Competitive Tavern Brawls with Entry Fees Coming Soon!
A new Tavern Brawl type is coming soon titled Heroic Brawl which works a bit like arena except we're using constructed decks! You will need to pay an entry fee in order to play but you can earn some pretty awesome rewards.
- The entry fee is $9.99 USD or 1000 Gold.
- You will build a Standard deck using your own card collection. No changes once it is locked in!
- Your deck can be played up until you hit 12 wins or 3 losses. You will earn rewards based on your total wins.
- Rewards featured up to 50 packs for a run, multiple legendaries, and the usual gold + dust.
- The Heroic Brawl only lasts for the duration of a regular Tavern Brawl week!
- When this special mode is running, there will not be a regular Tavern Brawl.
- You can only run Heroic Brawl five times during the week.
Rewards
Clarifications
Quote from BlizzardThis brawl is pretty different. We want it to feel more like a tournament, and so the rewards are weighted heavily towards the high end of wins. The reward for 0 wins is a single pack. If this scares you, you may want to wait for next week's Brawl and just enjoy the fun on Twitch. :) (Ben Brode)The pack rewards are from the most recent expansion - so it would be Whispers of the Old Gods. The Legendaries are random. (Zeriyah)
The current limit is five runs. (Zeriyah)
Announcement Post
Quote from BlizzardReady for the ultimate competitive Tavern Brawl experience that will test Hearthstone’s best in an all-out battle for glory? If you think you’re up to the challenge, get your deck ready and dive into the fray, because Heroic Brawl is coming!
Heroic Brawl will challenge even Hearthstone’s most experienced players as they vie for glory and in-game rewards! Participants will create a Standard deck from their existing card pool and lock it in before their first Heroic Brawl match. No changes can be made to your Heroic Brawl deck once you’ve locked it in, so be sure to do a bit of testing before you finalize your deck.
Once you’ve locked in your Standard deck for Heroic Brawl, you’ll be pitted against other Heroic Brawlers in heated battle. Just like the Arena, you want to shoot for 12 wins to get the best rewards—but if you get three losses, you’re out!
For Hearthstone’s best brawlers, 50 packs, a heap of Gold, piles of Arcane Dust, and three golden Legendaries sit at the end of the 12-win rainbow. The rewards are significantly different than what you have come to expect in the Arena, and the more games you win, the better they get. Are you ready to take on the best and brightest of competitive Hearthstone?
Heroic Brawl is not for the faint of heart, and is a unique experience meant for the extremely competitive and experienced Hearthstone player. To speak more on Heroic Brawl and the philosophy behind it are two of Hearthstone’s game designers for Tavern Brawls, Dan Emmons and Pat Nagle.
Are you cracking your knuckles in anticipation yet? Here’s how you can participate!
Heroic Brawl lasts for only one normal Tavern Brawl week and has an entry fee of $9.99 USD or 1000 gold. You can participate in Heroic Brawl for a limited amount of completed runs. As mentioned above, Heroic Brawl rewards scale depending on how many wins you get, so be sure to do your best each run!
If you’re not ready to t Tavern Brawl week.
We hope that our Heroic Brawl scratches the competitive itch of the players looking for a high risk, high reward experience. Heroic Brawl is coming soon, so keep an eye out for updates.
We’re always looking to try new things in Hearthstone, so let us know what you think of Heroic Brawl on the official Hearthstone forums!
I think the idea of an heroic brawl is actually pretty good. You have to realise that this is targeting more experienced players in hearthstone that sometimes miss the challenge. After hitting legend for the x’th time, there is really not much more to achieve. This brings up a fast changing meta during the week. There are not many players participating and those that do, do not have access to data sites that tell you what the best decks are, what matchups are good and so on. This will create much more talking and brain storming with friends to create your own deck that you think will do good. Net decking will for sure happen, but when a deck has proven itself and many players are picking it up, it won’t hit 12 wins anymore.
