Kobolds Expansion Releasing December 7
Say what? Thanks to a small line noted on a recent Hearthstone Blog post, we're ready to make a bold release prediction. Kobolds and Catacombs will release on December 7.
Quote from Blizzard
From December 10 to 11 (December 9 to 10 PST)
All new expansion cards will be allowed
What is This? I Don't Even.
Allow me to explain.
When tournaments have allowed new cards in the past, it's always meant the expansion has already been out prior to the event's beginning. It should also be noted that in the history of Hearthstone, all December expansions so far have released in early December.
- Goblins vs Gnomes released December 8, 2014
- Mean Streets of Gadgetzan released December 1, 2016
With card reveals starting up again on November 20, we're certainly in for a quick reveal phase. Looking back on history for this year only, Un'Goro and Frozen Throne had 14 day card reveal periods.
- Un'Goro began on March 17 with a reveal stream and ended on March 31 with the final reveal stream.
- Frozen Throne began on July 24 with Ticking Abomination and ended on August 7 with the final reveal stream.
If history is going to repeat itself, and it will, we're in for another two week long event. With set releases historically taking place on a Thursday, you can mark the following dates on your calendar.
- Monday, December 4 - Kobolds and Catacombs Final Card Reveal
- Thursday, December 7 - Kobolds and Catacombs Release
Here's to another great card reveal season! Stay tuned for all of our coverage beginning in just 12 days on November 20. Dates on this post are assuming the Americas region. They'll likely differ in other parts of the world, so don't shoot the messenger!

These are not the memes you are looking for.
Many candles were lit this day!
And they were all taken. ;)
Wait, that means that the reveal period is going to be only 16 days long (Nov 20-Dec 6)...which means that at least 7 new cards are going to be revealed per day (on average)?!
I guess it could indeed mean a steady 7 cards revealed per day, but nothing guaranties us that - ceteris paribus sic stantibus - it will be a clock-steady even ratio card/day .. I'm still expecting a leak *winks*
I should've probably emphasized the words "on average" more. XD
Yes on average you are correct. Just like all the other times as the article mentions. Nothing new to see here.
it would make sense, they can mix some normal card reveals with the epics and legenderies
Good work cata-combing through the evidence.
A Kobold prediction, if i do say so myself.
take your upvote and get out
I will confess that this took me way too long to get kms.
Good detective work HearthPwn!
