The two most often played weapons (Fiery War Axe,Truesilver Champion, Eaglehorn Bow) have 2 durability and when played by your opponent are used in the same turn. The third isGorehowl...typically, this new card will remove them all, and the 4-3 body is a LOT better than the 3-2 body of acidic swamp ooze just because you don't have to waste your early curve minions onAcidic Swamp Ooze, a bad body for pure tech card (useful only against weapon classes no less) with no synergy. This card is awesome in terms of its balance. 4 attack on turn 3 can help you to deal with a ton of the currently popular 3, 4, and 5 mana cards that dominate the meta right now (Tomb Pillager,Flamewaker, Azure Drake,Misha,Huffer). This card would have been dynamite in the meta we had before shaman took over, how it fits into the new meta after the expansion we will have to wait and see, but I don't see any situation in which i'd rather run acidic swamp ooze over this.
You're right. In some matchups new ooze is better.
Almost definitely not going to see constructed play after the initial experimentation, but all of the non-adventure expansions are going to have filler, and that should be fine
The card is not strictly as trash as most people insist, the ooz's body is not absolute garbage (passes the vanilla test), plus lots of weapons have two or less charges. It may be an undercreep to the swamp ooz, but it's still a pretty good pick in arena, and is still an optional anti-weapon tech card in the meta.
Seriously who pays these people to come defend shit cards?
It's called a Sewer Ooze because it's SHIT
Is okay in arena since those tech cards become uncommon to find, but no reason to play it over Acidic Swamp Ooze or Harrison Jones in constructed, it's is just a more expensive non-tribal version of the 1 mana 1/2 pirate that has the same effect, won't see any play in constructed.
Why do they insist in creating cards like these? My God...
Because without filler/ soft counter cards there are no good cards.
What retarded nonsense. They say that, but it's simply not true. That's like saying you're incapable of appreciating high-class cuisine if you've never gotten food poisoning.
If all the food tastes great, then isn't that just a GOOD thing? You don't have to eat shit to be able to appreciate good food. So tell me how a game MUST have crappy useless cards you are NEVER, EVER going to use for it to have good cards in it? What happens if you don't, do all the goods card spontaneously combust or some shit?
This is why I fucking hate this stupid "you have to have shit cards to have good cards" argument. There's absolutely NO logic behind it whatsoever. You're not going to use the shit cards ANYWAY, so what actual purpose do they serve other than wasting slots in boosters that could be filled with useful stuff? And no, DON'T talk about Arena, I don't give a crap about Arena.
Okay, let's make this a little more clearer.
Hearthstone contains 922 collectible cards right now. You decide to take the 300 best ones because bad cards are like food poisoning, you don't need them. Now you decide to make a deck with those 300 cards, but you can only put 30 of them in it. So you take the 30 best ones amongst the 300 best one. The 270 others taste good and all, but not as much as the top 30. And suddenly, your high-class cuisine taste weird because it's not high-high-class cuisine. Your appreciation of a card is relative to the power of other cards.
Another example. Let's say they print a 6/6 for 2 mana. You probably think it's good, and in Hearthstone, it would. Not because we tasted it and it wasn't shit, but because we know what's the average 2-drop is and this card is way above. If it wasn't the case, if this exact same card was released in a game where the average 2-drop is an 8/8, you would call it bad. Same stats, same mana cost, but suddenly, it doesn't taste good at all.
That's why there's always bad cards in every single CCG/TCG. No matter how good is a card, it's only good because it's better than something else.
This isn't a "strictly" worse ooze as many people suggesting. It still removes 1 charge of a weapon. Most current common weapons you wanna deal with at turn 3 would already have only 1 durability available. Shamans can be incentivized to trade or help trade in your early minions with the 1/3 Spirit Claws. And even if your not getting rid of a weapon in a single battlecry it still removes a charge which is a big deal.
Toxic Sewer Ooze is a good option for turn 3 if people are looking for early weapon answers that aren't awkward on the mana curve.
BUT if the new expansion weapons see play then this card won't be as useful as the new Warrior and Hunter weapons have 4 durability.
Lastly... does anyone know what happens if you use this (or Bloodsail Corsair) on 3/1 Eaglehorn Bow with Snipe secret active? Does the weapon reach 0 durability then back up to 1?
Battlecry procs before secret, weapon is destroyed then snipe activates
What compels people to defend cards that everyone knows are fucking shit?
