If you missed it last night, we've got a huge post detailing updates to Innkeeper and HearthPwn itself. Go check it out, it's worth it!
Get Brewing with Deck Recipes
A new feature called Deck Recipes is coming to Hearthstone. This adds a very basic form of netdecking to the game itself.
Quote from BlizzardReady to embrace your inner deck-builder, but not sure where to start? Don’t fret, friend! Deck Recipes are coming to Hearthstone to help inspire* new deck-builders to create fun and functional decks!
Introducing Deck Recipes!
Deck Recipes are a new feature coming to Hearthstone to help budding deck-builders get a head-start on quickly crafting a solid deck to play in the Tavern. They’re great for both new players who haven’t built many decks, and experienced players who don’t want to create a deck entirely from scratch. To access the Deck Recipes, simply go to your Collection Manager via the “My Collection” button, select the “New Deck” option under “My Decks,” and pick your class; then you’ll see the Deck Recipes on the left-hand side. Three are available for each class, including one classic recipe, and two themed recipes. If you want to quickly jump into a game and need a deck, classic recipes are the way to go. If you’re more experienced and want to try something different, themed recipes may provide some inspiration.
Each classic recipe consists of only Basic and Classic cards, and provides a good foundation for you to get started on building most traditional decks. Newer players will find that the classic recipe is a great tool to get familiar with the deck-building process, but they can also serve as a handy shortcut for veteran players looking to get a new deck started.
Themed recipes revolve around certain card types or mechanics, and generally promote synergy between the cards included in the recipe. These slightly more advanced decks each promote a specific playstyle, and are better suited for more experienced players looking to try something new.
Examples of themed recipes include:
- Rogue’s Empowered Spells recipe – This deck focuses mostly on card draw and spell damage, anchored by the mighty essence of magic himself, Malygos.
- Hunter’s Deathtrap recipe – A control-based deck that focuses on board control and the use of Trap spells.
- Shaman’s Murlocs Unleashed recipe – An aggressive deck that focuses on buffing synergies, and our favorite fishy friends.
But I’m Missing Cards!
Don’t have all of the cards to complete a specific Deck Recipe? No sweat! Simply click on one of the greyed out cards you’re missing, and the greatly improved “Suggest a Card” feature will help you replace it with a card from your collection. This should help make it easy to quickly finish a deck, and start playing!
We hope you’ll have fun experimenting with Deck Recipes, and that they’ll help get your creative deck-building juices flowing. These recipes serve as a great starting point for building solid decks, and also serve as useful tools for those looking to get into more advanced deck-building. If you’re excited about our upcoming Standard format, we have you covered—all of our Deck Recipes are Standard-friendly. As new cards are released, we may update the current Deck Recipes, or swap some out entirely, so keep on the lookout!
*This inspire effect does not require the use of a Hero Power, but may result in excessive tinkering. Use with caution.
Reminder: Don't miss our Special Hearthstone Announcement on March 11 at 10 a.m. PST!
Soo we are expecting this with the patch, right?
Yes, I think it will either come with the pre-order or with the expansion itself.
Do you know the release date?
But... hand-crafting a deck from scratch is 90% of the appeal of Hearthstone...?
...lol?
i wonder what they would suggest as replacements for malygos in a spellpower deck
Amani Berserker
Blizzard claims the "suggest a card" feature is greatly improved, and they choose to demonstrate this by showing it suggesting replacing Bloodmage Thalnos with either Haunted Creeper or Amani Berserker? Pretty much anyone who's been playing for any amount of time will tell you the most commonly accepted replacements for Thalnos are Kobold Geomancer or Loot Hoarder, depending on whether your deck values the draw or spell damage more.
Not sold...
I think it's interesting that it's suggesting golden versions of those cards, though! It'd be really nice if we could turn on some kind of priority setting so that those of us who like gold cards could see those first or even let those show up in Arena if we already own them or something. I know, like, 90%+ of players don't really care about gold cards but for the rest of us it'd be a nice (and relatively easy to implement?) toggle.
Ben Brode himself said that the suggestions are "good replacements in a vacuum" so that is why it is showing those cards as Haunted Creeper is a good 2 Drop, just not as great for the deck as a Loot Hoarder might be.
You can see it here: https://twitter.com/bdbrode/status/707310141096366080
Kobold Geomancer and Loot Hoarder are usually terrible Thalnos replacements and it's pretty bad how common that suggestion is on here. I've found that it's way better to replace him with a card that is just good in the deck instead of one that fills his narrow role poorly. For example, Oil Rogue would much rather have Haunted Creeper than Kobold Geomancer (although I think the best replacement is something like Goblin Auto-Barber). For Freeze it's definitely fine to use Loot Hoarder but never Geomancer.
Can I replace Malygos with Archmage?
Sounds cool. Looking forward to the patch. And the cards. And the Standard Mode. And the Solo Adventures. And life as a whole I guess haha :D
No, but seriously, looks like Hearthstone will make another jump forward with all the new features coming. :)
There should be more filters in the collection tab. For example, lets say I want to make a Hobgoblin deck. It would be nice if I could filter all 1 attack minions.
loot hoarder should have been a suggested replacement for bloodmage lol
or at least kobold
I love the idea of deck recipes, and will welcome them. It could be fun to see what quirky, and fun decks they come up with. Now, if they would only come up with a better/PvE side to the game I would be stoked!
A feature for people who consider even netdecking to be too difficult. Good job Blizzard!
Deck Recipes are a cool idea, but it should be something that players can share and curate themselves, instead of ideas strictly handed down by Blizzard, especially since Blizzard doesn't always exactly seem to have their finger on the pulse of the meta. Same for the suggest a card feature.
Suggest a card should let you select suggestions based on Cost, Class, Effect, and/or Rarity. It should give three suggestions, two determined by an algorithm and one determined by community feedback (when you ask for a card replacement suggestion, you should be able to also submit a suggestion).
So, for example, Bloodmage Thalnos -> 2 Mana / Neutral / Similar Effect = Kobold Geomancer, Novice Engineer, *Loot Hoarder*
Backstab the Amani Berserker?
