Panel Recap
Quote from Hearthpwn
- Ben Thompson, Dave Kosak, and Peter Whalen are on stage.
- They're showing off the cinematic again.
- Everyone in the audience has 3D glasses.
- They wanted to do something more classic Warcraft this time around.
- "What if we do the treasure set". They were on board.
- Blingtron's Lootapalooza was the original goal of the set. Over time they didn't like that as much.
- What does the mind of the Kobold look like? You're probably single minded, direct in your thought.
- The Kobolds are building tunnels and treasure rooms!
- The new game board is themed for the kobolds. Treasure, Magical Items, and Candles.
- Lots of new clickables on the board - don't touch the candles!
- The Kobolds have been digging for thousands of years.
- It was important to keep classes distinct which made it hard to design weapons for the casters.
- Caster weapons have 0 attack. Early on they even had 0 defense.
- Some of the Artifact weapons from World of Warcraft may be making their way into Hearthstone.
- Unidentified Elixir from priests will get a random effect when drawn.
- There are three unidentified items in the game. An Elixir, a Shield, and a Weapon.
- Spellstones are cards which get upgraded as conditions are met.
- They spent a lot of time figuring out what kind of creatures Kobolds would run into.
- "Sorry mini-tauren, your day will come"
- No adventure this time around, dungeon run replaces adventure for this set.
- Battlecrys play twice against Battlecrier Jinzo
- Waxmancer Stermy can create wax minions that mimic your minions or hers. They're 1/1 clones.
- Room of Traps is a rare encounter that doesn't show up as often - it's one of the hardest encounters available.
- Two passive upgrades are given to you throughout your run to give you more power.
- Two treasures are given to you throught your run as well. They're super powerful.
- Every boss you beat has 3 piles of loot, each has 3 cards in it. You can take one pile per boss to add to your dungeon deck.
- There are 40 treasures available in total.
- There are 1.4 kobillion, or, "a lot" of combinations of runs available.

Rin is bad. It's super slow. In order to complete the entire thing you need 41 mana.
Sooo, a 6-drop 3/6 Taunt spawns a five-cost "Jade Idol for Warlock" worth a cumulative 36 Mana(!), also sets up a fat Kara Kazham!-like Defile target when you resummon them with Bloodreaver Gul'dan Oh, and only one "nth Seal" card in your hand at a time, over six turns? Compared that to Uther's four horseman hero power over four turns costing cumulatively 8 Mana or effing Quest Mage's infinite fireball Time Warp turn. Ain't gonna happen, Warlock...and then Mill Rogue will burn the rest of your deck.
Better 5-drop options:
Despicable Dreadlord
Bane of Doom
Faceless Manipulator (which Bloodreaver will resummon, if a demon)
Coin + Siphon Soul, while Medivh's weapon is still durable
Ok, Blizz, what else ya got?
if you have medivh's weapon, no need for coin :)
You're missing the point of the suggested 5-drops, which is: "Play a card, add value, spawn a valuable minion for free". It's not assuming you've played Medivh on Turn 4.
The first thru fourth Nth Seals are incredibly under-powered as five drops. Why couldn't the Nth Seals summon start as a 5/5, 6/6, and so on? Then, playing a 10/10 that discards the opponents deck wouldn't seem so far fetched and may even be worth playing out the progression six more turns. Even if you Bloodbloom + Violet Illusionist, doesn't change the fact that your first Seal summon is a 1/1, making you vulnerable to Defile each turn it stays on the board. A smart opponent would leave your 1/1 there as a Defile token that protects their own minions. If you start First Seal as a 5/5 Taunt, you're no longer an easy Defile target...Then, when you play Bloodreaver, assuming your opponent isn't already in fatigue, Warlock's board doesn't seem like it's ready to unzip. Bad enough that a single Flamestrike pretty much wipes out BG's whole resummon.
Even so, if they ramped the Nth Seals in +2/+2 increments from 2/2, 4/4, 6/6, 8/8 etc. it would be better than how they've designed it.
Acidic Swamp Ooze just became a must include.
Rin, the first disciple, yes yes feed me those BIG memes Kreygasm
Did they use to release more per class?
dont worry, the most probable is that the new legendaries will be trash, to play meta now you only need few legendaries
So, what is the motivation to play that Dungeon thing? Just a card back?
Fun
Exactly.
For fun maybe? You know, games exist because we should enjoy them, regardless of any reward
Oh look, a game mode where u can play a lot of different decks in a lot of different scenarios, must be shit because it only gives us a card back. Have u ever heard of having fun in a video game and not just netdecking while playing against the same decks on ladder every month? crazy right?
There has to be some kind of reward besides a card back (packs, for instance). In Knights they managed to give away a legendary (I know they gave away one here as well) and several packs. This new mode has a lot replay potential but with no real rewards...
ladder system is a joke now. What's the point of getting legend again and again??
At least in Tavern Brawls you can complete Daily quests. I do not think you are able to do so in single player modes so...
