The Return of Anduin Wrynn
It's been quite a while since we've seen Priest being played to any rate of success in Hearthstone at all levels of play. Only the bravest of souls were taking it to tournaments (basically no one) and you couldn't go an hour without seeing a thread on the internets talking about how terrible the class was an how it was all Ben Brode's fault. (<3 Ben)
Then Purify happened and we were all thankful for this blessing Blizzard bestowed upon us. The pools of tears were endless and we waded through in hopes that the holy light would save us when it happened; People discovered Priest of the Feast is preeeettyyyy good and Onyx Bishop has a place at least for now.
If you're the slightly bit interested in Priest, you must see the revelation that is Resurrect Priest. Now, will this be the start of Anduin making his comeback or will we not even consider this gimmick a couple of weeks down the line?
How Resurrect Priest Works
Resurrecting your minions as Priest has been around since the Blackrock Mountain days thanks to the Resurrect spell, although the card was seldom used within Constructed play. The most notable deck that used the spell in the past was Kolento's Miracle Priest.
Thanks to this beauty and the lovable Injured Blademaster, you can get into some pretty crazy stuff!
The Resurrection Gang
You will be bringing back minions from the dead! All the targets in your deck are mid to late game minions so that RNG won't screw us over but that won't matter, we're going to try to get these cards used after Injured Blademaster dies.
- Resurrect - Only two mana, what a deal! Playable early on after your Blademaster has been slain or in combination with another card later into the game thanks to the low cost.
- Onyx Bishop - The guaranteed 3/4 body that brings a friend along with it. A great way to get some board presence after your first Blademaster has been slain.
The Darkness of Heals
We've got a few options for heals in the deck and thanks to Auchenai Soulpriest.
- Flash Heal - Heals up those Blademasters easily on the cheap or can take out beefy minions. Also useful on yourself if you've received large injuries but try to heal yourself back through other means first.
- Circle of Healing - Full heal the board in a pinch or decimate everything, it just depends on what you need.
- Priest of the Feast - Heal yourself from some of that damage you took earlier while healing/buffing up friendlies or annoying your opponent.
Clearing the Board
- The famous Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing combo is here to save the day.
- Excavated Evil is an awesome backup which deals less damage overall at the cost of an extra mana but is better than Holy Nova at clear and should get rid of any aggro minions with ease.

Priest getting a good (not even OP or easy to make it happen in all games) combo once in a while and people already calling it cancer.... while Zoolock, Hunter, Shaman, and Warrior exist....
After 10 games I've only lost to "Deathrattle Rogue". I've beaten averything else from beast hunter and ctrl warrior to zoo.
Thumbs up for a good deck
By the way Anduin is not just a Prince anymore, he's the King of Stormwind now, don't wanna spoil more.
All Hail the New King of Stormwind!
Hail to the king, baby.
Fuck the King!
No, it's not top tier. And I highly doubt that you'll see it played much on the tournament scene. But it's at least viable and has some good match-ups with certain other types of decks. Priest still needs a lot of help but this is something worth playing to bide our time.
Return of the games of 30 minutes...
Resurrect Priest has one mayor, crippling flaw: Northshire Cleric.
If you want to play a resurrect Priest deck, you pretty much can't include this or there's always a big chance you'll get this guy from your Resurrect. Yet without it, your draw potential goes to shit.
Who wrote it in caps, so I'm assuming you're right.
The problem is, in terms of games played, rank 5 is about halfway to legend. So, saying you can get to rank 10-5 is saying you can't even get halfway to legend. I'd consider that not top-tier.
I totally agree with you.
people here jump to conclusion to quick and just negate anything built for Priest class nowadays.
It is not in a great shape but the new Kara cards do help the class somewhat to be viable somewhere in Tier 3/4, and Tier 2 if lucky.
We dont ask for Priest to be Tier-1 top deck but at least being Tier 2/3 these days is a great improvement already.
the only thing I know it counters totem shaman well,
because shaman has the lack of drawing and builds board relying on <=4hp minions, and for each power minion priest has a good answer which is cheaper or same cost. And when the game is about to end - priest finds a way to heal up 6-10 hp which is too much if the shaman does not draw perfectly.
However if shaman is smart to keep hex - it's a shaman's win condition.
All other classes:
Hunter kills so ez, not matter what.
Zoo lock has some problems, but not overextending and early drawing and getting good reloads wins the game and Zoo finds his reloads eventually. (Handlock will not win this one but I barely see handlocks)
C'thun warrior beats priest, dragon also mostly wins, combo warrior just says GG when he sees the guy without aggro and without taunt.
Miracle rogue can probably fail always when priest is smart enough to save damage CoH combo for concealed auctioneer.
I believe Ramp-yogg druid does not care about priest - he has enough time to build a big combo above 4 hp before T9 when priest can cast 2 AOEs one turn.
Aggro pally wins because priest can't make good trades and can't clean well through bubbles and Divine favor makes this game.
Even murlock pally is going to win this if he finds a way to not kill blademaster or shade early by timply not putting enough pressure on the board while just using draws and keeping cleanup combo if priest develops.
So I believe currently priest is still missing something to have good W/R on 5+ranks. And also it may suffer from aggro in low ranks, so, looks bad in my opinion.
I agree with everything except the C'Thun warrior. I have 4-0 versus that deck. The 4 Attack divine shileds can be a problem but with good board presence it is not that scary.
Let me guess.... Never Legend right?
Both lists are pretty bad in my opinion.
Thijs List with loot hoarder is the only viable list for top gameplay. playing without 2 drop loses way to much value,
also this deck has been around a week now and people dont trade in your stuff anymore, they just run face an put you on the clock and if you dont draw into aoe +2x flashheal your toast.
So far I've been consistently beating resurrect priests with my N'zoth Hunter...even when they spammed like 4 blademasters in a row...maybe I'M just lucky but i still feel like Ressurect Priest is not good enough against other midrange decks.
I guess it deals reasonably well with aggro at least
For dedicated Priest players with a decent collection here comes the Diggy Diggy Priest, digging for your high value legendaries in your deck - or gravediggin' them after they got killed.
