Technically a more balanced iceblock. I can see a use for this card although I am sure it is more of a 1-of type of card.
For some reason, I find this card to be BETTER than Iceblock, especially for OTK rogue decks. The card makes you immune IMMEDIATELY after taking damage, meaning that if your opponent has a strong board presence, only one of those cards will be capable of inputing damage. Additionally, it costing 1 mana less could make a big deal with a deck containing Sprint. You play this card, then you play valeera the Hollow (making you almost immune for another turn), then play the secret again (for another immunity turn, if you have the health for it). All the while playing cards which draw into more cards until you find your combo then WAZZAM, opponent is dead.
I'd imagine it to be a deck very similar to Freeze Mage. Plus, this card hard counters Quest Mage in a VERY strong fashion.
So, Ice Block, but a bit changed?
Blizzard, why?
only not at all. Immune this turn is far from Immune when you take lethal damage.
ummmm....ok....thanks for saying exactly what I said. I guess we agree then.
It's not immune WHEN you take damage, it's immune AFTER you take damage. So if the first hit kills you and you have evasion up, you still die.
Ice Block specifically prevents lethal damage whereas evasion does not, and that is the most important difference between the two, not the fact that evasion pops after you take any damage (not just lethal).
wouldn't it have made more thematic sense for rogue to have gained stealth?
More thematic definitely, but would be a totally different (and weaker) mechanic. Anything that deals damage to your hero (e.g. sinister strike) would still damage you. Anything which chooses targets randomly (e.g. any damage + noggenfogger, lol) could still damage you. This is supposed to be ice block for rogues (which is nuts by the way edit: even though yes this is probably weaker than ice block), not stealth.
2 out of 3 rogue secrets can be revealed by attacking hero so actually all rogue secrets can be revealed by attacking hero since if nothing happen when you attack hero it is Cheat Death. Of course, for Sudden Betrayal you need to be more than one minion on board but it is still quite straightforward to play around rogue secrets compared to other classes which have secrets. Hopefully they will release more secrets in the future to make it more difficult to play around those.
Also it is quite difficult to make rogue secrets stay in standard more than two years since none of the secrets belongs to classic set.
They can all be worked out by attacking the face with a minion yes. But how you want to do that for best results is different for each, so assuming they are all played, it might actually be more difficult to play around than if they were all completely independent.
E.g., do you attack with a big minion to maximise damage if it is Evasion? But what if it is Sudden Betrayal? A smaller, neighbouring minion may die either way, but if you attacked with that instead you would still be able to make a useful attack with the larger one. In this scenario you cannot play around both because they punish opposite choices.
i wouldnt say so much worse because its still playable. but yes the ice block comparison is too off of a comparison.
nobody will know this card better or worse than ice block before probably 2 months after expansion release, like what prince keleseth does
Harry Potter?
Why does that kobold have you cloak..?
i can see this in every mill rogues
This card may be playable, but cant be compared with Ice Block.
First because you have to wait to play it when you are about to die.
Second because can be easily avoided, since you become immune after taking the "first" damage of the turn.
They said that there will only be 3 secrets for rogue in this expansion and that it‘s not planned to introduce more rogue secrets in future expansions
It could be used just to prevent a bunch of damage from a large board.
It's like a Ice Block for Rogue, but it actually takes skill to use.
It's hard to know when to play this if you can't predict your opponent as the best time to play this card obviously would be right before you die - but you have to adjust it to your opponents burst.
Maybe you have to play it when you're at 11 Health even though your opponent only has a 2/3 on the board because they could be sitting on Pyroblast, maybe you have to take the risk and wait a turn with playing it in order to have any chance at winning the game?
Pretty decent card...loving rogue in this expansion
