They are probably saving the card "Corrupted Illidan" for April Fool's. An 8 mana cost 9/7 legendary that summons a 2/1 creature for your opponent when you play a card and comes into play with the battlecry comment "You are prepared!". Oh wait... that was just the next legendary going to be revealed x_X

The lore of Hearthstone is that it's a card game that is played in Azeroth. So you would expect that the Azerothians creating the game would want to have some fun mocking their own history.

Ragnaros the Firelord will return in meta with standard, but no one will play this card as long Tirion Fordring exists.

Paying 8 mana for 8-8 that doesnt do anything will never be worth. Too slow and little impactful.
