Hearthstone on Android Gets Smaller! Optimizations & No More Wasted Space
Finally. FINALLY! Hearthstone has been optimized on Android to make the install size smaller. Promises of improved patching in the future are also noted in the update notes. It's possible future content will come right off Blizzard's CDN as we saw in this post a few weeks ago.
- The initial download from Google Play for the update is 12 MB.
- Once you open the app, Hearthstone will download 1.1 GB.
- iOS performed better than Android, they intend to improve both platforms.

- We’ve made some optimizations to Android distribution! This will change how Hearthstone is downloaded and will help lead to a smaller install size and smoother patching in the future.

Yong Woo on the Release
Quote from Yong WooSuper excited about rolling out the Android download experience / file size improvement! Are there similar plans for IOS ?
iOS was already performing much better than Android. But we intend to continue to improve both platforms!
omg..just BUY AN IPHONE!
How about you buy us all iphones.
Haven't had any issues with Hearthstone on my Galaxy Note 4, but sure, nice.
lol this is pathetic, please don't waste time doing this on iOS
it's 2017
we have 64/128/256 gb ~
Meh...HS size was one of the reasons for me to change the phone with 8 Gb memory to the one with 128 Gb. =))
Hearthstone is one of the reasons I bought myself an iPad. Its so much more fun and comfort to play it on a tablet
PRAISE THE LORD ITS ABOUT FREAKING TIME
The game become 900mb ligheter after update
This is great! I recently downloaded Hearthstone for my tablet.
Can we get Hearthstone on Chromebooks already?
Hopefully this will bring my phone install size down from the 2.64Gb it is currently occupying...
We asked for a change to Patches and this is what we get. Well played Blizzard, well played.
So finally a improvement on storage
best photo of the day xD
Its still thesame download amount in the end. So it hasn't done shit
It makes updates more efficient, so rather than redownloading a gig or 2 each update, you'll either just download the 12MB again, or more likely just a few MB or KB within the app itself.
Wasn't the download something like 1.5 or 1.7 before? Either way I hope if they've changed the way the asset management works this will let us download only new parts for future updates. That will make patches much more reasonable.
