Update 9:25 PM EST: Packs have begun to go out. It could take some time for them to go out to everyone.
Tri-Class Card Drop Rates Fixed - Affected Players Will Receive 33% of Packs Opened as Compensation
The bug with tri-class cards having a higher than intended drop-rate has been fixed!
- The hotfix for this issue went live at 2:30 PM PST.
- You will only receive compensation for packs opened prior to the hotfix.
- Compensation is equal to 33% of the number of packs you opened.
- Other regions will not see this bug as it will be fixed before Gadgetzan is activated on them.
- It has not yet been determined when exactly the compensation packs will be delivered. They're working "as quickly as possible".
Quote from CM_ZeriyahGreetings,After the launch of Mean Streets of Gadgetzan on the Americas server, we discovered a bug with Mean Streets of Gadgetzan card packs that unintentionally made the drop rate of tri-class cards higher than intended. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
A hotfix was rolled out to all players on the Americas server at 2:30PM PST, which corrects this issue. Players on the Americas server will now see tri-class cards appear at a drop rate that is consistent with other cards of their rarity.
Any player on the Americas server who opened Mean Streets of Gadgetzan packs before 2:30PM PST will receive additional Mean Streets of Gadgetzan packs as compensation. The affected players will receive 33% of the total amount of Gadgetzan packs opened before 2:30PM PST, rounded up, to a minimum of one, regardless if the player acquired packs through gold, Quests, or real money. Since cards are generated upon pack opening and not pack purchase, packs purchased before the hotfix but opened after the hotfix will not experience this bug and will not be a part of the compensation roll out.
For example, if a player opened their 50 pack pre-purchase bundle before 2:30PM PST, they will receive 17 additional packs. (33% of 50) If a player opened one pack of Mean Streets of Gadgetzan cards and completed a Quest that awards two packs before 2:30PM PST, they will receive one additional pack. (33% of 3) If a player opened 47 packs before 2:30PM PST, and 23 packs after 2:30PM PST, they will receive 16 additional packs. (33% of 47 affected packs)
This fix will also be added to the release of Mean Streets of Gadgetzan before packs are available to open in all other regions, so players will not be affected by this bug when Mean Streets of Gadgetzan goes live in their region.
We are currently working on when the compensation will be applied to affected players. We will provide additional updates as they become available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
how the fuck they dont think in that, i think it was obvious that those cards will have a highter chance to drop
OK, so that explains why I had 21 additional packs to open this morning. I thought it was a mistake so I opened them as fast as I could. I got Wrathion out of one of the packs so I won't complain! Dragon Priest, here I come!
I ended up getting Kun the Forgotten King, Inkmaster Solia (which I keep wanting to call Inkmaster Scalia), and Krul the Unshackled just from the 21 packs.
Not bad
I opened my packs past the hotfix, and 40% of my cards are duplicates. Blizzard told me I wouldn't get compensation packs. Is it normal to have so many duplicates???
Sorry if kind of a dumb question but it's the first time I preorder packs with money and feelsbadman with the purchase
u_u thank you. I'm gonna complain some more but have no hope in blizzard's response
Quarter of the comments here: "Hey, we lost like, 25% value from our packs. Even though we get the dust. And an extra X amount of chances to open an epic or Legendary after the fact. It was fair."
One quarter: "Hey, cool, I got pretty much every card and 4 legendaries anyway, now I get bonus ones. Thanks Blizzard! I wasn't affected, and now I get bonus cards!"
One quarter: "Uhm... wtf? This is BS unfair capitalist swinework by greedy Blizzard. Screw this company for giving compensation to their audience after acknowledging a screw up."
The last quarter: "Cool, I got nothing special, and get nothing extra. I feel really special :\ Thanks Blizzard."
I'm just sayin', everyone is a little bit right, and a little bit wrong. Guys who got compensation, you DO have to acknowledge that you got a massive boon here. The amount of people opening their 20-30 free packs and getting way more value than the duplicates would have taken away? It's cool, congrats, just remember how the stats for card rarity and pity timers work, then add that to the dust value you already had, and I can almost guarantee you will have come out ahead.
And everyone else (like me) who got nothing special for not being unlucky this morning? It sucks. I really do feel for you. But it happens, and bitching about it, or blaming the other players who... y'know... had nothing to do with it? That's stupid. Just live with the facts as they are, and hope (like I am) that the value does work out approximately enough to not feel disadvantaged in the current meta.

/still salty, can you tell? Hahah.
I got like no tri-class cards (like 3 or so) and I was given compensation packs.
Feelsokayman
My 25% estimate accounted for dust.
Until you have most of the set, a random card is worth way more than a duplicate, twice or more. Early on, I'd say a random Legendary is worth $10 or 1000 dust, while a duplicate is obviously only worth 40% of that. I lost $12 on that alone in my first 50 packs that I opened before the deadline.
Agreed, only greedy players would down vote that comment. Blizz admitted the mistake, however, the outcome was unfair, since it unfairly imbalances the work or moneys spent by players.
The solution blizz came up was not the correct one - it disenfranchises the consumer.
first 100 packs before the hotfix I got 4 Legendaries. After the hotfix, I got 34 packs for reparations of this bug and I got 4 more legendaries, 1 of which was my FIRST Golden Legendary EVER!!!!!!!! It was Don Han Cho :P
So yeah, I'm super happy with the 33% packs! :D
Yeah I knew it didn't make any sense to wait. There were people that had opened hundreds of packs by the time the bug was discovered so they had to be compensated somehow.
Hell yes. Guys don't do anything and wait - Waiting.... waiting, waiting. Blizz: okay fixed! And here's a fuck you to the players that listened! Nothing!
So.... about that bug fix... I've just opened 50 packs and I got like 13 Grimestreet Smuggler..
Sad to think that I will not have compensation even tough I was affected by the same bug...
I opened nearly 100 packs and did notice that over the course of doing so the Jade Spirit went from EVERY pack to just here and there. I got 13 packs as compensation, but it was kind of crazy that I had 36 Jade Spirits to dust.. lol.
Managed to open my 50 packs just before the cutoff apparently. Got 17 free packs this morning, with two legendaries from them (only got one in the original 50), so pretty happy here lol.
Exclusive picture of EU players today.
I am salty indeed, I think for the players that opened 30 - 80 packs it was quite worth. But I got a golden legendary in my 30 packs, so I cannot complain xD.
So, I've opened 15 packs before the hot fix and I got no compensation
