The Headless Horseman Rides is This Week's Brawl!
It's time to battle the Headless Horseman! We'll arm you with the finest Hallow's End costumes Azeroth has to offer.
Trivia
- This is a brand new brawl.
- The brawl is a part of the Hallow's End Hearthstone Event for 2017.
- This is a PvE brawl, no player opponent this time! Your opponent is the Headless Horseman.
- Passive hero powers are in use for the player, a rarity!
- You earn your card pack even if you lose!
Choose Your Costume
You get to choose a costume to wear on your first turn. This gets rid of your Stormwind Champions and draws you a new hand.
- Witch Costume - Your hero power is Witchcraft. Your deck is based on spell synergies.
- Pirate Costume - Your hero power is Conscript. Your deck is based on pirate synergies.
- Cat Costume - Your hero power is Sense Weakness. Your deck is based on beasts and kitty things like Claw.
Each deck is predetermined.

The Fight
- The Headless Horseman starts off with 30 Health. His hero power, Slash, deals random damage to your side of the field.
- Many of the cards in the Headless Horseman's deck are able to deal AoE damage to you - gross!
- After defeating the Headless Horseman, he removes his head (Headless Horseman's Head), a 2/35 minion.
- His head deals 2 damage randomly split to your side of the field at the start of each of his turns.
- Destroying the head, as indicated on the card text, wins you the game.

Discuss This Week's Brawl
Head on over to our dedicated discussion thread over on our Tavern Brawl forum.
that just does not work, cause the head is considered as a Boss and the HP does not trigger with bosses ;)
Yeah it does (unless Blizzard changed it within the past day). I even showed the video for proof.
If you want to go directly to the time right before Stampeding Kodo destroys the head:

Got Alextraza in the pack, thanks bliss.
Lost my first game (as Cat) horribly, so bad that I was sure I had misunderstood some mechanic. Turned out it's just that my hand was horrible; easily won the next three games, one of each costume. Having the option to mulligan would have been nice to help avoid this feels-bad experience. Otherwise, I think this brawl is awesome. (Except that it's maybe a little too easy to be very replayable.)
Right ! ?
I was expecting a secret loot or something for beating the horsemen with all three costumes, But nothing :(
There is no kodo in any of the decks tho? wtf are you on about?
well, there is a chance to get Stampeding Kodo from Infest. I had that luck and phase 2 became "kind of" easy :-)
that just does not work, cause the head is considered as a Boss and the HP does not trigger with bosses ;)
well, you are wrong, since i simply did, what i wrote
Anyone that says -insert costume here- deck sucks you either don't know how to remove his minions properly or have the worst RNG ever. I have won with each deck, only on second try for each.
I had spirit lash in the Witch deck, as well as vulcanic potion
After 5 tries I finally beat the Headless Horseman. Look like I only had terrible first hands. it is a realy good Brawl.
Funny tavern this week, easy with pirates, careful to not play all cards in first turns
got King Mosh from infest while playing Cat for the first time, it works on the Head of the Headless Horseman
easy first time win for Cat
This end... have I reached before. What new adventure lies in store?
The brawl itself was slightly underwhelming. I don't understand the point of making it easy enough for everyone to beat it if you get a pack for losing as well.
My main gripe is that you cannot mulligan after choosing a costume. That made fast-paced decks, especially Pirate, weaker because you automatically lose if you get a weak starting hand. Its made even worse by how unoptimized the decks are (with garbage filler cards).
The brawl aside, I really liked the Passive Hero Powers, especially Witch Costume's Witchcraft. It adds decision making to the game, and can actually be a drawback in certain situations (eg. Sap for 4 mana). I hope this is an experiment by Blizzard, and actually becomes a real effect in a future expansion.
Just played one for each class. Pirate deck is very bad, not even got to the head phase. Witch instead is super strong: as long as you play your spells for double mana, you get so much value. Things like double molten reflection, or even double wild growth into 4x coin at 10 mana are insane. Cat is decent, but I was so lucky to get the single Tundra Rhyno, and that with you hero power spawning cats on nonlethal damage is madness! You attack with a beast, you get a cat with charge which attacks, dies, and gives you another cat with charge.. old patron warrior would be jealous! You can easily OTK any minion on the board, head included, as long as the horseman doesn't kill your Rhyno.
Same here. I've only played one game admittedly, but I chose Pirate and it was an absolute landslide. I think it's worth remembering that all your minions are counted as Pirates thanks to the passive hero power, so the synergy is easy to take advantage of.
I got the dream of using Thistle Tea and getting Ship's Cannon. It was amazing!
