I am a Rogue fanatic, and I think it's so sad what Rogue Cards Blizzard prints compared for example to the Druid cards. I bet Blizzard would never give an Ultimate Infestation to Rogue because of Preparation..... And then gives it to Druid that can ramp and play Infestation in Turn 6 or 7.
If you look at the Rogue Cards from the last three sets, there is 90% garbage. The KFT Miracle Rogue deck lists are the same as the Un'Goro ones. If you look, which cards are played in Miracle Rogue these days: Hallucination, Swashburglar, Razorpetal Lasher, Shaku the Collector. No other class would play such bad cards, but Rogue has to because it needs card generation and there are no better alternatives. Tomb Pillager and Azure Drake rotated out and Blizzard can't even give Rogue some new good card generation minions. I'm also still waiting for a good Rogue-only Spell Damage minion. Instead we get mediocre weapon stuff, which is cool, but useless in a class that has almost no control tools..... The Death Knight is also the worst of all nine classes - even if it has style.
Another example: Jade Cards. Let's take Jade Shuriken as an example. I have experimented a lot with Jade Rogue and it appears that Jade Shuriken is mostly good because it summons a golem, the damage doesn't do too much. So 2 Mana, summon a Jade Golem, is good. Wait.... don't Druids have a card which not only summons a Jade, but can also shuffle three more copies into your deck? For ONE Mana?!
Or Jade Swarmer. Two Mana, deal one damage NEXT TURN, summon a Jade Golem NEXT TURN, which is often super clunky and too slow for the current meta.
Also the mere AMOUNT of Jade cards. Shaman has Jade Claws, Jade Lightning and Jade Chieftain. Druid has Jade Blossom, Jade Behemoth + unlimited Jade Idols. Three cards for both. Both classes don't even need to run Jade Spirit anymore. And what did Rogue get? Right. TWO cards, Swarmer and Shuriken. And as for Jade, the paradigm is "the more, the better".... guess which classes are the best one for Jades.
If the excuse still is "Gadgetzan Auctioneer is limiting design space" - then please, go ahead and move it to the hall of fame. And give Rogue finally some standalone good cards, like Vilespine Slayer, the only good Rogue card since Tomb Pillager. Not to mention that Auctioneer obviously wasn't limiting design space for making Jade Idol cost 1 Mana.
And I hope nobody mentions the Quest. Quest Rogue was the most unfun and uninteractive deck of all time, even worse than things like Worgen Warrior, Pirate Warrior and Jade Druid.
this is a more interesting article than most of the stuff on this website, excelent summary. The thing i dislike about playing rogue is mostly the lack of good aoe and sustainability against all these aggro decks. if aggro metas continue they have to do something about that
Greatly written! Couldn't agree more. It's a shame, cuz rogue is such a cool and complex class.
No Rogue or Hunter. LUL
Is this chinese system fair? I always see the same people going to the championships.
JasonZhou, Omegazero, Trunks and Hamster have been there so many times.
Renolock without Reno FeelsBadMan
Has anyone gotten there packs from the last major tournament where Czech won? I voted for Ukraine but I still haven't gotten my pack for it? I'm on NA if that helps.
Well it is usually Krul + DK warlock really... so it is kinda highlander demonlock... DK is really good health gain so you don't need Reno anymore...
I got mine the day of the new season. Voted for Ukraine as well. Got one pack.
same vote for krolento an only get 1... report to anyone?
Right, it's still a viable deck. I was just pointing out that's it's still listed as Renolock under Archetype breakdown.
Rogue needs a proactive game plan like it had with Quest Rogue in order to be a force in the meta game again. Poor Shaman is stuck as an aggro class until their Control builds get the draw power they need to not have to depend on a rigid gameplan and Mana Tide Totem. Basically, their problems are almost the opposite of the other class.
Finally Priest is back on the Touranment show, for too long it has been outside of it.
After the group stage that lead to this top 8, players were able to re-submit decklists. Notable changes:
In addition to these, all players adjusted their tech choices. For example Jiajia teched Hungry Crab to all his decks. Apparently it paid off, he made it to top 4 earlier today.
No rogue? Time for the class receive shaman/druid treatment...
This is sad, rogue is usually loved in Chinese tournaments, at least we can play jade druid for a 18th patch
I feel like Rogue has become a high roll deck. Too reliant on good draws, since it has to fill the deck with semi-shitty cards.
Wow no popular commons?
