A Peek to the Past is This Week's Brawl! Only Basic and Classic Cards are Allowed!
Let's take it down a notch, there, brawler. Make a deck using only cards from the Basic and Clasic sets, but none of those fancy Epics of Legendaries, ya hear?
Trivia
- This is a brand new brawl.
- The brawl isn't a perfect blast from the past since some cards have changed since the early Hearthstone days and cards that were recently moved to the Hall of Fame set aren't available for use.
How it Works
- Build a deck using cards from the Basic and Classic sets. No Legendaries or Epics are allowed.
Old School Powerhouses
It's been a long time, friends, so let's take a look at some of the great cards from Vanilla Hearthstone that aren't common today.
Discuss This Week's Brawl
Head on over to our dedicated discussion thread on our Tavern Brawl forums.
Ok, it's playable. But I'd like too see Reward and HoF sets too in this brawl.
I'd love to see continuations on this theme. What about Brawls like No Basic, Only Rares, or Two-Words In Card Name, or other pseudo-random restrictions? I have no idea what would make for a good rares-only deck, but it would be fun to find out.
LEEEEE......aww, at least I have chicken.
I love this Brawl, it definitely makes my top 5 favorites. I've been playing since Naxx, so this is a bit nostalgic for me. It's also nice that they banned epics/legendaries, so every card in your deck counts even more.
I really enjoyed this one. I like playing token druid that's more midrange. Bringing back the violet teacher combos!
I had plenty of success with: ramp druid, tempo mage, miracle rogue, and mostly divine spirit priest.
This could be the playmode for beginners and a better starting experience. It might even give them a solid reason for buying classic packs since the needed rares should be easy to collect.
I think this mode is what Blizzard is testing via this tavern brawl.
Easy buzzard hunter...oh wait
undertaker naxx hunter.....oh wait
handlock.......oh wait
druid.......oopps
just read the no epic clause, but let's bring up nerfs anyway
So.. (throwing some ideas)
Warlock= zoo
Mage= Tempo Mage
Paladin= buffadin
Shaman= garbage (was unplayable till LOE, with the nerf to rockbitter don't see a reason to play shaman)
Priest= control
Rogue= would say miracle but no prep make it hard so I guess it's more of just a tempo pirate decks need to try it.
Warrior= ???? pirates?
Hunter = face/midrange isn't much different from the unguru version XD
Druid= just ramp into yetis XD
I won every game I played as shaman. . .
First try with zoo
Epic brawl... really does highlight just how much RNG and crap has made its way into the game lately. This was super fun.
Topped off by getting King Krush in my pack! Not that I'll use him but nice for the collection.
I agree! It's nice to go back to basics, actually thinking about minion trades and not having to play around randomly generated cards.
Hunter everywhere...
Net Decked from hearthpwn, free pack, got out and never looked back.
For new players it is an incredible tavern, but new players have to reach lvl = /