The entry fees are high and as a f2p player myself, it will for sure hurt when you hit a 0-3 win in your run, but you know what you sign up for. And imagine you hit the jackpot, the hype and excitement of playing those last matches must for sure be thrilling. I can’t wait!
I would have liked to see that blizzard would have this mode running next to the normal brawl since this would not trigger the casual hearthstone players that feel they got robbed a pack and cannot play in a different mode, but that on a side note. The idea is pretty good.
Well, at least I'll get an interesting stream VOD from Kripp (and a couple of his rant videos) the week this goes live. Twitch integration intensifies, it seems.
No way in hell I am spending 1k gold on this.
since i dont need packs from the old gods im not planning to take part in this brawl and however i have 11k gold and completely free to play, i would rather invest 1k gold for 10 new packs from the upcoming expansion
would be worth it, if even winning 1 games gives you a legendary.
Not worth it. The best players who don't need more cards will get more cards, for everyone else it's gonna be a pretty useless mode.
With a real money entry fee how the heck is this not gambling? Poker tournaments are considered gambling as example. It's also illegal in the United States for minors to gamble. I understand it's even stricter in the EU. Not sure how well this was thought out by Blizzard.
The only silver lining is a number of the cancer deck players will all be in this brawl gambling their money/gold away making it easier to ladder.
I'm wiling to bet that not even most pro and streamers will end up with 12 wins .
The rewards will on average be pretty bad for 1000 gold .
And why isn't the first try free like in arena ? Many people won't get the chance to try this at all !
Yayy you can rename it to "Shaman and Druid Brawl"
With the current state of the game this is ridiculous
It feels like Twitch made a deal with Blizzard where they both come out ahead at the expense of the players. Blizzard gets a bunch of money, and Twitch gets some new subscribers and increased ad revenue. They have probably already sold their advertising on their site at a premium during that week due to a projected increase in viewers. If you are against this brawl, boycott it by not watching the brawl on Twitch that week either.
A Brawl for the rich!
The rich become richer and the poor stay poor...
And those that have some gold and try it out will probably also become poor S:
This is literally only for those that reach legend ranks anytime they want and have np spending stuff for high stakes game. Everyone else will most likely just end up getting rewards that are below 1000g worth.
They're golden. If you have 110 golden then jesus.
its a competitive mode with this run, but to tell you the truth i play HS for fun once i reach rank 5 in standard or wild, i start making random decks and play around for fun, knowing my potential against the money value i don't think i will be able to run this mode, they should have made a brawl for people like us that looks forward for a tavern brawl for fun and get a standard pack from it, imo
Wow. 10 bucks! That's a lot. I know people who wouldn't even buy the welcome bundle and I think that is an amazing deal. I'm not sure wether I should buy 10 packs or play this? I feel I won't get my value out of the 10 bucks
If you have friends / know people that wouldn't purchase the "Welcome Bundle" because it didn't seem to be worth the $$ -- well, shit, man. NO WAY they will invest in this BS, right?
What I can't seem to understand is how this format is considered a Tourney. ! ?
I personally think that it will be A GREAT brawl one day. You know... when you introduce more than one class to the game...
Recently Kripp said in his video that Standard is not good (or getting boring or something similar) and that he does not know what to do until the new expansion comes. He said maybe he will stream other (sponsored) games instead. With this new brawl Kripp will probably stay with HS. So to me that is a mode made for streamers. Have you noticed they have hundreds of thousands of dust and gold etc? No problem for them to play it. For very rich people no problem too. But as a casual I think that for every player that goes 12-2, there are 4 people with 1-3. Math said this is a no-no
you obviously have never played tournament games. your paying the fee to play, and you have no promises to get anything by the end. it is only your own skill that matters. you earn your rewards.
in addition. your math is wrong. 1dust= roughly 2.5 gold, and must be counted. the moment you get to 5 wins your gaining more than the worth of 1000 gold in this game.
it is not fair for everyone
they should free all the cards in standard mode for everyone if they want to challenge the player's skills
