Aratil has provided an update on the forums regarding this morning's ladder reset. Don't expect to see these resets weekly until the new ladder system is out. There is currently no other information available regarding said ladder system.

NA Servers Ladder Reset This Morning
That wasn't in the patch notes! Upon logging in to Hearthstone this Tuesday, players will be greeted with a popup letting them know which Medal they earned last week in ranked playmode. Now, why does it do that? Blizzard was simply testing the functionality of the ladder system resets this morning. It would appear that we will be seeing possible weekly ladder resets on Tuesdays. We say possible because they could also be bi-weekly or even monthly - Blizzard hasn't confirmed it yet, but the game files do have something to say about it. You can confirm your ranking reset by visiting your Quest Log and noticing that your medal is now that of a Journeyman.

A while back when we first released the client data to the masses, you may have remembered some string regarding a weekly tournament. It is quite possible that ranked gameplay mode will become a weekly tournament with prizes for being at the top. Currently though, there are no rewards for earning a medal in the previous week. Better start grinding so that if they do implement rewards, you'll be one of the first to get them! Remember, this could be out of date and Blizzard may no longer have plans to do a weekly tournament.

You gain a prize based on your rank, the only thing you have to manage is your time to play.

Posted Oct 8, 2013 (Beta Patch 3890)I think they have to do something with ranked. There's currently no incentive to do it apart from epeen. I've not bothered with ranked since patch/wipe, I get the same results from playing unranked for my dailies, and I have no reason to test myself against others tbh, untill I have a deck I feel is good enough to stand that test.

Posted Oct 8, 2013 (Beta Patch 3890)I hope they find a balance - that balance being that Arena is still more worth your time if you're legitimately good at the game. Hopefully everyone who gets a medal in ranked will qualify for at least a few gold or a pack.
