Update 12:40 PM EDT: Ben Brode confirms 0 wins gives you 1 pack as a reward.
Competitive Tavern Brawls with Entry Fees Coming Soon!
A new Tavern Brawl type is coming soon titled Heroic Brawl which works a bit like arena except we're using constructed decks! You will need to pay an entry fee in order to play but you can earn some pretty awesome rewards.
- The entry fee is $9.99 USD or 1000 Gold.
- You will build a Standard deck using your own card collection. No changes once it is locked in!
- Your deck can be played up until you hit 12 wins or 3 losses. You will earn rewards based on your total wins.
- Rewards featured up to 50 packs for a run, multiple legendaries, and the usual gold + dust.
- The Heroic Brawl only lasts for the duration of a regular Tavern Brawl week!
- When this special mode is running, there will not be a regular Tavern Brawl.
- You can only run Heroic Brawl five times during the week.
Rewards
Clarifications
Quote from BlizzardThis brawl is pretty different. We want it to feel more like a tournament, and so the rewards are weighted heavily towards the high end of wins. The reward for 0 wins is a single pack. If this scares you, you may want to wait for next week's Brawl and just enjoy the fun on Twitch. :) (Ben Brode)The pack rewards are from the most recent expansion - so it would be Whispers of the Old Gods. The Legendaries are random. (Zeriyah)
The current limit is five runs. (Zeriyah)
Announcement Post
Quote from BlizzardReady for the ultimate competitive Tavern Brawl experience that will test Hearthstone’s best in an all-out battle for glory? If you think you’re up to the challenge, get your deck ready and dive into the fray, because Heroic Brawl is coming!
Heroic Brawl will challenge even Hearthstone’s most experienced players as they vie for glory and in-game rewards! Participants will create a Standard deck from their existing card pool and lock it in before their first Heroic Brawl match. No changes can be made to your Heroic Brawl deck once you’ve locked it in, so be sure to do a bit of testing before you finalize your deck.
Once you’ve locked in your Standard deck for Heroic Brawl, you’ll be pitted against other Heroic Brawlers in heated battle. Just like the Arena, you want to shoot for 12 wins to get the best rewards—but if you get three losses, you’re out!
For Hearthstone’s best brawlers, 50 packs, a heap of Gold, piles of Arcane Dust, and three golden Legendaries sit at the end of the 12-win rainbow. The rewards are significantly different than what you have come to expect in the Arena, and the more games you win, the better they get. Are you ready to take on the best and brightest of competitive Hearthstone?
Heroic Brawl is not for the faint of heart, and is a unique experience meant for the extremely competitive and experienced Hearthstone player. To speak more on Heroic Brawl and the philosophy behind it are two of Hearthstone’s game designers for Tavern Brawls, Dan Emmons and Pat Nagle.
Are you cracking your knuckles in anticipation yet? Here’s how you can participate!
Heroic Brawl lasts for only one normal Tavern Brawl week and has an entry fee of $9.99 USD or 1000 gold. You can participate in Heroic Brawl for a limited amount of completed runs. As mentioned above, Heroic Brawl rewards scale depending on how many wins you get, so be sure to do your best each run!
If you’re not ready to t Tavern Brawl week.
We hope that our Heroic Brawl scratches the competitive itch of the players looking for a high risk, high reward experience. Heroic Brawl is coming soon, so keep an eye out for updates.
We’re always looking to try new things in Hearthstone, so let us know what you think of Heroic Brawl on the official Hearthstone forums!
Just confirming this with the community: If you pay the 1000 gold entry fee, do you get to play up to five times, or is it 1000 gold for one time, up to 5 times buy in?
EDIT: My wording is kind of weird sorry. What I meant is which one of these is the case?
1000g = 5 x Runs
or
5x(100g = 1 run)
1000 g each run, you can buy it up to five times meaning you can do only 5 runs costing you 5000 g in total.
You can only do 5 runs , theyre not so greedy after all Kappa
It's so shitty that we don't have an option to skip this event and not pay 1000g if we don't like taking a chance on the prize pool.
It's 3,27% for 9 or more wins and 14,45% for 6 or more.
Assuming a constant win rate of 50%? That's not how it works.
In every game there's 1 winner and 1 loser.
