Nerf Announcement
Quote from KeganbeIn an upcoming update, we will be making a balance change to the Rogue card: The Caverns Below.
The Caverns Below now reads: Quest: Play five minions with the same name. Reward: Crystal Core.
Since the release of Journey to Un'Goro, Hearthstone has enjoyed a wider variety of competitively viable classes and decks than ever before. We’ve been monitoring overall gameplay, and we’ve decided that—even though everything is varied and many decks are viable—a change to The Caverns Below is still warranted.
The Caverns Below is uniquely powerful versus several slower, control-oriented decks and played often enough that it’s pushing those decks out of play. This change should help expand the deck options available to players both now and after the release of the next expansion.

Couldn't be happier. I crafted this Day One hoping it would be a fun deck to pilot. And since it's about the least fun deck I have ever played, I was hoping and praying for a nerf to get a full refund.
Huzzah!
IMO not a good nerf. The Problem is not the deck itsself. It's not even a good deck in the meta anymore, far from being imbalanced. Changing the quest from 4 to 5 minions does make a big change, simply because most games, the rogue just barely finishes bouncing a minion 3 times. It will probably be more of a niche deck from now on. Also, I don't think the meta will change much, because crystal rogue didn't keep any decks in check.
The main problem with the quest is simply its horrible design. Its lack of interactivity cannot be fixed by changing the pure numbers of the card. It should have been designed differently.
@schammo, it kept control decks in check. This could be a month of Taunt Warrior followed shortly after by a Jade Druid flood.
Yeah but, why isn't it in the meta anymore ? Because everyone hates this deck and play pirate warrior & aggro druid to counter it. Which makes the ladder absolutly disgusting. I think without quest rogue, the ladder will be more balanced.
Jade Druid is cappable of doing that as well I would say. It's not like say, Handlock that kept old patron (at least partly) in check.
Bout time much?
Why would you craft it just to get the same amount of dust back?
Maybe he wants to play this deck before it gets nerfer? Not sure
I really think that this nerf was not needed, for the following reasons:
The only way to let this deck possible to play would be to give more cheap cards that would give back a Flame Elemental, but I'm sure this will never happen. So Thank you very much for killing an archetype, that was one of the most technical on the standard ladder...
I think you are overreacting this mate. Adding just 1 more time to summon your minion is nothing. You guys have SO MANY ways to bounce back your minions that your point of killing the archetype seems like a joke for me. 2x ferryman, 2x brewmaster, 2x mimic pod, 2x vanish and 2x shadowstep is pretty enough to deal with your quest.
I don"t agree with you, the question is not only about the bounce back cards, which are also really important after the quest is completed. It's the simple fact that it delays the completion of the quest by one turn at the minimum. This way the crystal rogue will not have any way of defending himself (by putting taunts or trading minions). This way it just kills the archetype.
Anyway, it's just a nerf on a Tier 2 deck, what will happen when the control decks will have to face an endless swarm of face druids, Pirate warriors etc..?
This nerf has a huge effect.. I know you don't think so but the card is unplayable now... similar to small time buccaneer...
I agree in most of the points.
P.S: I don't know why everybody downvoted your comment, yours is the only which tried to talk about the nerf and the meta and not just crying or bitching about Blizzard, Ben Brode or the "broken" quest.
Thank you anyway for your advice. I guess that it's just the anonimity of the internet that brings haters to downvote without giving any reason.
But thank you for the time you took to read this post, you and Legend 504 as well
Next every mage card :)
Wow, after 3 months... 100 points for team Sherlock
thanks, finally I can play miracle-rogue without facing the anoyning quest rogues there
Yes
blizzards and ben brode are pussies. meta stabilized, and now they breaking it again for sake of noob whinies...
