Special Hearthstone Announcement - March 11th @ 10 AM PST

The next expansion will be officially announced on March 11th at 10 AM PST.

The sample cards rotating on Hearthstone's page are all evil/dark themed, has it been that for a while, Or did I notice a hint?

I hope it will be the darkest/evilest theme this expansion. The Grand Tournament just didn't quite cut it~ too light for my taste, paladin theme was very light~

So the real question is, do they pull a League of Explorers and release the expansion the following week, or will they build upon the hype?

Not really a question though. They will wait for Asia-Pacific Winter Championship to end and then they will release it. So most likely at the start of april. There can't be so dramatic change before all winter championships has ended. Also I don't know what do you think they are doing for LOE as naxx and GvG are going away from standard.

No they have to patch standard format first, then in several weeks release it, so people can prepare money and buy their packs and special card backs like usual.

Err.. Standard will come with the next expansion dude and they don't require you to save up gold, I guess from a selling point, they rather want you to not have gold on hand ;). As for the Special Card back, well LoE did fine without* it ;).

* Well they released it as a Rank 20 reward.

The fact that they dubbed this year the "year of the kraken," and then talked about tuning in "to see what has been lurking," I have a feeling the expansion is going to have a nautical theme.

It's either that with a Naga theme, or the "old gods" theme.

The Old Gods in Warcraft are heavily inspired/copied from Lovecraft mythos (C'thun = Cthulhu, Yogg-Saron = Yog-Sothoth etc.) and Lovecraft often describes those gods as lurking and waiting for their time to rise. It could definitely be both though, a nautical/naga themed Old Gods expansion.

Yes,finally! Let's hope for a nerf to Bestial Wrath,Headcrack and Savagery too. P.S: I know Savagery was nerfed a long time ago but it's still op.
