Amsterdam Announcement
Quote from BlizzardThe Hearthstone® Championship Tour (HCT) will come to a star-studded conclusion in Amsterdam as HCT 2017 finishes its journey in the Beurs van Berlage Conference Centre.
This monumental venue once housed the Dutch stock exchange, and has witnessed royal marriages. Now, one of the Netherlands’ most famous buildings will host the HCT World Championship.
What
Beurs van Berlage
Damrak 243
1012ZJ Amsterdam
NetherlandsAt the HCT World Championship, attendees will be able to meet, greet, and challenge their favorite Hearthstone personalities in friendly matches. There will also be on-site tournaments—open to all ticket-holders—that will award special swag. Attendees can expect to mingle with players from all around the world, as the Hearthstone community unites to send off the Hearthstone Championship Tour in style.
All attendees who purchase a ticket and check-in on site will receive the Thrill of Victory card back, which will be awarded to registered Blizzard Battle.net accounts once the HCT World Championship concludes.
When
Mark your calendars for Thursday, Jan. 18 through Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018. The atmosphere will be electric, and the competition will be fierce as a full year of competitive Hearthstone comes down to just four days of play among the 16 qualified players.
Players
Eight players have already qualified through the HCT Winter Championship and the HCT Spring Championship. The remaining eight berths will be awarded to the semifinalists from the HCT Summer Championship, and to the four players who are the highest point earners from each Hearthstone competitive region that are not already qualified for the World Championship (the Last Call slots).
Qualification and Format
The HCT World Championship will start with a group stage before progressing into a playoff bracket. Player seeding will be determined by placement in the four HCT World Championship qualifying events: The Winter Championship, Spring Championship, Summer Championship, and Last Call.
Matches will be played in the following format:
- Each match will be best-of-seven in Conquest format with one ban. Players will bring five decks, ban one of their opponent’s decks, then compete with the remaining four decks.
- The group stage will be a dual tournament, with two competitors advancing from each group to the playoff bracket.
- The playoffs will be single elimination.
Prize Pool
The total prize pool for this event is $1,000,000 USD, distributed as follows:

It was the correct play .
Have you seen Orange's hand ? Primalfin would have been trash against double portal anyway . He needed something better .
The only thing I would have done differently (knowing opponent hand) would have been to wait until turn 4 to cast devolve portal instead of coining it out , although it probably wouldn't have mattered but it would have been a better swing and saved the coin .
He couldn't have mulliganed based off Orange's hand because for the obvious reason he couldn't see it. Orange had a pretty bad start and draw just like Pavel. I wanted Pavel to win just as bad as anyone else who voted for him. I just think he plays very risky and hopes that draw RNG will save him. In this series it didn't. He's still a world champion and you have to give him credit for that. Sometimes luck isn't on your side.
not bad
When will we get our packs??? My champion, SURRENDER ;)
Amsterdam Nice. Will see if I can get a ticket!
purple is such a bae though
It seems that noone wins these seasonal tournaments two times, so that's not a bad strategy. Sorry for your packs..
eziest packs of my life. Thanks Surrender!
At this point people should've learned the lesson already. If a player gets massively voted he just loses right away... except if he's Kolento, because you know, Kolento.
Randomly picked orange and got away with it. Nice.
Thanks to everyone who's been following our survival guides for the year so far. Tell me, is there anything else you'd like to see from us from tournament posts? I've setup a google form for easy feedback, though you can also respond to my comment here. Thanks!
