Nerf Announcement
Quote from KeganbeIn an upcoming update, we will be making a balance change to the Rogue card: The Caverns Below.
The Caverns Below now reads: Quest: Play five minions with the same name. Reward: Crystal Core.
Since the release of Journey to Un'Goro, Hearthstone has enjoyed a wider variety of competitively viable classes and decks than ever before. We’ve been monitoring overall gameplay, and we’ve decided that—even though everything is varied and many decks are viable—a change to The Caverns Below is still warranted.
The Caverns Below is uniquely powerful versus several slower, control-oriented decks and played often enough that it’s pushing those decks out of play. This change should help expand the deck options available to players both now and after the release of the next expansion.

I'm happy to see this happen, just wish it happened a few months ago! I'm worried that this might not fix what was wrong with the quest, but I think we're likely to see fewer people play it.
I always hated playing these rogues. 50% of the time they didn't have their cards and I won rather easily. The other 50% of the time there was no possible way I could effectively counter their play and they pulled off the quest with me doing virtually nothing. Non-interactive gameplay is neither compelling or fun. Raising the number to five doesn't necessarily fix this.
How long did they wait to do this change ? FOREVER ? I mean... everybody knew this was a desperately needed change once they saw the quest for the first time, and they still took MONTHS and MONTHS... still pirate warrior is not changed yet.
Finaly!
The problem is Fire Fly and Igneous Elemental, if this nerf changes the archetype direction as some have already mentioned here I approve, if still this same bs highrolls complete the Quest Charge - Bounce - Charge SMOrc 26 damage in one turn ez peasy then the nerf will not change anything imo.
Honestly I bounce the minion I'm completing the quest with 5 times in game with ease anyway, this just helps provide some needed inconsistency so that the archetype is not oppressive in this meta. 8/10 change because of how easy it is still (assumedly) to get the required number of bounces off, while still providing an inconsistency that allows more deck options to be explored
Dont get me wrong, but why nerf this now? I mean, the arguments of ppl are "oh, they are too strong vs Priest or slower decks", but dude... I played a feel games with q rogue and yeah I won most games when I got a good draw - not so different from when I play Hunter or Pirate War btw against priest -, but almost every single Priest runs Dragonfire Potion and Shadow Visions so even when the quest is complete they can still clear de board more than once. Mages as well have an army of Ice Block, Frost Nova, until they eventually Alexstrasza + Fireball + Fireball + Frostbolt you. Both Mage and Priest strategies are pretty lame to play against as well with any other deck other than q rogue.
Not to mention quest rogue get smashed by every aggro deck while trying to survive and finish the quest with the four minions condition.
I mean, I'm glad Blizzard listens to its players voice and do things to improve, and I also apreciate the full dust refund but... I don't see the point nerfing this at all.
Instead of changing the number of minions they could have changed the stats. They could have make it to change all minions to 3/3 or 4/4..Then it will be more balanced imo.Now it's not that broken, but it is unbalanced without too many answers to it unfortunately..
Not bad, now ice block pls :D
this doesn't really change anything, should have made the minions 4/4
The numbers are not the problem, the design itself is... This card basically means that your deck is complete shit, but once you finish the quest your opponent usually has 1 turn to finish the game or he's fucked. This does not fix that problem, it just shifts it a little bit.
And in the meantime, Patches the Pirate is still killing any other aggro deck and Jade Idol is still killing any other control deck.
In the words of Ropecoach, a professional Gwent player: "They (Team 5) are always going in the wrong direction, and at this point I really have to assume that they are either not capable of changing that or that they are not willing to do that."
preach!
Keep saying "after the release of next expansion", I just want to put some words into the kind of annoucements that blizzards made and will make. Be clear, and 1-2 weeks before the release, tell us the date, so we know when to expect. Stop beating around the bush, that is the reason why Un Goro is not making as much money profit as Old Gods, people left, people stop buying packs... So be clear, and make good expansion and put more thoughts into the games and its longevity instead of into the quickening money pot, then you will have a good game~
This nerf is entirely because of people QQ. Not a Quest Rogue player before you say that. The deck was fine, not OP. It won against certain matchups and had a hard time against other, with the addition of the possibility of crushing you with good early hand. Like most decks in every card game.
Quit the bs. It's being nerfed because it's broken, not because it's overpowered. There's a difference between the two.
Example of a broken card: "Coin flip" - 1 mana spell - Flip a coin, 50% chance you win the game, 50% chance you lose
Example of an overpowered card: "MrMeeseeks" - 1 mana minion - 7/7
Every card game is essentially a coin flip but with better odds for the player that has RNG on his side .
In case of hearthstone the decision tree is so small that even small children can play it almost perfectly .
That means the result is almost entirely dependent on RNG .
Stop calming you actually need skill to play x deck . All you need is a good memory and sometimes good reactions .
Please, this deck was not broken, especially if played without reflexion. And even against the midrange/control the QR couldn't do anything else than ending the game, because they were already low HP.
Given the bad matchups of the QR, i guess you will now enjoy raging on the living manas, and cancer aggros, now that it's gone.
YES!! That is all
THANK
YOU

I have one golden, so more dust for me. It was unfair to slow decks but Jade idol is to.
