Hearthstone Price Changes Coming to Europe
Hearthstone goodies are about to get more expensive in Europe to "align with local and regional market conditions". These new prices go live on the 22 of March, before the new expansion goes live in April. We're assuming there will be no change to the current Un'Goro pre-order purchase and recommend getting in on that while you can.

GBP prices are crazy. £44.99 for 40 packs .. = ~55 USD .. for that money, i would never buy digital cards which get rotated into trash wild mode after 2 years anyway.
So many people say MTG is expensive, but actually it's not, since you get real cards which even gain in value as time passes and you can sell them once you are bored.
But to be honest: Even the old prices were too high (for me) and i didn't buy any packs so far. I guess, Blizzard did their researches and the conclusion was probably like: A) Customer doesn't buy packs anyway B) Buys packs and doesn't mind to pay slightly more
thats an absolute joke; The price of packs was allready too high before considering you only get 5 cards, often duplicates and with bad luck (which i had often enough - only 1 legendary after 30+ plus) and now even MTG is cheaper but with better droprates. They seriously have to add MORE cards to the packs and fix the pitty-timer drop-rates for legendaries, else this whole thing will backfire.
So you buy 40 packs for 50€ and with a little bit of bad luck (doesnt need that much actually xD) youll only get 1 !! legendary out of this purchase! and to even make it worse; youll get a noggenfogger for 50€ :D preeeeeettttty goood trade
i wasnt f2p at all, i always got prepurchase and an extra 40 packs, actually those 5€ dont hurt me, but the fact that this raise was so unnecessary makes me think of switching to f2p to not support this fucking greed (3 exp, 2 class leg, heroic brawl before release, price-raise) N/C blizzard this really kills f2p players for competition i think... in earlier days u even had neutral legendaries which you could use in more than one deck, where it was actually worth to craft it, nowadays (it even started with the last expansion (3class legendaries)) you need to have so have more legendaries to make different decks viable.
i hope some people will do the same and we (the community) pays it back to blizzard; so they have to reconsider this decisions
You're right,5 euros is not the end of the world but it makes you ask:what's next?! Monthly subscription?!(saying it makes the game more fun and diverse, because they're saying the same line for every retarded change) Increase the packs from 100g to 150g?! Completely remove Wild mode or Arena?!
After all these greedy changes i can't trust them anymore so i won't spend any money in this,i don't wanna regret spending more if the game dies in 1 year or something.
This paranoia is hysterical. They've never removed a single mode from Hearthstone - only added them. Pull yourself together.
I'm not even in Europe, yet I agree that this is a really stupid change. It just screams "I want more money" and nothing else. The other things that they've done for money at least had some sort of other purpose, but not this. Just pissing off the European players. You guys had a chance to redeem yourself with JtU. Now, you've just set that bar even higher.
Look, Team 5, I know you're a business and naturally, all businesses want to make money. But the community is equally as important as your income (and arguably more important if you have as much income as you probably have right now), and actually will impact it. A happier community means that more people will continue playing the game and buy more, thus making more money and making your players happier.
The art on this card was my exact face when hearing the news </3
Questing Adventurer
lol third world countries cant buy packs at these prices
So done with this game, goodbye, I know, no one will regret me, and I won't regret you either...
Kids who live in their parents basements and mash hatred towards blizzard with their doritos fingers that don't have jobs are the only ones who are mad.
Just in time for a new expansion, they've decided to raise the prices. And switching to a year with 3 expansions. Great. Guess $500m+ last year was not enough.
If your f2p you don't to worry about these prices
The point of his post
Your head
Sooo price for packs on pc for regions will be the same? I mean price in RUB, UAH, etc. will change only on Android?
Its so good to be a F2P player :D
Hearth Royale
that is really stupid...
sure, some players wont care at all and will buy as many packs as they did before, but a lot of players will just buy less packs and some players will stop buying packs for real money, so in the end this price "adjustment" wont earn them a single penny more, they just piss off their comunity
and on top of that they already have a problem getting new players into hearthstone, making it even more expensive wont help with that either
so the whole "companies want to earn money" argument is bullshit, if they want to get more money out of HS they should get more people into the game and to buy their packs for money, not scare them away from it.
European currencies have, for the most part, gotten absolutely battered against the dollar over the last several years (GBP down 30%, EUR down about 20%). Since Blizz is a U.S.-based company, that means they are effectively making much less via European sales than they were when the game launched.
The Euro price increases do not seem to be severe enough to turn people off in droves. Folks with hard constraints might buy a few less packs around the margins; but honestly I doubt it. Otherwise, it will just be people who think they are entitled to continue to buy a product at the same price forever regardless of the world changing around them (e.g. children).
The GBP increases are a little more severe and might marginally impact demand. However, most of those people will still buy packs, just fewer ones.
Blizzard doesn't care how many packs they sell - they could sell 1 pack for $1bn or 1bn packs for $1 and be in the same place. As long as people still spend the same gross amount of currency, they'll be in the same or better place.
TL;DR - blame Brexit.
i get it but it just doesnt work that way
in my experience most people have a budget for gaming purposes, so if they have a budget of 50€ per expansion and blizzard raises the price per pack by 10% they will still get 50€
and blizzard still has problems aquiring new players, making it more expensive might even cost them money in the long run, every game naturally loses players over time and if they fail to get new players to play their game...
this kind of business strategy naver made sense to me "we dont make enough money so we raise our prices, oh no less people buy our product now so we have to raise our prices to compensate for that, oh no now even less people buy our product, now we have to raise our prices again..."
i think you overestimate how much money people are willing to invest into a game like this, I personally could raise my budget per expansion but i dont want to, thats the money hearthstone is worth to me, end of story.
most people will stay on their budget and i think the 2 minorities will cancel each other out
the one minority beeing the whales that will buy as many packs as before und the other one beeing the entitled players who are pissed of and will buy less packs than before, i still dont think they will get more than a 3% plus out of this 10% price increase and is that really worth the risk?
especially considering the "new players" problem, i know a lot of people that were interested in HS and didnt even start as F2P because they were told how much money they have to invest if they dont want to be limited to one mediocre deck for months
i didn claim this will turn away their player base, it wont, i just stated that every game loses players over time, due to a vast amount of different reasons and they have to get new players to hold their player base on a certain level, increasing the investment cost by selling 3 expansions instead of 2 AND raising the prices wont help with that
maybe they will get a few easy bucks out of it but in my opinion keeping the price stable would be a better long term investment
