What if Skulking Geist battlecry gets affected by Radiant Elemental if it's in play, does Divine Spirit becomes the target?
Same applies to Primordial Glyph and Sorcerer's Apprentice
If you play Wild, include Ice Lance for Mage. This will also hurt OTK Freeze mages in a significant way.
What about a deck around:
Skulking Geist
Dead Man's Hand
Bring It On!
and lots of 1 costs. Put in Brawl to control and you will never run out of cards and continue to build too much armor for your opponent to take you down...
Fair, so I took out the pirates and threw in the 1 mana spells available to warrior.
Modified Deck.
I like the idea... you should consider Arcane Giant on it
I don't think you looked at the decklist. He found 6 one cost warrior spells, which means 12 cards in your deck. This might must work. I would include execute or sleep with the fishes to make whirlwind useful instead of doomsayer though.
Damn, if at least they kept the spells in hand...
Than this card would be meaningless
This card hurts Lyra the Sunshard decks so bad. Imagine you have 2 1-mana spells in your hand that you are waiting to recycle it with Lyra. When your opponent plays this you lose 2 cards FROM YOUR HAND and basically lose the game. Such an amazing legendary didn't deserve this, just to kill an archtype that is going to rotate out very soon. Since Inner Fire also costs 1 mana, priests are hurt as much as jade druid. Shame, instead of nerfing a card, Blizz killed lots of archetypes. The irony is almost every priest will run this card.
Against control that's right. But i think they intended it. Lyra is just too god.
wow
THIS IS A BUFF FOR GALVADON!!!!! Shit mate, you counter Jade Druid and Evolve Shaman and also get to fix your curve, just you wait for the paladin hero... Galvadon meta for shore.
The arguments that Skulking Geist significantly suppresses certain deck types make a lot of sense, and people should be concerned about this - just not overly concerned.
For starters, you'd never run more than one of these - the battlecry is redundant the second time you play it, and the stats are bad for a 6 drop. As such, the odds that you draw the one you teched in by the time turn 6 rolls around is only ~33%, and those odds are still below 50% when you reach turn 10. Running it as a one-of tech card won't guarantee you have time to shut down powerful 1 drop spells - it just guarantees you can cut the power of 1 drop cards which have outsized power levels in the late game (i.e. Jade Idol)
Also, you have to be willing to destroy your own 1 drop spells. This may not be a big deal in every deck, but there are plenty of control decks which will be nervous about the timing of this card. What happens if you're playing a control warrior and destroy a Whirlwind to counter infinite jades only to find that now you need it to combo with Sleep with the Fishes? What if hesitating means you get the Whirlwind but end up giving Jade Druid enough time to build up a wall of powerful jades which can easily shrug off your 4 damage AOE?
Skulking Geist has a very powerful battlecry, but it's real value isn't strictly about showing up decks. The threat of being teched into submission will make players wary of flooding the meta with Jade Druid. When people do play Jade Druid, they'll want to have alternative win conditions, or ways to protect themselves if and when their deck of Jade Idols turns into fatigue damage. My hope is that this card needs to see very little play because its existence will change the way people think about the risks and rewards of playing cards like Jade Idol
Though if you play a control warrior you'll probably just run the new weapon instead of Whirlwind. Probably the only 1 mana spell that you will use is Shield Slam. And most of the time you should be fine with losing just 2 cards from your deck which are not part of any combo. So looks like warriors won't have any problem with using [card]Skulking Geist[/card].
Haha, well, it was a somewhat arbitrary example. My point is, there are plenty of decks which may find themselves making hard choices when it comes to timing the playing of this card.
I think that you are rigth
