you mean servant of kill your own minions?
I guess Trump will give this card 5 stars out of 5, right? No? OK...
Everyone is talking about the card but can we just appreciate how this is probably the best card reveal so far? The editing, awkward jokes and "educational" commentary are all top notch. Can we just get Trump and his editor to reveal the rest of the cards!?
What about J4CKIE's rap for meat wagon though.
I completely agree that the draw is the main, well, draw, but I think you're underrating the other effects. It's also a massive board swing and a nice bit of breathing room. It's a perfect ramp card - refilling your hand for later turns while fighting the board. Playing Control, I've had a lot of situations where I've had to choose between fighting the board, pushing damage, healing up or refilling my hand. This stops you having to choose. It seems good to me.
Reminds me of the ultimatum cards in MTG. Something like Cruel Ultimatum kinda. Draws, destroy, gains life, summon minion. I really like this card as a 1 of in a midrange/control shell.
I feel like this card would be run in wild with that one ramp deck that has the 4 cost card that discards an entire hand for 10 mana crystals and that is about it. Feels too slow in everything else other than that one meme deck tbh.
Warlock epic card:
10 cost spell: Deal 5 damage to self. Discard 5 cards. Destroy 5 of your mana crystals. Summon a 5/5 Unlicensed Apothecary
Looks like a direct buff of Mana Bind and Counterspell.
WTF! it's worth 17 mana. all in one card. really interesting.
And you can have 2 in your deck...
Now that's some value!
This is a damn nice card, especially for jade druid. Great in combination with Kun. If you can get Fandral to survive and drop kun that's 15 armor, a 7/7, a 5/5, 5 damage, and 5 cards draw in 1 turn, that's insane
That actually has ALOT of people very concerned...
You need to assemble 3 cards, two of which are legendaries, get a high value target to survive, and then it's still only a net of 2 cards in hand. It'll look good on highlight videos and Trolden, but it's not easy to do.
Yeah, I can see how this card is valuable. Like deal 5 damage and summon a 5/5 = a more solid Firelands Portal. So let's say it's worth 8 mana instead of 7 for the consistency of always getting a 5/5 instead of sometimes a 2/2 that deals 5 damage to your face. Not just that, but draw 5 cards = 8.5 mana-ish following the pattern of other card draw mechanics. On top of that just an extra slice of Iron Hide, cause why not?
Value? HELL YEAH.
Playable? Depends on the meta. If it slows down though, as Blizzard is trying so hard to do, this card will be a beast!!!
I mainly play mage and only got the Bomb Squad once. There are a few bad minions you can get out of a Firelands Portal, but generally you're still dealing 5 damage (which is basically a Bomb Squad for 2 more mana on the worst case) and getting an average 4/5 body or better, so I'd say Firelands Portal's summon effect is better than this one. That said, if you compare their full potential values, the difference is just too great.
It's amazing how many people can't get the value of this card correct.
Iron Hide = 1 Mana
Firelands Portal = 7 Mana (Guarantees 5/5 outcome)
Taking the Formula from other draw card effects getting 5 is 8 Mana.
= 16 Mana
You basically had it right without the 3-4/4-5 business.
I think you're a bit off, too.
Iron Hide -> 5 armor = 1 mana. That I can accept (even though it's open to discussion because of Shield Block).
Firelands Portal does anything but guarantee that outcome, though. It has roughly 64% chance of coming with less than 10 stat points, which by default is less than a 5/5. The 10 stat points cards compose 20% of the possibilities. This means that your minion more often than not comes under-stat-ed. Now to the math:
Judging by the (quite) mana-efficient Fireball, which costs 4 mana and deals 6 damage, 5 damage costs around 3.32 mana.
This means that in reality you spend 3.68 mana for the minion, which is still very cost-efficient, mind you. But this is for Firelands Portal, a 5/5 in reality would be a bit on the powerful side for 4 mana, and plain 5-cost minions (Pit Fighter, I mean) would be 5/6, so let's settle with a 5/5 being 4.5 mana.
It's hard to measure card draw value because every class has its own value (and druid card draw is rather costly, Gadgetzan Auctioneer aside), but let's make do with mages' average cost of 1.5 mana for each card.
So, in the end, we get 1 + 3.32 + 4.5 + (1.5 * 5) = 16.32 mana, roughly, but since it's all packed in one card, you can assume it's more than that.