Your math is off.
Assuming a 50% win rate, 3.27% get to at least 9 wins, and 14.45% will get to at least 6 wins.
Here is another thought on this. Considering anything but top tier wins are nearly worthless because the set is old why not give a try away for free. Yes you can get a lot of dust and spend it on the next expansion which kind of hurts their bottom line. But it would be way worse for them if this was after the new expansion. Most people will get a legendary value from this. The pro players a lot of dust (which most are already hording). I wish this was a christmas present from Blizzard. If they gave away even one try of this during Christmas I think the reaction would be much better.
PAY TO WIN, TIL YOU DIE, TIL DA BLOOD RUNS OUT YOUR EYES!
not bad ! thats how u keep a game fresh :)
Hello Ben :)
Why are people still talking about participating in this? Only high legend players will play this. For a casual player to even it out you must reach 7 wins. 7 WINS! Imagine having 7-2 in high legend ranks..but then you just returned what you have paid. So it's like 8-12 wins and only 2 losses on high legend ranks to actually get something. I know 50 packs 3 golden leg. etc isn't 'something' but seriously when was the last time you saw a professional hearthstone streamer having 12-2 on legend ranks? Thijs, Kolento, Lifecoach and Sjow maybe. But that's it! It will be a format in which only 5-10 people in the whole world will be able to reach 'real' reward.
to be even you need around 4,5 wins, compared with arena where u are even at 3 wins its just stupid to play it. it would be fine if they would burn gold for packs like 7 packs even for a 0:3 but this way you gain more if you go 0:3 in arena.
also you have to netdeck or you lose 900 gold for a cool deck idea that doesnt work; you cant change your deck AND you are limited to your deckpool.
also they robbed us by the free pack every time they do this stupid brawl
HOLY SHIT BLIZZARD PLS FIRE TEAM 5 AND HIRE SOME MONKEYS :D
It's because they know people have too much gold stacked for next expansion ! They want us to pay for future packs and not have it for free with gold.
just release more playable cards and maybe change some basic mechanics like hp pool to enable more (and higher costed) cards. more good cards = more desire to get a card = more people who spend money to take a shortcut.
its not our fault that we hord gold bc we only need 5% of new released card. people are complaning about power creep and boring cards, some cards are WAY to long in the meta.
so change the game to enable other cards, some old ones and some new. bring back handlock with some new additions, add some new cards for mill druid and mill rogue, push control by making more cards like deathlord and doomsayer (high hp with a drawback), update the aoe (we got around +1/+1 on most cards compared to classic but aoe and hp didnt change)
So Blizzard has done it... we now have a highly competitive official Shaman only game mode! Well played...
This is disgusting
well played blizzard
The amount of vitriol on here over this is absurd. This is a one week thing that Blizzard is trying out. From their comments above it is clear they are fully aware this does not appeal to all players, that it is high-risk-high-reward, and are OK with that. If you don't like it, then don't participate in it (watch some streamers play it on Twitch!). Simple as that. The rest of the game is the same game you've been playing, so regularly scheduled card flopping goes on as usual. All you are losing is Tavern Brawl for one week. If this proves unsuccessful then you'll never see it again. The best things we can do to make Hearthstone better is to offer constructive feedback, but remember, this game mode is not intended to appeal to those who don't spend money on the game, primarily play Arena, or are casual players. If this mode does not appeal to you then raging about it is not helpful to Blizzard, the Hearthstone community, or your blood pressure.
When you deal with people in a non-online setting, does raging at them make them listen to you or want to understand your point of view?
Blizzard wants to make Hearthstone better, but what you're doing is mistaking "better" for "making everything they do appeal to me". This mode is not intended to appeal to everyone and Blizzard actively told people that in the press release and materials. Hearthstone has many player demographics, so sometimes things will be aimed at a play-style that others aren't interested in. Sure, it sucks that for one week there won't be normal Tavern Brawl, but from Blizzard's point of view, having their programmers shoe-horn this into Tavern Brawl probably cost a lot less in development costs than programming an entirely new area of the client to house a game mode they weren't sure would be a permanent addition to the game.
So relax and if you don't like this game mode, it'll be alright. Maybe the next one will be up your alley.
