HearthPwn Card Design Competition Season 4 - Easy as AoE
This week's card design competition submission phase is live and the theme is Easy as AoE.
This weeks theme comes from alexbroxman, whose "Flesh Imp" was the winner of our "Once Upon A Time" competition. As the title suggests, you'll be making AoEs!
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
- Your card must deal damage to or destroy more than one minion on the battlefield at once.
(We recognize that there are a few ways to effectively deal damage to or destroy a minion, like setting its Health to 1 or returning it to its owner's hand or shuffling it into a deck, but lets avoid those and focus specifically on actual damage and actual destruction.) - To clarify...
- Your card doesn't need to always affect more than one minion, like Cleave, but it should do so as part of its normal function. I think we've all sometimes had to play a Flamestrike when there's only one enemy minion or a Brawl when there are only two minions on the board, and that's fine.
- Cards like Arcane Missiles are also fine, as although their effects are random, being distributed across multiple targets is part of their normally expected potential.
- What wouldn't be fine would be, for example, Flame Juggler just because you can combine it with Brann Bronzebeard, or Circle of Healing just because Auchenai Soulpriest exists.
- That's not, however, to say that your card must do its thing entirely independently; Wild Pyromancer and Void Crusher would be considered valid entries, despite needing to be triggered by other game elements, because their effects are always valid when they are triggered.
- There are tons of examples of this in the game, so we're not going to list them all. Some of our favorites, though, include Explosive Trap, Swipe, Blade Flurry, Foe Reaper 4000, Flame Leviathan, Doomsayer, Corrupted Seer, Poison Seeds, Betrayal, and of course, DOOM!
Submit Your Card Design Today!
Head on over to the submission thread to read the rules and submit your entry. Also be sure to check out this week's discussion thread.
A little AoE love for a class that could use more of it. Something of a Swipe / Foe Reaper hybrid. Could serve as a replacement for Druid of the Flame and Mounted Raptor during the next rotation. Beast Druid would definitely need a new three drop. A four-drop variant to replace Savage Combatant could also be considered (3/5 and 2 damage, or perhaps one damage to all enemies, making it an tauntable swipe?)
Here are my entries :
Fade from Grey : This card would be introduced in the next set, when Entomb and Excavated Evil rotate out of standard. It serves as hard removal and has potential as aoe removal when combined with other silence cards such as ofcourse Silence and Mass Dispel...
Judge of Order : This is perhaps slightly too strong of a card. It's a cheaper but more situational Consecration, and while it is a 2-drop, it will rarily do what you want on turn 2. Regardless, The text is quite elegant, and I would love to see other designs of this type of effect.
I'll be submitting just the first.
I'm pretty sure 95% of the players will think this card is well-balanced, except is you are as dumb as Ben Brode, of course :)
RIP! I tried to make this work in a reno deck the other day to no luck. It's actually ridiculous how unplayable it is. I miss oil rogue so much! It was so different to everything in the meta at the time
First submission, go easy on me.
Image was broken, here is the card Meirer has submitted :
What do you think?
I like the idea of getting 4 or less attack minion, but disliked the ( damages the minions ) ability ..
Since its Priest card I would like to see it like :
Gain a control of an enemy minion with 4 or less Attack until the end of your turn, and get healed with its cost.
Inconsistent because it can only target 4 power or less; It's optimal scenario is when the opponent has 4 minions; And it doesn't kill a minion if the opponent has only 1 (because taking the minion will only let it go face).
It's also heavy at 6 mana, and it's just another Shadow Madness. Try to go for something more original.
Lastly, the card should try to have 4 or fewer lines of text, More than that it makes it cluttered - but this isn't a requirement for this week's submission.
XoloRouge how about you come up with something it is easy to criticize and hard to create. It appears you have mastered the easy part how about you try the hard part.
Well then it wouldn't be relevant in this competition lol.
Nightsstalker - you don't know me. Yes, I have mastered the easy part but uh hey. I mastered the Hard Part.
I am a full-time game developer for my own company. I build my own card games and board games. I've used to play YuGiOh for 10 years and Magic: The Gathering for 3 years now - I've became a Level 1 Judge for MTG, but surrendered my Judgeship to focus on my own games. I've played Hearthstone since Season 2, and have derived the science within Hearthstone's Game Theory with my friends.
You seem to judge a person very quickly Nightsstalker. I can easily create a card for this challenge - it won't win for many reasons, and if you wish to understand them, send me a private message and I'll tell you. I normally don't pitch in my 2 cents for random cards, because they mostly suck, but Dany over here asked "What do you think?" about his card, and I felt inclined to inform him. He didn't say, "Complements only! Don't tell me the bad - only the good!" So I hoped that he would understand the bad, and use that information for his next competition.
But hey, with -7 downvotes, I'll just delete my post. Apparently, no one wanted to see it. Sorry, Danyel96. I can't help you.
Don't worry, I suspect this post to have a million downvotes too. I bet it'll be deleted within the next 24 hrs (4:40am PST; 10/9/2016)
EDIT: I was wrong. I'm honestly grateful. I didn't expect my slightly-triggered defense to be highly upvoted. Thanks.
too expensive
i would love to see what you said
I'll undelete it for the conversation
