Update 12:40 PM EDT: Ben Brode confirms 0 wins gives you 1 pack as a reward.
Competitive Tavern Brawls with Entry Fees Coming Soon!
A new Tavern Brawl type is coming soon titled Heroic Brawl which works a bit like arena except we're using constructed decks! You will need to pay an entry fee in order to play but you can earn some pretty awesome rewards.
- The entry fee is $9.99 USD or 1000 Gold.
- You will build a Standard deck using your own card collection. No changes once it is locked in!
- Your deck can be played up until you hit 12 wins or 3 losses. You will earn rewards based on your total wins.
- Rewards featured up to 50 packs for a run, multiple legendaries, and the usual gold + dust.
- The Heroic Brawl only lasts for the duration of a regular Tavern Brawl week!
- When this special mode is running, there will not be a regular Tavern Brawl.
- You can only run Heroic Brawl five times during the week.

Clarifications
Quote from BlizzardThis brawl is pretty different. We want it to feel more like a tournament, and so the rewards are weighted heavily towards the high end of wins. The reward for 0 wins is a single pack. If this scares you, you may want to wait for next week's Brawl and just enjoy the fun on Twitch. :) (Ben Brode)The pack rewards are from the most recent expansion - so it would be Whispers of the Old Gods. The Legendaries are random. (Zeriyah)
The current limit is five runs. (Zeriyah)
Announcement Post
Quote from BlizzardReady for the ultimate competitive Tavern Brawl experience that will test Hearthstone’s best in an all-out battle for glory? If you think you’re up to the challenge, get your deck ready and dive into the fray, because Heroic Brawl is coming!
Heroic Brawl will challenge even Hearthstone’s most experienced players as they vie for glory and in-game rewards! Participants will create a Standard deck from their existing card pool and lock it in before their first Heroic Brawl match. No changes can be made to your Heroic Brawl deck once you’ve locked it in, so be sure to do a bit of testing before you finalize your deck.
Once you’ve locked in your Standard deck for Heroic Brawl, you’ll be pitted against other Heroic Brawlers in heated battle. Just like the Arena, you want to shoot for 12 wins to get the best rewards—but if you get three losses, you’re out!
For Hearthstone’s best brawlers, 50 packs, a heap of Gold, piles of Arcane Dust, and three golden Legendaries sit at the end of the 12-win rainbow. The rewards are significantly different than what you have come to expect in the Arena, and the more games you win, the better they get. Are you ready to take on the best and brightest of competitive Hearthstone?
Heroic Brawl is not for the faint of heart, and is a unique experience meant for the extremely competitive and experienced Hearthstone player. To speak more on Heroic Brawl and the philosophy behind it are two of Hearthstone’s game designers for Tavern Brawls, Dan Emmons and Pat Nagle.
Are you cracking your knuckles in anticipation yet? Here’s how you can participate!
Heroic Brawl lasts for only one normal Tavern Brawl week and has an entry fee of $9.99 USD or 1000 gold. You can participate in Heroic Brawl for a limited amount of completed runs. As mentioned above, Heroic Brawl rewards scale depending on how many wins you get, so be sure to do your best each run!
If you’re not ready to t Tavern Brawl week.
We hope that our Heroic Brawl scratches the competitive itch of the players looking for a high risk, high reward experience. Heroic Brawl is coming soon, so keep an eye out for updates.
We’re always looking to try new things in Hearthstone, so let us know what you think of Heroic Brawl on the official Hearthstone forums!
I don't want to just jump on some pile-on of negativity for this idea..
..but I really, really don't understand why Blizzard would use such a high entry fee / high prize pool for their first foray into an constructed tournament in-game?
Surely it would make more sense to launch the idea at a price point that a lot of players would be interested in, rather than targeting such a small minority?
I already posted but i need to again because I actually cant believe how fucking stupid these people are that make up Team 5.. The risk is so high and fact you can make constructed decks means people will only play the top win rate decks, everything will be clone match ups that will come down to who mulligans the best opening hand and who goes first..Its so fucking bad on all levels how did this get off the table? Someone please fire these idiots. A new modified draft system was the direction to go.... Why couldn't they go instead of 3 hero options like Arena you only get 2 and you can draft 40 cards and remove 10 at the end of draft? That is 1000% more fun and better design..
Ok we have 1/512 chance to have insane reward and about 3/4 chance to have bloody poor reward or about to equal to shops cost of entry fee.
I would play it if low wins reward are pretty good while keeping huge reward for big streaks, current way seems way too risky.
it's not certain thing to get. also this is going to played by +legend dudes for sure.(atleast mostly) and probably %90 of people cannot reach +6 wins. (rng things)
Loving all the negative comments here. That's right Blizzard, we'll let you know what we think about this shit.
instead of making people want to play their game, blizz makes them wanna watch rich streamers FailFish
Yea , watching pro-streamers who can pay those fees several times will be so fun...
Blizzard smells Money Money Money
Right. Took me ~15 days to raise 1000 gold. Now you want me to brawl it for a 1 pack ? hilarious.
Sad to see all the bad comments... I think this sounds like an awesome idea. Would love to see it as it's own game mode.
Here's the reason: This brawl appeals mostly to top streamers, and those who spend time watching them. For majority of the rest, it takes more than ~5-10 minutes to earn that $10, or accumulate the 1000 gold, and the 1 card pack (if true) reward for a 0-3 run is a slap in the face.
Yeah I can understand that. But there is huge gap between going 12-0 and 0-3. The rewards for something like a 5-3 could still be great for example.
is it real? lol. like? seriously? blizz? also please give us something different but also affordable.
This honestly sounds like a "Heroic Arena"... not tavern brawl. This seems like an idea that they use to make money, as opposed to what tavern brawl was- fun and a free pack for those who played.
Fuck this. 1000 golds? 10$? yeah right hellooooooooo cancer shaman!
Like what the fuck Blizzard. See what the goal of reaching legend make some people do. For this entrance fee, people will take ZERO risk and play the most cancerous cancer. Briliant idea, you just insta-killed all creativity in this mode.
Again, we're dangerous slipping towards pay-to-win. Stupid idea imo. Instead of doing stuff like that, give us something REALLY new. Like the possibility to to our quests vs friends to avoid all the cancerous shit on ladder and casual. Jesus.
no one force you to play it so pls
Team 5 has finally removed all doubt that there incapable of making intelligent decisions and design, they should be replaced immediately with compentate people. The fact they just made this Standard 2.0 is yet another horrible decision, drawing from your own collection it will be ultimate cancer with very limited diversity. It should have been a modified Arena style draft that guarantees 1 legendary 5 epics and 5 rares for example . That way things stay non toxic, fresh and much more skill based. Also as a Arena only player the whole reason i play arena is so i dont have to deal with constructed cancer... This is gonna crash and burn like it deserves too..
Agreed ! I think in the same point of your view. But Hearthstone will be better in couple years I guess due to new games coming soon and blizz know they are the only who has this piece of cake, Magic Origins doens't prove a good game for all.
"The reward for 0 wins is a single pack." Yeah... please ignore my previous comment - I'll be keeping my gold.
