Blizzard just banned The Ceaseless Expanse in the Wild constructed mode following a game-breaking interaction with Holy Wrath.
We have no information as of now whether it'll be unbanned after this deck gets adjusted in an upcoming balance patch or not.
Quote from BlizzardWe are ceasing The Ceaseless Expanse in Wild Mode. The card will still be usable in other formats.
kawhi1weefc, my "devil's advocate" to that sentiment is that sometimes broken shit is FUN! For a little while.
For the longest time, Wild was Even Totem Shaman, Pirate Quest Warrior, Quest Mage, Pirate Rogue. Static game experiences, punctuated by some brave souls running Toggwaggle Druid or Horseman Paladin. And every now and then, something broken but fun showed up for a week or so: Wretched Tiller OTK comes to mind. And usually those interactions weren't telegraphed by players for several weeks and elicited a knee-jerk reaction.
So yeah, I'm half of mind to say that they could have let this one buck for a couple more days, just because the mirror matches were interesting because you KNEW what the other guy's plan was, and you had to do it better/faster.
I don't know why people was surprised about this. people were talking about this combo when this card was first announced you would think they would have done something beforehand then just wait till it was released.
No refund?
Bans =/ no refund, they'll probably adjust some card (Holy Wrath or Order in the Court) in that deck and then unban it.
That wouldn't be P2W enough.
so fast :O
how comes that they banned this one instead holy wrath?
I don't get it either... Why ban a new card instead of an old card which has almost always been an issue? XD
Probably because it is the Standard card while Holy Wrath isn't, and removing The Ceaseless Expanse is less net disruptive to Paladin decks than removing Holy Wrath.
Keep in mind, this is a ban, not a nerf. They could keep Expanse on the banlist until its rotation, or next patch could come with some Wild changes to allow Expanse to exist without making Holy Wrath Paladin tier 0.
because that would make them look like they have to actually change Ice Block one day
