Very happy this card got released wayyyyy before it was supposed to.
This card joust isn't good enough.
You get it, right? Joust.
OK, nevermind.
why not, usually mage spells cost more than spells other classes (except ulul)
only 50% of the time... priest, warlock, druid and Paladin have some expensive spells...
prist: holynova 5, dragonfire 6
warlock: fellfire 6, soul 6, twisted 8
druid: nourish 5, spr 6, lul 10
paladin: lul 6, hands 8
mage: tome 5, meteor 6, bliz 6, skill 7, portal 7, pyro 10
mage have more playable spell(cost 5+), in my opinion
You forgot Free From Amber 8 and Shadow Essence 6... Big Priests often have those...
Also Paladins might just start running Dinosize again, it was used in some combo decks before...
And pyro is like the only one that has high chance of winning (not 100% because lul druid), 7-costs will frequently lose to 8 costs...
Mage Spells that are commonly seen:
Mage decks commonly have;
Average Spell cost:
Result: Average mana cost : 3.75~
Cards such as Frostbolt andPrimordial Glyph that are practically auto-include due to their power level cause this card's effectiveness to diminish since they greatly diminish the spell cost average of your deck.
However this card might be run similarly to King's Elekk where if you win the joust it can immediately get powerful cards into your hand.
this is true, but i calc average for my combo priest 2.44
50% lower, i think if calc average for other popular decks, it will be lower than 3.75
it is only my opinion, haven't enouth time to calc all decks =)
Wow another strong 2-mana mage card!
First mage beast ever! Something new! PogChamp
Why are we seeing joust cards again? They are the worst! Might as well just be understated vanilla minions.
I am a collector and since I started during TGT, I don't disenchant anything other than extra copies.... And the skeleton knight. Please no more.
why bring back this mechanic when it's already been disliked by majority of the community?!..Blizz...are you really running out of idea already?
Old mechanics can be improved upon. While this card doesn't show this you could change the consistently of joust by creating cards that have an above higher than average mana cost while in the deck, then when drawn revert to the typical mana cost appropriate for the balance of the card while in your hand. I saw this in somebody's fan made cards & it seems like a very solid idea.
I feel most mechanics should be revisited in order to improve them and make the game better. Even look at charge. The variant of charge like what Charged Devilsaur has, in that it has charge but can't go face to add to the plague of smorc decks, improved the mechanic to fit more with what I feel most players want to see in that mechanic nowadays.
Why a beast?
Because Blizzard hasn't developed the "Bird/Raven/Buzzard" archetype yet
This is slowly but surely becoming TGT 2.0. Main problem with these cards were that a tie also counts as a loss.
Seems just ok. Since there's no guarantee to draw the spell, I don't think this sees play in constructed.
Why does King's Elekk see play in hunter then, especially when it runs low cost cards like Ally Cat, Crackling Razormaw, & Bearshark?
Because it's a 3/2 for the same cost and trades better.
I'm slowly thinking this is the first expac I dont preorder, and it's really disappointing. I love this game, but I'm getting the feeling that The Frozen Throne expac was the equivalent of WoW's Wrath of the Lich King... I really hope they can get some better ideas on this. The fan created stuff on this site is amazingly creative, and fun.
Business wise it makes sense, a December release to capture Christmas gifts of people asking for $50 to get the expac, and maybe you arent concerned so much on it being strong content wise because you are banking on the seasonal boost.
However... we've not seen all the cards, and I'm hoping for some big big big surprises.
