Each player on each Oktoberbrawl team will receive a fresh account, 10 Classic packs, and a Welcome Bundle. During the Oktoberbrawl period, on Monday of each week, each player will receive 10 packs each from two different expansions. Then on Wednesday of each week, each team member will receive a portion of a second pack award based on a percentage of total wins earned in Ranked Play by players using their team’s card back. Play for each week will culminate in a grudge match on the official Hearthstone twitch channel.
Oktoberbrawl accounts may only be played while streaming on Twitch. Oktoberbrawl team members may earn gold through quests and playing constructed games, and spend it to purchase Classic packs, but may not purchase packs in any other way. A free Arena ticket can be used, but Arena runs cannot be purchased otherwise. Players may not disenchant cards, and may only complete the 80g “play a friend” quest with one of their teammates.
Remember, every pack you earn for your team counts!
So what are you waiting for? Oktoberbrawl is waiting! Link your account and leap into the fray!
If you think one bland and purposely vague press release justifies your breathless complaint about "all the hype about prime since april," then I can't imagine that anything they do could ever satisfy you. How does that qualify as "hype" at all?
Wow
So agressive lol
I'm satisfied by a lot of things with Hearthstone, so I don't know how you can talk about it just because I criticised one thing.
but we can stop here. Thank you for your reply. Bye.
Please highlight the "aggressive" words that hurt your fee-fees.
Wait, am I missing something? We get two card backs, which are both admittedly cool, but using those backs will give some streamers free packs on their f2p accounts? But we don't get any packs? How is this an event? Why should I care enough to use these card backs at all?
1. Does anyone realize that this an OPTIONAL event for anyone WILLING to participate in it
2. The reward is two card backs, it's great that we even get anything and this is a step in the right direction for blizzard to be introducing new events like the fire and frost festivals into hearthstone and not just expansions
3. It will create some more different and fun competition in hearthstone featuring popular streamers besides what we are used to
4. Blizzard has no control over what countries have access to a twitch/amazon product
If it's not for you, just don't get prime and appreciate the fact that blizzard is trying to do something new and innovative to the game so many people complains is stale. I in fact do not have twitch prime so I will not be doing this, but I think this event is a good thing for the game to give more incentive (in the form of giving their team a boost in the competition) to play besides reaching legend or obtaining a golden hero portrait, if you already have or are willing to purchase prime. And if you don't participate, you can still watch the weekly games and enjoy those. Overall I'm happy blizzard is willing to expand the hearthstone IP by doing more than just creating expansions, and I hope they do more things like these in the future.
How is it a step in the right direction? You get cardbacks not from playing the game but from a website no1 cares about
The problem with the rewards for this, compared to Blizzards other products, is that card backs do not inherently change the game. Same goes for the Tyrande hero portrait. In Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm, you were actually rewarded with things that gave you something more worth while than what Hearthstone gets you. So now, I'm going to pick-apart your numerical notes...
1) Irrelevant. All events are optional.
2) You're comparing card backs with double gold week and free arena play... Card backs do not further your knowledge or skill in the game. They're just pictures. Double gold and free arena plays do increase your knowledge and skill by giving you easier access to card packs, and free play in arena.
3) The competition is only with the streamers, and not the players. I really do think this isn't going to increase players competition... It'll just be enjoyable to watch, that's all...
4) That is probably the most sense you've made. Though, if players are smart enough, they can easily circumvent the country/region restrictions by using private vpns... Though, just for card backs, not worth it.
Honestly, the fire and frost festivals were great ideas, and was very successful. For something like this, the only take-away is watching those streamers compete. Just a viewing experience, the card backs are just flavor. I hope they go back to the drawing board, and include more rewards that actually get you something that is worth-while. Maybe they should of done the "Choose a Champion" version on this, so players could either get 1 pack for the losing team, or 3 packs for the winning team. That's worth-while.
Thank you for the reply! I was just really upset to see most people's reactions to something that many people (including me) have been wanting for quite a while, which are more events in the game (I've been playing since a month before the release of Naxx).
I can understand most of your points besides the one where you say that it would be better if Blizzard rewarded players with rewards that inherently change the game. I'm assuming this means like giving a player a free legendary however that would create many problems. First of all most people would probably start accusing Blizzard of making the game pay-to-win by making players pay for a game-changing legendary (a non-aesthetic change) and I would agree with them that this is unfair. Other games do provide players with game-changing content that can give players who pay an advantage and that can feel extremely unfair.
Also I can agree that for the vast majority of players, this event does not provide much content outside of card backs, but I feel that having both events that reward players in larger or smaller ways is ok. The fact that multiple and different feeling events are being made is very good for the game.
About my first point, I just meant that for people complaining that this event is a detriment to the game overall, and not as an excuse for allowing blizzard to make poor optional content, which I believe this is not an example of.
About my third point I agree that the true competition is only for the few streamers involved, but there is some level of involvement a player will feel when winning games with their chosen card back to help the team they support. This adds on to what you play constructed hearthstone for which is typically golden hero portraits or the legend rank.
Finally I also really like your idea of the Choose-your-champion addition to the event, and I feel like I would be an interesting extra reward for the otherwise smaller event for the player, but I guess Blizzard is opting to make it a smaller event.
I assume it isn't possible to collect both card backs?
You get both cardbacks - whenever you win a match with one of those cardbacks equipped, the team with that cardback gains something. But you keep them both. So these are basically used to vote which team is your favourite.
Call of the Void cardback rocks.
Salt vs. Pepper xD
And again fucking the countries that can't purchase Twitch Prime..Thanks Blizzard.
Yeah, not getting a couple of .jpgs is really "getting fucked." You don't sound at all like a hysterical baby.
You should fix your own issues before posting on others comments.
Wow, what a bracing retort...
Those cardbacks are quite ugly, sorry.
Which is quite a record because we've been receiving very good cardbacks for a while.
