Whispers of the Old Gods
Livestream starts at 1 PM EST! Twitch.tv/PlayHearthstone
Update: They've made some progress!
Update 2: /u/Panqueque over on reddit has provided some more pictures!
/u/Panqueque has taken some pictures of the other side of the wall and even managed to snatch a picture of the reference image the artists are using. It looks to be a Faceless one similar to the one we already know as Faceless Manipulator!
/u/That_Azzin on reddit discovered a hand painted advertisement in the works for Hearthstone on their way to work today. The expansion still has not been officially announced, but there have been several leaks over the past couple of weeks pointing to this as being the next Hearthstone expansion.
Awesome logo, and great work to the artists who are working on it!
Some other info from another Reddit post: (Most of it is unconfirmed, but it's still information)
That logo...'Love it ^_^
I can't wait for tommorow...
Based on the original (admittedly poorly written) redaction, the Gods' stats are modified by their affecting minions BEFORE hitting the board. Design-wise it would make more sense like this, because the other scenario means that if the god is removed before the minions can help them, they're basically useless and that the God's value can only be reaped by keeping him in the board.
And you can tell me the average lifespan of Emperor Thaurissan...
Dissapointing that it's going to be such a long wait (April-May). But!... the good news is that Standard comes next week. (I'm assuming that means the nerfs as well). Finally my deck creations have a chance to excel :D
yay 2 more months of waiting~ TWO MORE MONTHS!~
Gotta go to work, but I translated the original page (being a native spanish speaker) and here's an abridged version. Arrive to your own conclusions.
"Hearthstone, Whispers of the Old Gods, the new expansion
With 134 new cards, contaminated minions and 4 old gods, the new hearthstone expansion promises a lot.
(...)
This new expansion brings new stuff to this company's popular game. There will be 134 cards and 16 of them will interact with the Gods. But..which Gods?
4 Gods will show up in WOTOG, with C'Thun spearheading them. The whispers of the Gods also contamintate several minions, which will have different characteristics than before.
While the next week Hearthstone will have a patch that will introduce Standard mode, WOTOG will see the light by the end of April or the first days of May. To seduce everyone, Blizzard decided to give all (attending, presumably) players new cards and C'Thun.
The bigger change will be that these Gods will have an attack and defense that could grow as the game goes on. Initially, they will be 6/6s, but those 16 accompanying minions add attack and defense beyond (the Gods') their own.
This makes it so, at the time of playing C'Thun - it costs 10 mana to do so- the God's power will do different damage each game, and the damage is done upon the moment of playing it (assume: battlecry = power). Therefore, deckbuilding around a God is quite important, as it is to be prepared with many minions in your side of the table if C'thun attacks you."
It goes on, but it's basically interviews with developers and such.
It would be interesting if the "nerfed" cards were the corrupted ones. And if the cards were actually decent after the nerf, but essentially be a totally different card.
It sounds very dissapointing - only 134cards instead of ~300cards in naxx+gvg, seriosly?
And why the hell do you announce it 2 month before release? Now this days will become a torture :(
134 and this summer will add another adventure~ and end of year will be another expansion ~ so total would be much more than 134 ( around 300~ by end of year)
123 cards in GvG + 30 cards in naxx ≈ 300 cards.
HS math in a nutshell.
GvG has 226 and naxx 54 cards.
I only hope that there will be much less trash cards in this expansion then usual.
for now those gods sound like a target for bgh, i hope that they wpon't be counteered that easy.
AMAZ NO STUPID!
Soooo I'm guessing there will never be an Ulduar adventure.
Boooo!
On the other hand we may finally learn just what N'Zoth looks like!
Well I think there's still 1 more unnamed Old God in the lore, but yeah, that's all of them we know about.
mallets means deck recipes~ bad translation~
