The Rogue Death Knight has been revealed by Savjz!
Discuss this Card Discuss this Card Discuss this Card
- You can never have more than one Shadow Reflection in your hand.
- Shadow Reflection leaves your hand at the end of your turn, so it only works on 5 mana cards or less. (Source)
- Effects that invoke Mana Cost reduction will not be copied by Shadow Reflection. (Like Emperor Thaurissan ticks, Preparation, Shadowstep.)
- Remember how Stealth works! If you wish to attack, do attack BEFORE using this Hero card.

Nvm, it only works on 5 mana cards or less. RIP dream
It only works on cards that can be played with 10 mana in sequence while at flat cost on the primary card it could only go up to 5 mana however if that card has its cost reduced the turn prior the second card would not get the cost reduction it would however get the copy effect so if you played a card at reduced cost and its reduced cost was low enough to allow you to play the second card you could play any card with a combined cost of 10 or less in sequence with the copy the original post should be updated to note this.
This basically is because you only have 10 mana so if you play a 5 mana spell you have 5 mana left for the turn cause the reflection leaves at the end of the turn. There is no way to do this with spells in standard. Because coin / Prep would trigger the shadow reflection. However with minions thats a different story as you can Shadow Step or Shadowcaster in advance to using shadow reflection and the effect would stick for the following turn when you got a new reflection. In the case of Shadowcaster this effect would also remove the changes made to the card from it being a Shadowcaster clone card. Which means you could basically do this to any minion with a cost of 9 or less.
Thanks for the explanation, did not realized this information.
More reason to play Vanish i guess? It's the closest rogue have to a board clear.
poisoned pyromancer with shadowstep on the poison giver guy, eh? No? K I'll see my self out.
Maybe it's because I'm not a Rogue player, but this seems a little weak to me? Can any Rogue mains give me their opinion on it?
No, you're right on the money. Card is garbage.
This is not like some card that turns out to be awesome after all. Unless a new card in the set makes this good, it won't be.
You get stealth for a turn. Big deal, they clear your board or kill you next turn with their board. You argue it gives you an extra turn like ice block? Ice block costs 3, and can be fit into your game-play on earlier turns. Regardless, fine, let's say you gain a turn. Well you more or less lost a turn playing this card for 9 mana.
The hero power effect though! Isn't that good? Sure, if you somehow cast this and don't die, and happen to have a zero cost arcane golem in hand, yeah that's cool to have another 8/8. That's also extremely situational, and not playing cards in order to copy them later past turn 9 will often be a poor choice.
It copies the first card (right?) you cast this turn, which can mess with your combos. Maybe that's not a big deal, but it kinda messes with you copying, say, Edwin, for example.
People often forget that cards that cost 9, 10 mana are dead and could have been something useful before turns 9, 10.
Rogue needs no help vs control which is the only matchup this would even create value in. Against aggro, this even further debilitates the rogue.
Source: Minimum rank 5 each month, all golden heroes, blah blah blah, rogue is my favorite class.
saying that the card is garbage before it comes into play is unreliable info at best @aProGenji
Actually it copies not the first card (as I thought before too), but every card that you cast until you play Shadow Reflection. You can see it in the video: when Savjz plays the second Mountain Giant Shadow Reflection turns into it second time. So, if you play Southsea Deckhand and then you play Cold Blood, Shadow Reclection will turn into Cold Blood. And I think that makes that card even more interesting.
... so it only works on 5 mana cards or less. WRONG
prep, copy prep, tea, copy tea, tea again. So I get a 6 drop.
This only works on cards over 5 mana if there cost is already reduced and the reduced cost of the card is enough to allow you to play the copyied version of the card. If you say cast prep prep would copy. You only get 1 copy of the card per turn. So if you cast prep you would have a copy of prep. Because prep and coin are on your turn they cannot be used for this combo shadow step can be. Because you can shadow step in advance. Shadowcaster can also be used with this in mind. Because it can be cast prior to triggering the card. So your holding the card in hand to trigger with valeera on your next turn.
(I wouldnt recommend that with shadowcaster as ideally shadow caster itself sets up combos off valeera as the idea is that you shadow caster get the copy of what ever shadow caster again using the shadow reflection to in turn clone your shadow caster. As the most value you can get out of valeera is off shadow caster.
The combo is broken on cloning the target by killing both copys of the target however that doesnt stop the ability to clone the shadow caster as long as you always play 2 shadow casters in a turn you will always have 1 shadow caster in hand. In classic this can be further extended to infinity with bran bronzebeard much like the original combo using 2 shadow casters with bran the only difference is you do not need 2 shadow casters to do the combo now with valeera as 1 shadow caster clones itself.
This basically gives you 5 1/1's and a 4/4 every turn till you loose or win the game. Or the ability to do other stuff if you already have a different minion in play.
I dont play the copy of the prep, just copy it for the trigger ability. So, i can cast prep, tea and tea and spend 9 mana.
If you prep, then copy prep, your copy prep would cast at -3 cost. Then you lose your prep for nothing.
I dont play the second prep, i play the copy of the tea, one tea for 3 mana, the other tea for 6 mana.
Honestly I see potential for a mid range spell rogue deck with this. Pressure board early and try and control the board while pushing as much damage to face with this, maybe use a evolved kobold geomancer and spells to finish him off.
It feels like a decent alternative win condition to malygos rogue.
The problem is, everything is relative. Will this make the rogue even worse vs aggro? Yes. Does rogue need help versus more controlling strategies? No. Relatively speaking, will this be better than tempo, water, elemental, or miracle rogue? I cannot imagine such a world in which it would be.
Thats not the point. The point is:
I CAN COPY AND CAST A CARD WITH COST 6.
