Six Shaman Cards Were Considered for Nerfs
Thanks to a post by Dean "Iksar" Ayala on reddit, we now know of six cards that were on the table for the recently announced nerfs. The cards were:
- Rockbiter Weapon
- Tunnel Trogg - Very close to being hit, but didn't hit a few of the powerful decks.
- Totem Golem
- Thing from Below
- Tuskarr Totemic
- Doomhammer (Little conversation)
We also learned that Shamans are not likely to get more low-cost ways to increase hero attack.
Quote from /u/IksarHSThe truth is that 'we're considering it' is the honest answer. We announced on Wednesday and as of Sunday night things still weren't set in stone. As of the previous Thursday we were having long group conversations about the pros and cons to changing each of the 5-6 Shaman cards we had considered. Once the changes were actually decided upon, we sent the blog out to localization to be translated and announced in all regions within 24 hours once that was complete. I think part of the miscommunication was that there was an interview with IGN posted here a couple days before the card changes documenting a lot about how things were 'on the radar'. That interview actually took place a couple days before it was published, before we had decided on a plan of action. (Source)Rockbiter, Trogg, Totem Golem, Thing From Below, Tuskarr, and a little conversation about Doomhammer. Some of those never reached serious consideration but it's still good to have a conversation about hypothetical impact. Trogg was very close, but didn't hit a few of the most powerful decks that already don't include him. Rockbiter was wider reaching and we felt that it set us up better for the future of Shaman. Tuskarr was the most clear offender of both power level and fun. (Source)
It's unlikely we'll make many more low-mana ways to increase the attack of your hero in Shaman. It's a little restrictive but that's okay. Shaman doesn't need to be about weapons every set to fit the fantasy for that class archetype. (Source)
It really isn't. In fact, it is frequently dealt with for considerably less than the 6 (not 4 people!) mana that it costs. That's why several Shaman decks don't even run it any more!
Flamewreathed sees play in serious Shaman decks??? It's WAY to dangerous to gamble with that much overload going into the critical turn 5 play. If your opponent has the answer you are dead and if they are showing the answer to your 4 on turn 3 you have effectively given them a free turn.
Well, just hope shaman have different incentives for new decks on next expansion.
4 mana 7/7 my ass... its a 4 mana 2 OL, please read people.
Still think Thing from Below is too good, it shouldn't trigger off of anything other than the Hero Power.
I'd like to see the effects of cards like these capped in some way, i.e. "Costs (1) less for each totem summoned, but not less than (2)." Same goes for Arcane Giant. And Manawyrm / Tunnel Trogg could read "Gain +1 attack for each (x) up to a maximum of +4 attack".
The cards would still be strong, but had less potential to completely spiral out of control.
Now, now. With that suggestion of yours to Mana Wyrm, it would have turned into something crazier and stronger.
I think after Tuskar and Totem Golem rotate out of standard it's gonna be fine and only good with Wicked Withcdoctor or Control Shaman.
Doomhammer is 5(2) = 7 mana 16 dmg 2.15 per mana it seem right than 3/2 op warrior weapon why they try nerf Rockbiter Weapon because they try to slow down Doomhammer and it only 1 card 1 man deal 3 dmg mostly 3 dmg spell it cost 2 mana that why it got nerf
Wat
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
That's why they didn't nerf them all. Just 2...
I gotta have to say that shaman was very control heavy earlier. Like give us old shaman back + maybe tunnel trogg and we have the best control cards of all time. I guess the biggest change between the last control meta and the aggro meta now is sludge belcher. Kinda miss this card a lot! Hopefully we will get something like sludge belcher back again. We miss you :(
And where was it stated that they'd nerf all six of those cards? They said they decided on two of them.
Control shaman was never a thing. It was always a midrange deck, and usually a bad one.
The thing is if you play aggro shaman you most likely won't have many cards on turn 6/7. Rockbiter weapon might not change much but tuskarr is great. I kinda guess that face shaman is still a thing but less powerful now thanks to tuskarr nerf. You just mulligan rockbiter weapon if you see it and then choose other stuff. Now that I wrote this, I am not sure if this is gonna change much but we will see...
Well I can't think of a way they could ever nerf Totem Golem.. the card is balanced.. it's a 3/4 for a total of 3 mana the overload is a price you know and it's totally fair.At least coining Totem Golem will be harder since you can't follow up with Rockbiter Weapon.
If you look at some shaman lists, all of them run Rockbiter Weapon and Tuskarr Totemic (also Totem Golem)
But shaman needs Totem Golem to function anyway it lacks 2 drops.. you want to nerf a class not destroy it..
Shaman might be in trouble once 2015 expansions rotate out there are a lot of core class cards there.
same as dr.4 it 7/7 and 4(2) = 6 mana for 7/7 wih no effect 0 mana 5/5 it need to spend time on totem for making it low cost but Tuskarr Totemic it op ask for nerf long time now it on day it release i remember , now it still good 3 mana 3/2 stat get free hero power that use 2 mana why different from other class because he has overload need to understand that new player are ask for nerf all thing in shaman before shaman is worst class has no one ever play on gvg and brm meta now look on hunter it has many op card but it has most worst class card are make in this class like ball of spider
Without tunnel trogg and that 5/5 taunt, totem golem is mediocre at best!
