guess this expansion brings back an updated Joust mechanic...
2 mana 2/2 : show your opponent card to play around if you draw it. No thank you.
Actually it's a card draw versus kelleseth decks, so its a sort of a tech card if there are many those decks in meta.
I honestly don't get why so many of you say this is a bad card. You don't know what you're talking about or haven't played as a control mage, that has a good handful of higher cost spells. You also need to take into consideration that your joust is even more likely to succeed when facing classes that don't run high cost spells.
This card will see play in control mage.
Would you play a 2 mana 2/2 "Draw a spell"? What if you added "... and show it to your opponent" to it? Still convinced? What if it severely limited the kind of spells you can put in your deck AND it was still only viable in a handful of matchups?
Still think this will see play?
Fair point, but good players will either know what you're net-decking and/or know to play around the possibility of you having a certain card (like Pyro) in your hand anyway.
Joust returns... Another card that convinces me that this expansion will be a gimmicky shit show.
Peeky Beaky. Stop staring at my spells at my spells.
makes control mage much better again aggro decks, especially evolve shaman, token druid, pirate warriors, zoo lock
Would've been cool if it were a 2/3. That way it would mirror King's Elekk a lot better (swapped stats and has the same effect for different card types).
Maybe they wanted to keep Enchanted Raven's stats for consistency? As it is, the 2/2 stats are nothing to write home about.
A try to make this bad mechanic great. I think, that it's a good try in good moment
How is it a bad mechanic? Control Mages run plenty of medium to high cost spells that are likely to get pulled (Tome, Meteor, Blizzard, Flamestrike, Pyro). Elekk also sees play & this is basically that. All it lakes is one more stat of health.
yeah so your opponent can play around that flamestrike, pyroblast, blizzard you just drew
Joust and Discard, both an absolute fail of game mechanics, and a testament to a bad game design, but regardless stubbornly pushed by the devs.
Such a fail that hunters everywhere use King's Elekk.
Elekk is used because it's a decent card draw. This doesn't mean that the mechanic of joust is fun or interesting in any way.
