteful Summoner & Grand Archivist
StanCifka is back with another deck guide to teach you how to better yourself at Hearthstone. Today we're getting insight into a fun Hunter deck that is being taken to StarLadder this week but should be fun enough for you to take onto the ladder and force some quits with its epic combo.
You can follow StanCifka on Twitch, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
General Gameplan
With this deck you are playing a regular Hunter deck, going fast and hard on the board. However, you got some big aces up your sleeve in case your opponent starts to stabilize. Spiteful Summoner will awlays hit Call of the Wild, creating something like 13/13 stats for 6 mana, which is just crispy. Out of those you often get Ysera which generates even more value, or Dragonhatcher which will bring you Cobalt Scalebane, which is the reason I run 2.

StanLULka again........................
If you wanna get to rank 5 fast, this is the deck. It's brainless and powerful, like a huge maul. Just play fat juicy minions, face is the place and smash that button to victory!
To the folks who say "Priest is better", yeah maybe the cards are better. But you don't have Steady Shot or weapons in Priest.
haha, exactly!
Went from R3 to Legend with the Deck a few days ago with a total of 34-17
Got 10-2 against Priests. Best. feeling. ever.
All the decks use the same cards this expansion...
So create a deck that uses completely different cards then. It's a challenge I'm sure you're up to!
The advice to new decks with different cards is both true and insufficient.
Patches and Corridor Creeper and Spiteful Summoner are in so many decks because they are all incredibly strong. Bonemare has fallen a little bit, but it's still up there. The amount of board presence for the mana is obscene. It's true that in a game like Hearthstone, there will always be cards which are common in a great many decks. That's why Sylvanas and Azure Drake and Ragnaros were Hall-of-Famed.
I think there's also a level to which this sameness is acceptable, and a level where it isn't. I think the sameness level of Heathstone right now is higher than it ought to be. In 3ish months when Patches rotates out, that'll be so nice. At least Prince 2 forces some unusual deck-building choices, but I have the feeling I'll be so sick of Corridor Creeper by the time it finally rotates.
I have to admit I am finding Corridor Creeper kind of oppressive already.
I love Spiteful Summoner. That's some old fashioned fun RnG right there.
I like this deck, it is quite funny to play and the Spiteful Summoner + Call of the Wild combo can be very powerful. However, this deck lacks of card drawing, so drawing one Call of the Wild in early game or when you are topdecking in midgame is disastreous, not to mention if you draw both.
Why is this getting downvoted ? You are absolutely right. There's no card draw whatsoever in this deck so if you run out of steam, you are basically dead.
you're right. I even played a single Crushing Walls in the deck for a while to up the chances of Spiteful/Archivist actually hitting. In the end i just switched to Priest - Free from Amber/Mind Control seems a much better package.
edit - oh wait - opening comment said 'card draw' - thats something you don't want to do, as it ups the chances of no longer having call of the wild in your deck. You're better off creating cards if you need more gas - of course those usually arent very aggressive/tempo, but in a deck trying to cheat out spells something like Stonehill Defender, Curious Glimmerroot or even Grimestreet Informant works a lot better than say Acolyte of Pain or Novice Engineer-likes.
you are right, I should have said "card generator".
Synergy >>> Combo wombo
Does this deck have a decent matchup against Raza priest? I'm hovering around a 25% winrate against priest this expansion and I'm losing my mind trying to find anything at all that can beat it.
The best counter IMO is unfortunately to just kill them as quick as you can, so they don't have a chance to combo with Raza and Anduin. Not very fun, but effective! Which is why I feel Hunter may be making surge in the meta soon. Especially with decks like this.
I've had several games with one of these decks where I draw both Call of the Wilds before turn 6, so if that happens you are pretty much just screwed there is no longer anything for Spiteful Summoner to cast.
Same goes for Warlock and Possessed Lackey + Voidlord combo. Nonetheless, when it works it's just feelsgoodman
Well except that grand archivist costs 9 mana so you’re More likely to draw into your spell. But yeah
