Blue Posts - Spell Targeting, Adrenaline Rush Removed, Currency Systems

Another week down means we're a week closer to the beta. We're closing out this week with another batch of blue posts from Zeriyah. Have a great weekend, and don't forget to swing by the forums to discuss all the news! Also, be sure to check out BubbleHearth's cockatrice tournament this Saturday at 5pm EST.

Can Spells Be Played Without Targets?

Originally posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

If there is a spell that requires you to specifically target a minion, like Corruption, you will be unable to play the card if there's not a target for that spell.

If there's not a specific target for the spell (example: Deal 2 damage), you can target pretty much anything with it, including your friendly minions or your hero, but there still has to be a target.

Adrenaline Rush Removed

Adrenaline Rush was removed. It was replaced with Shiv.

Currency Systems

1) It is stated that gold is used to buy card packs. If someone wants to use real money to buy a pack, do they actually but the gold first and then use that to buy the pack
2) It is stated that gold is used to buy into the forge, does that mean there is no longer a card pack requirement for the forge?
3) Is the crafting/arcane dust system still going to be implemented?
4) When is beta :P

1.) Gold and real money are separate. You can't use real money to buy gold. You can use real money or gold to buy packs.
2.) I don't have an answer for you regarding question 2 at this time, but I will look into it.
3.) You can still disenchant expert cards in your collection to get arcane dust.
4.) Summer!

Knife Juggler Clarifications

Originally posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

I've heard about 10 iterations of what the "rules" say on Knife Juggler. Do summoned minions trigger his ability? I.E. Illidan's flames, Force of Nature, or Imp Master... anything that says "summon a minion." For that matter, what about Searing Totem?
Some of the wording on cards is being changed to be more clear regarding the difference between "playing a minion" (which means played from your hand), and "summoning a minion" (which takes into account anything card that says, "summon a minion" including minions played from the hand).

Knife Juggler falls into the latter and reads, "After you summon a minion, deal 1 damage to a random enemy." Totems count as minions, so they would also count for this ability.

Traps before Battlecry?

Originally posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Zeriyah, I believe this is quite a common question, please could you take a look if there's time:
Q: If Lord Jaraxxus is played and the opposing player has a Vaporize, will Lord Jaraxxus still replace the hero?
Q: In general, do traps such as Vaporize/Snipe trigger before Battlecries? Would Elven Archer still fire its arrow if it's hit by Vaporize?

Vaporize was changed to: Vaporize now triggers when an enemy minion attacks your hero. This was featured in our latest blog.

With Battlecry and Snipe - the minion will enter the board, perform their Battlecry, then take four damage to the face.
