Patch 4243 Now Live, Disenchant Timeframe for Updated Cards, ManaCast Episode 16
Important: Open beta is not starting on January 7, 2014. It will be starting shortly after.
An Update on Open Beta from Hearthstone's Production Director, Jason Chayes
Jason Chayes posted some great news on the Hearthstone blog this afternoon regarding open beta. Open beta is coming, and most importantly:
- If you have opted-in to the Hearthstone beta test before December 16, 2013, you should by today have received a Hearthstone beta invite.
- You will no longer be able to opt-in to the Hearthstone beta test starting on January 7, 2014. Once this date has passed, opt-ins will close and they will send out beta invites to the remaining people who have not received an invite between then and open beta.
Read the blue post below for more information! If you haven't opted-in to the beta test, what are you waiting for?!
Quote from Jason ChayesWe hope you’ve been having fun testing out the latest beta patch for Hearthstone—this update brought with it a bunch of bug fixes, some card changes, and the new Ranked Play system. Some of these updates were significant code changes, so we expect that some things will break, and we will also need your help to identify what’s still in need of fine-tuning. One other thing to mention is that we’ve been making great progress on improving server stability, but there are still a few things that have come up that we want to fix before we leave the closed beta phase.
With all of that said, we believe the right thing to do for the game is to not rush it out into open beta, but to instead hold onto it a little longer to make sure it’s ready for wider testing. At BlizzCon, we mentioned that we hoped to get the game into a state where it’s ready for open beta this month, but we’re just not quite there yet. The development team has been working hard to get this out before the end of the year, but our highest priority is that Hearthstone has an awesome launch when all gates are lifted and everyone can download it and play at the same time.
We’re close to the open beta—very close. And to enter this final part of our beta phase, we need your help. Keep trying out new decks, reporting bugs, and giving your feedback on our forums. That’s the best way you can help the team get Hearthstone into everyone’s hands as soon as possible.
We have some other news to share too. As of today, we have sent beta invites to everyonewho opted in to the Hearthstone closed beta test prior to Monday, December 16. If you opted in before that date and have not yet received an invite email, check your spam folders or different email tabs to see if you invite may have ended up in an unexpected location. If you still can’t find your Hearthstone beta invite, don’t worry! We’re putting together a list of all Battle.net accounts that opted in to the Hearthstone beta test and did not claim their beta key. These accounts will be flagged for beta access within the first few weeks of January.
Opt-ins for the closed beta test will end on January 7; we plan to invite everyone who opts in by that date to the closed beta test at some point before the open beta begins. So keep playing, testing, and amassing your Hearthstone collection, as we do not plan on performing another card data wipe.
Thanks for your patience and enthusiasm. Hearthstone would not be as far along as it is without your helpful feedback. Please continue to let us know what you like and what you think needs a little more work.
And if you haven’t opted in to the Hearthstone closed beta test, you can do so here.

Wish I had been lucky enough for a key before it began
yeah I opted in months ago and still no key. They are really dropping the ball on getting the emails actually sent out, seems to be a common issue where the opt in emails don't go out properly because they keep saying that every couple weeks on the forums.
This Pisses me off too, I have been signed for MONTHS since day 1 and I check my spam folder, my delete folder, EVERYTHING! and never got a key not even today with their comment that they would invite "everyone" what a FAIL!
No key here, opted in the first day your could. I didn't think to check the spam folder for the fist few months because all other Blizzard email has been routed to my standard inbox. It's frustrating to think that I may have been able to play months ago if I had checked the spam folder those first few months. Oh well, at least I can look forward to mid-January!
Yup....been opted in before December 16th and no key. WTF Blizz?
Been opted in from the start, still no key, if anyone has an extra please I've been wanting to play this for sooo long.
Entered so many competitions with 5000 or 2500 beta keys and never won "sadface".
One day... I dream I will get a key. I've been opted in for over four months...
I really hope they do in fact go through that list... Not to complain, but I will be so choked if they don't send me a key. :P
Yeah i'm the same, no beta key yet, opted in atleast 3 months ago, ticketting blizz cuz fairly annoyed.
been signed up for months.... still no key... and from the sound of it I'm not getting a key until early-mid January. sigh..... starting to think the wait isn't worth it at this point with all the sign ups to beta keys giveaways i've wasted time on.
i dunno ... i opted in pretty much the day you could, kept an eye on email, including spam and never got one as far as i can tell. Why on earth don't they just do it all within the account section of battle net instead of emailing ... Let the manual entry for codes apply only for contests.
I hope I get a beta key by today.. opted-in so long ago..
I have been in the Beta for a month now, today I received another key. I want to give it away. so do I just post it?
Opted in when it was first availible on battle.net. Still no key..
It sounds like we will be seeing opt-in waves continue until shortly after january 7th.
In the comments of the official post a blue answered:
"We will be inviting players that opted in between December 16th and January 7th within the first few weeks of January."
No key here... now I'm super paranoid that I somehow did something wrong, or missed the invite two months ago in a junk mail folder.
This is totally wrecking my day.
Already got a key for my partner after a lot of effort, turns out she had one in her spam folder for a month now, gg =(
You'd be surprised with how many people haven't opted-in to the beta who have been trying to get keys for the past few months. There was also that bug not too long ago which prevented people from being properly entered in the opt-ins so if they never went back to check, they wouldn't be getting in.
Great news though! Now we've just gotta push opt-in links and updates for the next 3 weeks.
