Ragnaros, Lightlord confirmed as stopper of the Old Gods. Also, none of the other elemental lords will be returning, only Rag.

Posted Mar 29, 2016 (Explorers)They aren't doing anything to the lore. Hearthstone isn't about the lore. The thing people seem to forget is that Hearthstone isn't telling the story of Warcraft. It's a card game existing in that universe. It's the people of Azeroth, in the tavern of the Innkeeper, having a good time playing this card game and creating stories about what they know. They want to tell stories about Jaina and Thrall and other great heroes fighting each other with the help of many other legendary figures. this time, this story is a big "what if", with Ragnaros being "what if ragnaros decided to fight the Old Gods".
Ben Brode's response isn't immature at all, it's just showing that people's reactions are really subjective, even absurd, being completely different between Hogger and Ragnaros. If they truly cared about the lore, they would have said the same thing weeks ago with Hogger instead of waiting for Rag. They would also know that what happens in Hearthstone isn't lore-friendly in the first place.
Do you see any of them complaining about Ragnaros the Firelord fighting as a minion for the people who wanted to kill him? No. It doesn't make any sense lore-wise, and yet they don't care.
