Hearthstone: Lost Secrets of Un'Goro: New Expansion Name Leaked?
A keen user on reddit has found a resume online mentioning 'Hearthstone: Lost Secrets of Un'Goro'.
Voice actress Lani Minella has done work on many Blizzard titles in the past including previous Hearthstone expansions, and the resume was found on her personal website. Based on those facts this might very well be the next Hearthstone expansion!
Un'Goro?
Un'Goro Crater is a zone in World of Warcraft filled with exotic plants and wildlife such as Dinosaurs. Definitely a fan favorite zone!
A bit early this year for the rumor mill to start spinning, but let the hype begin!
From what I've seen this place looks like a good one to base an expansion/adventure on. I haven't played any WoW so I don't know how important it is lore-wise.
However, fixing Hunter is, in my opinion, much easier than devoting a whole lot of broken cards to it. I don't think its cards are bad, it's just that midrange fails to exist nowadays except in Dragon Priest, in a way. It's either turn 3/4/5 death or turn 1000 death right now, and being that hunters can't use the pirate package optimally, it's not fast enough etc etc. The Hunter and, somewhat, Paladin problem can and will be solved with a balance patch, it doesn't really need an expansion, I think.
I see legendaries such as Lar'kowi, Maximilian of Northshire, that elemental dude on top of the volcano, and maybe the silithid broodmother. Heck maybe even some gorillas.
Wasnt that baron geddon? Not sure tho
Quick predictions:
- Hunter will get the love from this xpac. But it will take a few weeks for its best meta to be found.
- Shaman legendary -- that fire boss atop the volcano. Add a C'thun-style effect: Play overload cards over time and he comes out with a built-up AOE attack akin to an Abyssal Enforcer, depending on the number of overloads.
- Priests get a better geode 2-drop.
- Rogues will get poisons. Plural.
- With all the oozes, weapons will not be safe.
- Look for references to Land of the Lost and Fraggle Rock.
- Paladins might get a card related to the Shaper's Terrace, because Keeper of Uldaman is getting retired.
- Something here will justify Purify, and it will give priests a new, yet absurdly complex, OTK.
- Just two new dragons. But ...
- Members of the League of Explorers will return. With highlander mechanics. Hm, there's a 2-mana bronze whelp courier for the league that contacts/shuffles into the deck for highlander-playing boys and girls ...
- A bronze dragonflight legendary with a very familiar summoning theme, shouting something about fortune and glory, and it will be the new king of highlander decks and the bane of aggro.
Hunter will get 1 mana 1/3 , +1 attack when each beast come into play for sure.
Do you think they'll reveal it early now that it's leaked?
They will probably stick to the original plan...:) And they will probably make a joke about "surprising and unexpected" new expansion as Blizzard did with the other leaked content...;)
Is this the expansion where Blizzard "Brings hunter back" via their standard formula? Who's ready for the new hunter card, 4 mana 7/7 Devilsaur?
Lani changed her resume around noon today, so it's very likely Blizz sent her a little letter this morning:

That seems like a logical reaction in case it was a real unexpected leak.
I'm 10000% okay with a Dinosaur themed expansion
Just grab 'em by the claws
The first version has +2 likes, while the second one has -2 likes...
yeah it was lagging...
Just grab 'em by the claws
Hmmm, honestly with the state of the game I'm more interested in the rumor mill for the potential of balance changes, client updates and PvE content. Adventures are always fun, but I don't know how much such a limited card pool can do to shake things up currently. I'm looking forward to the break from ladder, if nothing else.
I wonder what the mechanical theme of the expansion will be. New keywords are probably my favorite aspect of getting new cards.
An expansion with a balance patch is probably the best possible thing for the game right now. My understanding was, since 2016 was a two expansion year, the cycle would have us going into a new adventure next. here's hoping you're correct.
If we are getting a Jurassic Park expansion I want a Flinstones adventure.
