This card is worse than Purify.
- Poor stats for mana cost
- Not a beast
- Draws two cards, does not play them. If it played two 1 drops it would be amazing.
- You play this card. Turn 6 you have two 1-drops. WTF do you need 1 drops for at turn 6 when you can play Savannah?
- Draws minions not just any 1-drop card. If you could draw two 1 mana spells it would be a decent card.
Hunter just got f***ed.
While streaming from the Bahamas, Kripp reviewed this card and responds to your critique. Thought you might like to watch it.

Haha that's brilliant.
Let's see if it gets played in constructed first; i'll happily eat my words.
And make a new account? Pffftt... Nothing wrong with shaking things up! Have at it, people.
Honestly, I think you're right. And Kripp even says, "Great in arena, MIGHT make it in constructed." Pretty sure when we're talking about cards being good, we're talking about Constructed.
This card is understatted for a 5 drop. And the effect is kinda weird when ideally you want to play Highmane on 6. Which means the cards you draw aren't even usable.
In a world with 3/5, 4/5, 5/4 4 drops, and 5/5, and 5/6 5 drops -- a 3/5 for 5 mana with no immediate board effect in a class that has very poor ways to interact with the board and a Hero Power that doesn't help board state at all is pretty bad.
However, at 4 mana this card would have been very good. It would also have a side benefit of making Houndmaster much better, as you could play this on 4, and a 1 drop Beast + Houndmaster on 5 -- which not having a beast on board has always been a huge deficit for an otherwise powerful card.
I know Hunter's 5 drop slot has been historically weak, but... well, this is just another weak 5 drop for Hunter.
Same hairdo with Rexxar
So, it's basically 7 mana 7/7 (3/5 + 2/1 + 2/1) with battlecry "freeze two enemies". Sounds good. Lol.
Looking at this card, I have a hunch the Hunter quest is going to be "summon X 1-cost minions".
That would synergize really well with Alleycat, Snake Trap, Rat Pack, Unleash the Hounds, Infested Wolf, etc, which hopefully might just be enough to push Midrange Hunter back into viability.
you said 1- cost minions, but you listed a bunch of 1/1 minions that are summoned via spells, minions, and deathrattles. I personally think the latter option is better than the one you actually stated
yeah let's hope that's how this one works too! That would make that sort of quest much more enjoyable albeit limit the cards that could achieve it
Azure Drake is played even without the Spell damage synergy. 4/4 is comparable to 3/5. It's arguable which one is better on turn 5. The question is which is better. Drawing a random card or two 1-drops. It isn't better, but considering the fact that Azure Drake is being rotated it at least worth consideration.
The real question is more like: Where did you ever saw a Hunter playing Azure Drake? not even Midrange Hunter ever run Azure drake.
That's fair. I'm not saying that it's an auto-include or something. Just that it worth considering in some situations. Hunter does have a card draw problem.
I think this card is going to revolutionize hunter. If you draw two timber wolves in a beast deck, that's guaranteed +2 attack for your beasts - like hounds. That's huge!
I agree timber wolf is probably the best option. Especially since you can mulligan him on turn 1 in order to play the *hopefully* amazing hunter quest
Tolvir Warden is not a beast, so you would need other minions on the board to activate the Timber Wolves.
If you are trying to use this card as a combo and not playing it on curve, it becomes very clunky.
Considering how Small-Time Recruits hasn't really panned out, this seems bad. "Draw two cards" should be exciting for Hunter, but only drawing one-drops is pretty bad. Desert Camel saw occasional play but a 2/4 for 3 isn't as far below curve as a 3/5 for 5 AND Camel summoned the minion directly. Sadly 0/10, maybe a little better if Hunter's quest is to summon 6 one-drops.
While I do agree the stats are pretty shit for a 5 drop, you can't really think of it as "drawing one-drops post turn 5." It's more of a thinning out the deck play, so when the aggressive hunter inevitably runs out of steam, they'll have a way better chance of drawing the heavy cards they DO want, as opposed to top decking their fiery bat turn 8.
People are shitting on it pretty hard, but from speculation the card is actually decent, and I could very feasibly see it as a one-of in hunter decks if the class takes off. It's hard to say though without actually playing games with the card and knowing what the meta will be like.
