Head on over to our adventure guide to learn more about One Night in Karazhan.
Everyone complaining about the discard mechanic for the imp when all I see is another 1/3 with demon synergy for a zoo deck. Will probably see play in decks without even using the discard mechanic.
cant wait till the expansion. i wonder when i can start throwing my money at blizzard...
I feel like people are underrating the Imp of Malchezaar. You'll most likely see it in some sort of hyper-aggressive Zoo deck where you don't really care which cards you discard, and It essentially negates the drawback of even discarding something (while also thinning your deck in the process, getting you closer to your finishers - if there are any).
With low-cost Warlock cards that discard something and leave a big impact when you play them (Soulfire, Doomguard, you can even follow this up on turn 2 with Darkshire Librarian), and if you manage to build a Zoo deck around it that doesn't suffer too much if you don't draw it early, this card could be insanely good.
Also worth mentioning that it's another sturdy 1-Cost Demon you can run alongside your Voidwalkers and Flame Imps which, interestingly enough, might even make Demonfire finally playable. Since you now have the three 1-Cost Demons, you can get a turn 2 Demonfire pretty reliably, followed up by Imp Gang Boss on turn 3 - and it might become even better if Warlocks happen to get more early-game Demons.
So how good is this thing, really? Will this card be good enough to sprout new archetypes? Or will this simply be a bland 1-Mana 1/3 that will only be seen in normal Zoo just because of its stats? It certainly has A LOT of potential, and I will definitely be experimenting with this card when it comes out.
The terrifyingly quite Raving Grimoire is an interesting take on the Webspinner for Mages. Reno decks will absolutely love this card, and other slower Mage lists that can afford running Cabalist's Tome might start running this as well. The only deck this might not be good enough for is a faster version of Tempo Mage - not only do you already have Mana Wyrm as your 1-Drop of choice (and getting early advantage is much better for that deck than having a slightly better late-game), but the Mage spells you can get from this could sometimes be completely irrelevant (something too specific, or something that costs too much).
Definitely a neat little card, but not something too exciting. As I said, if you can afford running Cabalist's Tome or even Spellslinger, you will most likely find a spot in your deck to fit this card in.
I'm already playing that deck without the imp. You get insane tempo turns with Fist of Jaraxxus. It plays very differently from zoo, and it feels like you're basically burning through your life and deck to play as big minions as posible. Will put in the imp when I get it.
Watch these Mage, Druid, Hunter, Warlock , and more classes are getting those early 1-2 drops... and Blizz gonna give late 5+ cost cards or shitty early spells for Priest once again....... RIP Priest.
good 2&3 drop for priest, a playable aoe and heal for rogue is all that we need :(
Wow, Brann + Raving Grimoire is like a mini Cabalists Tome (except you get some board presence on top of it). Really looking forward to this nice little one drop!
I believe that discard lock just doesn't really work on a consistent basis. It'sgoing to be better now, but it's not going to be op like zoo. Zoo is still better
As for the mage card, well, it's going to be great in arena but chances are you're going to wanna pick one of the other Rares. Zombie chow still number 1
discard has to be broken, because there is no reason to play it over a consistant deck otherwise.
the mage card is good for control. aggro will play other cards over this
Oh great, another card that rewards emptying your hand. Why stop here, Blizzard? Why not just add Divine Favor to Warlocks and Shamans? You know you want to.
And while we're at it, if aggro can have guaranteed bypass of card draw RNG, why not add a 'Battlecry: Put Reno in your hand.' card?
HAHAHA no, god forbid you show control decks the same treatment as aggro, am I right? Every single aggro design in the game would be pure cancer if there were control equivalents. But we don't care about the cancer in aggro because people want to climb the ladder fast, so it's ok.
Um... It's every time you discard a card, not play it. And the current lists of zoolock only run one Doomguard and maybe some soulfires.
Blizzard should just give up on trying to push Discard decks, just like they gave up on Joust.
How are either of these strictly aggro cards? You could play either one of them effectively in a slow deck.
There will always be aggro, since the less aggro there is the more control rises, and the more control will lead to them givinig up on more and more anti-aggro cards, so there will be more aggro again.
not everyone have money for control
I wonder how does it work with Deathwing?
If Priest has must-have cards, people will complain they need this adventure. Priest will get same legendaries as everyone else (Neutral) and with hope one good card (since it is an adventure)
Raving Grimoire seems super good
I am just waiting to see the priest cards, to see if it any point of me returning to this game.
