Quote from DaxxarriJoin Hearthstone Mission Designer Dave Kosak as he reveals more about the development process that went into the creation of the new Dungeon Run single-player game mode coming in Kobolds & Catacombs.
What’s a Dungeon Run?
Dungeon Run is a new insanely fun, single-player “rogue-like” mode where you’ll face deadly encounters and collect incredible Treasures to build a deck worthy of a hero!
When your Dungeon Run starts, you’ll choose a Hero and receive a starting deck consisting of 10 cards. You’ll use it to overcome eight encounters of increasing difficulty (chosen randomly from a huge pool of 48 possible encounters!) to clear the run.
That initial deck might be enough to help you squeak by your first opponent, but you’ll need to get stronger if you hope to clear the whole run. Each time you defeat a Dungeon Run encounter, you’ll be given an opportunity to “level up” your Dungeon Run deck with themed sets of three cards appropriate to your class. Occasionally, you’ll also be able to pick from a selection of three incredibly powerful Treasure cards—non-collectible cards and abilities made just for this mode that are too blatantly overpowered to see normal play.
You’ll need all that power—as well as your wits—because these encounters can be fiendishly difficult. Victory is not assured, and each encounter has its own unique perils. If one of them gets the better of you, defeat is permanent, so you’ll have to start a different run with a whole new deck!
If you manage to complete a full Dungeon Run with each of the nine Classes—no mean feat!—you’ll add the Candle King card back to your collection.

Hmmm... what if they are at 10 cards in hand?
If i see machine gun priest, exodia mage, exodia paladin or rotface warrior looking for the missing pieces, ill just play this and win lol!!!
So, let's do the math: 8 mana 5/5 and to negate his effect opponent plays a 5 mana card so in the end you played a 5/5 for 3 mana!
If he swap back next turn he has one card from your deck, but you have none from his deck. It's like he draws from your deck for 1 turn
But you will give your topdeck card to your oponent .
If the opponent switches back 1 turn, the only card they will have drawn from your deck is the kings ransom card, so effectively they didn't draw any cards from your deck.
Nevermind, didn't notice it got put into your opponents hand.
Finally a counter for Azari, the Devourer!
hmm, now I know what I'll get from my guaranteed leg in first 10 packs...
Anyone else think Ben looks a bit like Zeth Rogen? Might explain a thing or two? ;)
Printing cards like this one is an insult. Blizzard is making fun of the players with this absolute garbage of a card. Not fucking cool
lol no
i love it
You do realize that there is supposed to be a fun side of the game right?
gonna be super fun when its your first legendary
They have been really crazy with the Legendary effects lately. I like it.
Also, there's a typo in that card. "Ransom", wich reminds me of "The Hansons".
A typo?
Ransom is an actual word, and the spell is named... Ransom. Not everything has to be "random". ^^
Oh, I'm dumb. For a second I thought it was meant to be "a random" spell.
Didn't pay much attention, lol.
IDK … the card back doesn't yell at me "use me!" but maybe the animated version looks better. For the only reward I expected something more epic because winning 8 games with 9 classes against unknown opponents will definitely take some hours.
I think fatiguing yourself and playing this card is a terrible idea. Your opponent will fatigue for 1, then they'll play the ransom spell, and then you'll endlessly fatigue. You can't play Counterspell in the same turn because the King is too high costed. Lorewalker Cho might be a genuinely interesting card to combo with this just because you can play it in the same turn.
