I have a question for everyone that thinks wild will no longer be playable.

Are you really going to create 18 decks for standard only play?

I don't mind it, but it points to the flaw in Standard keeping Classic in it's entirety.  I have no problem at all with them deciding that Old Murk-Eye (the only relevant promo card) ought not be in Standard.  This is fine.  The issue is they should have done this other cards in Classic.  Take, say, Force of Nature, Alexstrasa, Knife Juggler, Ancient of Lore all out of the classic set.

Meanwhile, keep some cards from GvG and Naxx.  Spider Tank seems like the most important one to keep, as a strong vanilla 3-drop, something which doesn't exist at all in the basic set, and only Harvest Golem is reasonable in Classic under most circumstances.  Duplicate is a really nifty card, which gives long-term value, and card advantage without draw.  Shredder and Shielded Mini-Bot and Mad Scientist need to go, to be sure.  But there probably isn't an issue keeping Quartermaster once Muster is gone.

Magic uses the idea of "core sets" where some staples come back year after year, but others are chosen from previous expansions to be reprinted.  I could see Hearthstone doing something similar.  This year's core set is the same as Classic.  Next year, they may cycle out say Leper Gnome and bring back some underused things from expansions past.

IMO a rotating format like this still rewards long-time players (because they might still have old Core-selected GvG cards around, and thus get a slight head start early on) while not being as newbie-hostile as Wild format will be.

One of my favorite aspects of any game is the unlocks. You want to restrict what format the cards can be played in, fine. But it is fun unlocking the rewards in games. Wish that aspect stayed.

I cannot understand what everyone is getting so upset about. The game as it is today will remain in its entirety when the xpac comes out, minus the Naxx adventure for those that have not purchased the 1st wing. We will be gaining 2 ADDITIONAL play modes ( standard casual / standard ranked ) and 9 more deck slots.

• If you have no desire to play wild, prepare yourself for a ton of dust you will receive when you disenchant all of your GVG and Naxx and promotional cards.
• If you want to play wild and haven't unlocked the 1st wing of Naxx by now, you probably should. There is plenty of time to save 700 gold by the time the xpac comes out in a month or 2.
• If you have already unlocked Naxx and you want to play wild, you should probably be buying up all of the GVG packs you can afford until you have all that you desire.
• If you have all Naxx and GVG cards you wish to acquire and still would like to play wild, you have nothing to worry about.
• If you are a competitve player, you will have no issues adapting to standard.

I have almost every card I currently desire. Even though there are some current cards on my wishlist, I cannot justify crafting them now, so close to a new xpac that will change the dynamic of everything. Personally, I am saving all of my gold from now till the xpac to buy a bunch of new packs on day 1. I also have 1600 dust saved up to craft whichever legendary I desire that I do not get from opening my packs on Day 1. 

And if you are a colectionist? I don't have all the cards from GVG and i don't want to craft them, i want to open them from packs... I don't have the captain's parrot... :/

Wild will be forgotten in a matter of months. It's a minor concession that it's even going to exist, specifically so players wouldn't be as angry as they would without it. Standard is the only mode that will matter, and thus will be treated as the only game mode. Pros will not play Wild after a while because they have no real incentive to,  which will lead to much fewer decks being made with the mode in mind, which in turn will lead to only the most stalwart of players playing it after it has run its course. I imagine the matchmaking times would be horrible as a result as well.

I do think something like this was needed, just as it is for all card games. However, the execution of it is pretty awful and it actually feels like they're being 'choosy' if not inconsistent about what previous content makes it into Standard.

I disagree. I cannot wait to see the craziness that comes out of wild play. All of my friends that play Hearthstone are also planning on playing wild as they see the standard as taking away the cards they like to play with. I think there will be plenty of people playing wild and the que times will not be out of control. The current wait time is about 20-30 seconds max. I don't see that suddenly changing to 5-6 minutes.

I don't care what the pros play, I play what I enjoy playing. If you are saying that the pros not playing wild means they won't be posting their decks online for wild format, and you need to start actually creating your own decks, then I'd say that is a good thing. I love crafting decks and I love the endless possibilities of decks you can create. I plan to play both formats. I mean, are you really going to craft 18 different decks to help you rank up the ladder in standard? Surely everyone will have one crazy idea of a deck that they will play wild when they are taking a break from standard.

I am a collectionist, but the 5 individual epics and 6 legendaries of GVG that I am missing are completely useless cards currently. Maybe the new xpac will introduce cards that synergize extremely well with some that I am missing, and then I will have to craft them for wild play. Until then, I have others I can craft still.

P.S. The captain's parrot is a horrible card, but you can still craft it when the xpac comes out.

 The craziness? Wild format is the exact same as the current game.

I'm talking about the future, as in when the xpac comes out and there are 200+ more cards in the current format/wild format. I have spent a lot of money on Hearthstone as well and I am not upset because they are not taking away any cards. They are introducing an additional NEW mode that will have limited playable cards.

Anyone that doesn't consistently show up on the top ranked legendary players list at the end of the month has no leg to stand on when they complain about the competitive aspect of the game. You can still reach legendary rank in wild mode, the only difference is you will not accrue Hearthstone points to be invited to tournaments and Hearthstone will not list the top legendary players for wild mode at the end of the month. Are you a regular player in Hearthstone tournaments around the world? If not, why are you upset about how this change will not affect you at all? 

To all of  you, who think that Murloc paladin is an OTK deck, you are just stupid. It's a pure control deck with 2 cards, that cost more that 10 mana, because preparation to play them is required. There is no other control deck, that run 2*10 mana cards, so murloc  paladin is not OTKing them, but beating in a control fashion.

I Agree with you, but It seems like playing against Anyfin Paladin becomes a luck fest. If the Paladin draws his Murlocs before turn 10, they win when they draw the second Anyfin. You can stall the game for 1 turn with cards like Loatheb and hope to kill the paladin that extra turn, but still very hard to do, as you mentioned, Anyfin deck is a pure control deck constantly wiping your board turn after turn.

Murk-Eye was a balanced card but Blizzard released a ridiculous card like Anyfin. Now they remove it from standard. I'm pretty annoyed to be honest. They have created a problem out of nothing.

to be honest, golden Elite Tauren Chieftain and Gelbin Mekkatorque should become craftable and disenchantable as well.
